@sugarqfxxx There are drops if you're in sport mode. That's prettymuch the whole point of sport mode. It simulates driving a manual transmission, except that the "gears" are just preset ratios, rather than actual physical gears.
@sugarqfxxx look at some other cvt lancer videos. the revs do drop by a small amount (1000 or so)....i have the manual and it would drop by alot more than that ^^^
in another video i saw a guy accelerating this same car with cvt from 0-100 km/h in 7 secs.... so for those that say CVT is slow.... suck my D*ck :) this car has the potencial to be fast enough with its CVT so stop hating on new stuff and move on.. oh and btw manual is dinosaur technology :) and those who reply negatively to my comment will flag as spam :D
So, it is a CVT that "shifts" so it sounds like it is an automatic? Wouldn't that hurt performance compared to a conventional CVT that just holds the engine at peak power?
@BikerTrashWolf Of course it hurts performace, but ricers think that if it doesn't make the so called "normal" sound then it's slower. Just watch when someone with a proper CVT blows by with the engine held at peak power 100% of the time and a turbo providing full boost with NO turbo lag
wow, hardly 9.5 ish seconds. Coming from a Mivec 2.4lt engine, thats kinda slow. i guess the CVT didnt help much as well. I have an 03 2lt manual, that will beat that by over a second. But on the other side, a manual of this car would be much faster "i guess"
okay so one guy who actually races and three dozen tiny penis poser fag wannabe arm chair track stars think YOU GOTTA GET IT IN MANUAL. Anyways, for the rest of us who deal more with rush hour traffic than the race track and mom's basement, is the CVT on it really all that bad? Or do you GOTTA GET IT IN MANUAL
if you dont understand how an automatic CANT launch better then a manual transmission, then you dont know how to drive a stick and dont understand whats the roll of the clutch in keeping the engine in its optimal power band through the launch and the acceleration, this shouldnt even be arguable, manual is faster then a cvt to 100, piriod. thought that was common knowledge.
If you really like cars then you have something wonderful to discover, to actually drive one not just steer it
its clear your not very well informed and dont really know & understand the cvt in the lancer and the actual diference with the manual. I also understand you dont know who i am, so i tried to get a second opinion for you, of someone that might be easier for you to believe, this is Road&Track on the lancer gts with cvt:
"Left in full automatic mode, the car feels sluggish, your better off changing gears manually, by paddles or opting for the manual 5-speed"
in theory it should be, i can even imagine some day their going to come out with a cvt worthy of a real sports car, but the reality is that today a cvt has nothing to do with sportiness and it offers nothing in that department nor any improvement in performance what so ever, its not even focused in that direction, its intended for comfort and ease.
The "sport mode" is completely ridiculous, simulating shifts in a cvt is oxymoronic, it renders the whole concept of a cvt useless. doesnt work.
do you really think a cvt accelerates faster from 0 -100kph (0-60mph)? your joking right?...
Im sorry to burst your bubble but your ridiculously wrong. it doesnt increase performance, its simply not intended for that, this cvt's purpose is to be comfortable and easy to use.
and if you understand how a cvt works youll find the fact that it "simulates" gears shifts completely ridiculous, idiotic and absolutely contradictory to any advantage or positive thing a cvt transmission has.
your right about the theory of cvt, and it could be great, but the reality is that today it isnt, the actual cvt in the lancer is merely for commodity and does nothing for performance, if your trying to improve performance the last thing you want to do is choose the current cvt, yet if on the contrary your looking for a comfortable commute and are wiling to sacrifice performance and driving involvement then the cvt is right for you. remember im talking about the current cvt, not the theory
hahaha, i know about the williams, it must have been awesome! no doubt about that. but other then the concept it has nothing to do with the cvt on a lancer, and has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that the lancer cvt is full seconds slower to 100 then its manual counterpart, its like thinking a 2.0 GTS is faster to 100kmh then an 2.0 ES arguing that it has a rear spoiler like an f1 car, its just childish.
try googleing "0 to 60 lancer gts cvt and manual" see what u can find.
You are being extraordinarily rude. You said that CVT's have nothing to do with performance - I just gave you an example that completely refutes this (CVT in an F1 vehicle) and you say that it has "nothing to do" with the CVT in a lancer?
I never said anything that implied the lancer CVT or 'shifting' in CVT's was performance orientated, stop being a goddamn numbskull and recognise that I'm defending the concept and not this specific example of a CVT.
I stated more then once that i wasnt referring to the theory, which i said i thought one day could be great, but to the current cvt's like the one on this video, which has absolutely nothing to do with the one on the williams
And you never said anything that implied the lancer CVT was performance orientated?? your words "Even economy CVT's on non-performance orientated cars allow a car to accelerate fast than an equivalent manual. It has a "sporting" aspect as it increases performance"

Oh, and let me make it clear that I'm not supporting 'shifting' in CVT's, which I believe to be utterly inane and pointless - although your attitude makes me loathe to agree with you.
it's funny how ppl can always criticize and leave negative comments.. come on people. videos are posted here for pleasure... if you don't like it, move on.. don't hate. thank the people who posts videos.. as for manual and automatic debate.. manuals are quicker...true.. but how many people can actually shift at the correct timing everyt single time?? hehe..:P people have different tastes and preferences... some like to drive by stick, some manual. :P peace!

Сам не проверял - еще обкатываю, но по логике быстрее он должен разгоняться именно в автоматическом режиме (Макс мощность при 4500об/мин. держиться постоянно, а при переключениях - плавает)
I want a new lancer, but i cant handle how slow it is.... lol if i got 1 it would deff be the manual trans, and i would put about 10 gs in performance alone. lol
I have a 2008 Lancer GTS with the CVT. In sport mode you manually shift gears 1,2,3,4,5,6. In "D" it does the continuous variable changing like you mentioned in your statement.
But autos are still better, when you accelerate you want to hear the engine change,in a CVT you know its changing but you don't get the same feeling. Think Autos are better unless you have a nissan, Nissan CVT kicks arse
either way, it's still slower than a manual. so who gives a shit really? the cvt should never have been put in the lancer. it's f'n gay. belive me, i owned one for a short time before i got rid of it and bought an RX-8 w/ 6-sp. :)
sorry to say with a bunch of high end companies like Ferrari, Porsche, Maserati as well as Lexus, BMW, Audi, Nissan and Mitsubishi buying out of stickshift, CVT is the future for faster cars. Soon most fast class cars of the companies mentioned will have CVT or Sportshift (Tiptronic, Automanuel) because computers can shift faster than any human, thats why race cars have them now
you can put cvt's into a "sport shift", and it makes the transmission rev down further so it simulates a regular auto gearbox. Normal cvt mode just holds it at top revs.
get it at ebay, i thought it was bullshit but it added 65hp, increased torque and improved mpg somewhat (altought not as much as they claim), it's still the best and cheapest upgrade for any non-turbo car.
And by the way, I'm kinda sarcastic. The IAT Sensor on the Lancer 08 is also combined with the MAF on the connection port. How did you even put the chip there? And if so, what color wires did you place it on? Yea, that's what I thought.
yes it can on some cars and for me it worked :)) another cheap mod is a turbo which cost $150+ installation and can give the lancer about 300 or more horsepower but it'll also hurt your mpg.
Damn man... you got ripped off.. I bought mine for 50 bucks on ebay... put it together with my speed chip off ebay.. for less than 100 bucks I got my RA to 450HP....
(if you believe this tard, you might as well believe what I just wrote)
No man, I didn't buy one -_-; I guess I'm no good at showing sarcasm for this stuff. Anyways, the thing is really BS, if it was real, then everyone in the tuning world would be doing it, but I don't know any tuner that does this. Reflash or piggyback the ecu, that's about it.

CVT sucks....I have that Lancer manual and I make 0-60mph in 7.8 seconds shifting at the right moment, I'll upload the video to prove it, buying automatics cars is for taking your family for a ride, or driving home in traffic jams.
Mitsubishi claims that the CVT takes 10.5 seconds from 0-100, but that only took 9 seconds. Im confused. Oh well, my GTS arrives in a few days so I will find out soon enough.
according to the dealer and motortrend the lancer does 0-100 km/h in 7.7 seconds. depends on what mode it's in (sport or drive) and how well the driver knows the car. cuz if it's in drive mode when it redlines it stays redlined and you end up getting more torque and more power to the wheels. you just don't step in a floor it.
People talking about their old cars... yes and Im sure the Lancer could do the 100 in 7s if it was an unsafe piece of junk. Unfortunately with features such as airbags, ESP hell even basic things these other cars no doubt didnt have like cruise control and air conditioning... comes added weight, which is the enemy of acceleration. So given that it still does it briskly with all its features, I know with car Id want to be sitting in!!
My 1997 Galant ES 4 cylinder automatic does that in 7.5 seconds. And its worth about 1,000 dollars bluebook. Don't worry, in ten years that car will be worth less.
it seems that the valve lift does not come in early enough. it should hit around 3500 rpm's not 4000. i'll pull 90 mph in 3rd gear easy and he goes to 4 gear after 62 mph (100 kmp which ever you prefer) don't go whit cvt....you can't even pop not clutch.
9 seconds by my estimate. I just sold this car for a Ralliart. I miss the fuel economy and my sunroof. I do not miss the 0-60 time though.

Also, the paddles on the CVT are useless. You shift up one gear and it only drops like 800 RPM.

I love CVT, cos they're quick and fuel efficient
But autos are still better, when you accelerate you want to hear the engine change,in a CVT you know its changing but you don't get the same feeling. Think Autos are better unless you have a nissan, Nissan CVT kicks arse
JO3YB777 3 years ago
I do reckon that this is a Evo. Not a GTS.

What would get to 60 mph quicker, CVT or Auto? I don't know why, I feel once CVT's hit 100mph they accelerate VERY slowly.
Ksychic 3 years ago
either way, it's still slower than a manual. so who gives a shit really? the cvt should never have been put in the lancer. it's f'n gay. belive me, i owned one for a short time before i got rid of it and bought an RX-8 w/ 6-sp. :)
BaboonMF 2 years ago
If the CVT can handle the torque, it will almost always be faster than a manual.
JayCeeEss1337 2 years ago
that good CVT banned from F1 cos it's too fast always keep the optimal RPM.
prayalone 2 years ago
I really hate the CVT in the Lancer. I hate CVT regardless.
I do like the little bop-bop-bop sound the hazards make though...
Rejekt176 3 years ago 3
sorry to say with a bunch of high end companies like Ferrari, Porsche, Maserati as well as Lexus, BMW, Audi, Nissan and Mitsubishi buying out of stickshift, CVT is the future for faster cars. Soon most fast class cars of the companies mentioned will have CVT or Sportshift (Tiptronic, Automanuel) because computers can shift faster than any human, thats why race cars have them now
Level7even 3 years ago
Manuals with Auto-clutches(PDK, SMG, DSG, SST, etc) I like.
I'll be honest, CVT probably isn't terrible for what it is, but if I want to go fast, I don't want to hear the engine droning at 6k RPM all day.
Rejekt176 3 years ago
the droning did get very annoying especially when i added CAI & ABE.
BaboonMF 2 years ago
how is it shifting ! i didnt understand ?!
pro999evo999 3 years ago
you can put cvt's into a "sport shift", and it makes the transmission rev down further so it simulates a regular auto gearbox. Normal cvt mode just holds it at top revs.
disbsam333 3 years ago
its really slow ?!
seriously ... i reach that speed in much less time with my JDM Honda civic .

When does changes of shift!!!???
WartCorat 3 years ago
My friend got one but i'm planing to buy one.
My friend could do to 60km/h in 8.8sec. My Civic Si could do it under 8sec

i bought a racing chip for my gts ($15) and it now has 222hp compared to 152hp stock and it does 0 to 60 in 6.8sec.
mercedes300best 3 years ago
wat do u mean racing chip???
beneathdarkwings 3 years ago
get it at ebay, i thought it was bullshit but it added 65hp, increased torque and improved mpg somewhat (altought not as much as they claim), it's still the best and cheapest upgrade for any non-turbo car.
mercedes300best 3 years ago
And by the way, I'm kinda sarcastic. The IAT Sensor on the Lancer 08 is also combined with the MAF on the connection port. How did you even put the chip there? And if so, what color wires did you place it on? Yea, that's what I thought.
Skylegendz 3 years ago
15 dol racing chip :))))))))
Bought on ebay ,maybe ;)..chip CANT add more than + 20 HP...
wrxassa 3 years ago
yes it can on some cars and for me it worked :)) another cheap mod is a turbo which cost $150+ installation and can give the lancer about 300 or more horsepower but it'll also hurt your mpg.
mercedes300best 3 years ago
Damn man... you got ripped off.. I bought mine for 50 bucks on ebay... put it together with my speed chip off ebay.. for less than 100 bucks I got my RA to 450HP....
(if you believe this tard, you might as well believe what I just wrote)
poteaugs 3 years ago
Shit dude I wish turbo's were that cheap. And a 300+ horsepower '05 RA would be redonkeylous.
ni7enichi 3 years ago
well i know they're not that cheap (ALTOUGH I FOUND MINES AT THat price) but they'll cost no about 700
mercedes300best 3 years ago
No man, I didn't buy one -_-; I guess I'm no good at showing sarcasm for this stuff. Anyways, the thing is really BS, if it was real, then everyone in the tuning world would be doing it, but I don't know any tuner that does this. Reflash or piggyback the ecu, that's about it.
Skylegendz 3 years ago
I got the same chip, though, it's really not a chip but a transistor. Anyways, if what you say is true then, I'll be one happy 08 Lancer Owner =D

CVT sucks....I have that Lancer manual and I make 0-60mph in 7.8 seconds shifting at the right moment, I'll upload the video to prove it, buying automatics cars is for taking your family for a ride, or driving home in traffic jams.
un4given33 4 years ago
my hyunday does 0-60mph or 0-100km h in low 7s
jayguy173 4 years ago
Mitsubishi claims that the CVT takes 10.5 seconds from 0-100, but that only took 9 seconds. Im confused. Oh well, my GTS arrives in a few days so I will find out soon enough.
CTisse 4 years ago
according to the dealer and motortrend the lancer does 0-100 km/h in 7.7 seconds. depends on what mode it's in (sport or drive) and how well the driver knows the car. cuz if it's in drive mode when it redlines it stays redlined and you end up getting more torque and more power to the wheels. you just don't step in a floor it.
KeithConcerto 3 years ago
People talking about their old cars... yes and Im sure the Lancer could do the 100 in 7s if it was an unsafe piece of junk. Unfortunately with features such as airbags, ESP hell even basic things these other cars no doubt didnt have like cruise control and air conditioning... comes added weight, which is the enemy of acceleration. So given that it still does it briskly with all its features, I know with car Id want to be sitting in!!

lol my corolla(1.8, 05) goz 0-100km in 9 sec

I do 0-100 in 9 sec. with my ford focus zx3 stock :P lol

wow it runs a 9 second 0-60.
My 1997 Galant ES 4 cylinder automatic does that in 7.5 seconds. And its worth about 1,000 dollars bluebook. Don't worry, in ten years that car will be worth less.

I like the 7g as much as the next guy, but have you seen the way those things fall apart when you crash?
Lancer dont do that...Safety+weight=slightly slower
Rejekt176 4 years ago
it seems that the valve lift does not come in early enough. it should hit around 3500 rpm's not 4000. i'll pull 90 mph in 3rd gear easy and he goes to 4 gear after 62 mph (100 kmp which ever you prefer) don't go whit cvt....you can't even pop not clutch.

how many second o-100km??
PHILIP019 4 years ago
cool! how many seconds did that take to reach 100km/h? is this really the new lancer cvt?
jasonism123 4 years ago
It takes 9 seconds from 0 to 100kmh. And yes this is the new lancer cvt transmition with optional sport mode.
