  • omg

    tank

    ???

    rain

    rush

    this is awesome

  • Hells yes Cowboy Bebop!

  • andd its called tank stupid

  • This is beautiful :'D

  • Oh Yeah , PHOENIX! 602 !!!!

  • That's awesome!, the crowd like it because it sounds so well, but if you hear some crazed cheering, that's your anime fans XD

  • trumpets were pretty damn good

  • I love how they played Walk in the Rain!!!

  • How much ou wanna bet most of these MBs don't know what Tank's from?

    Love it though!!!!

  • @AyameNaruki Yeah, since it hasn't been repeated on Adult Swim four times in the past four years and you can't find the DVDs in the states... Oh, wait...

  • 4:30

    Educational bands FTW.

  • Its not actually overly weird, consider you have never seen any anime, much less cowboy bebop,

the song has a sort of jazzy-festive beat, last thing i would connect to is anime

  • @CronistImperialis you've never seen Cowboy Bebop then. Its not like today's anime, its actually good.

  • I would totally be that one person yelling out COWBOY BEBOP!!! YEAH!!! :D

  • Music education FTW

  • omfg.... come on i love this song but cmon on tubas!!

  • @knifenewbie456

    You makin' fun of tubas?

  • i'm seriously jealous that you guys got to do this show. i would have gladly given up any of the show i've done for this one!

  • I never thought I'd say this, but...too much low brass.

  • I'm so glad that I got to be in this show. :D

  • awesome. I was a little sad I didn't get to find out what planet this is, though.

  • @bassninjatroy It's called the valley, aka hellish Phoenix.

  • ...needs more cowbell

  • @HxCGrizzly hahahahahahahah i fell outta my bed when i read this dude hella funny lol

  • Yeah band does work harder than football we need to memorize formation know the music listen to the director and we work for 12 hours in the blazing sun football only works 4 so yeah depending on the time and efort we do work harder than football

  • Well the amount of time I would say it is close but I think a band would practice longer. Because they have to play instruments and manage formations even more practice if they have to memorize the pieces beforehand. Also because of the performance time they really cannot be compared that well, but I would say seeing how tough these pieces can be the band worked harder.

Though unless you have done both marching and sports it is hard for someone to fully say weather their side worked harder.

  • the band works a lot harder than the football players

  • @Darbcoproductions

    Uhhh

    No

  • @Arbiterisl33t69 Uh ya they do, I played football throughout high school and for my last year played the bass 5 in the marching band for the hell of it. Trust me when I say a band director riding your ass is a lot more frustrating than a coach. Plus the fact that you have to memorize a lot more. Oh and I played O and D line back in football, I wasn't one of those panzi running backs.

  • ugh trumpets. what happened to being in tune at 1:10. besides that, hella cool

  • Whoa... Pretty cool theme there! :3

  • lol I'm sorry... but around 8:00 it looks like they're in the formation of a penis... *veryimmaturemoment*

  • This is epic! Awesome! Very well done!

  • Yer... it was... a bit rushed :S good attempt though but the pace felt really sped up :l

  • The marching was great, but the playing was little..... meh.....

I really love the choreography though :D

  • Can I get sheet music for this? I wanna see if my highschool band can do this.

  • I wish my school's band teacher was this awesome!!!! Not only does that teacher have good taste but also managed to teach them the song to perfection, this is the best school version of Tank! I've seen so far

  • Fantastic Play! Ya!

  • Wow, i'm impressed! They aced thos fp's (Forte-piano's) very well!

  • the tubas blew it

  • WOW the band director must also be an Otaku

  • This would be an awesome school fight song I would love to go to school ever day

  • I can die happy.

  • Heck yes! The bells in Rain sounded pretty amazing in this video unlike the other one :)

  • music veteran--very impressed. notice during aux percussion break, you could hear a PIN DROP in the audience. this was genius.

  • oh hell yes

  • Good version.

  • wow that was such a jip they pulled the xylophone for the sax solo on tank

  • wow

  • i was in marching band and it would have been so much better if we did shit like this, but honestly im not sure if it was the camera's mic but this sounds like shit i mean the rush and drag but which marching band doesn't

  • OMFG THATS AWESOME!

  • Rain is so good here :D

  • the fact that they would even think about doing this is cool, and I think they did a good job, considering I used to be in band too

  • Why couldn't my high school be this cool...

  • awesome

  • im an eagle too! sept i live in so cal :o

  • honestly i dont know if tank is a marching band song

  • it doesn't really work with marching bands... cool though

  • cool, but man, I dont miss high school band.. college band ftw! I wish we'd play that.

  • Right, cuz its totally easy playing and marching to Tank and Yoko Kanno haha. Brilliant work guys. You did the original artists Justice as well as representing your high school well. Kudos

  • Man people need to respect what they are doing.. they are friggen marching and playing at the same time!

  • It's pretty easy, you can probably learn how to do that in a day or two.

  • a day or two!? it's not that hard, no, but it takes more than a day or two to get even passable at it, much less good.

  • As a fellow 'band-geek' and Be-bop fan, I gotta say the whole show rocked. Fantastic for a high school. I would like to see one of the DCI bands take a stab at this.

  • awesome!! .. in my high school the marching band only plays stupid songs!

  • all i see is people bitching but im in amazment that an american highscool marching band even knew this song. How did they know about it is what i wanna know? the band teacher a big cowboy bebop fan?

  • @Melancholy Unicorn

I actually go to this Highschool.

Here, all we do is play quirky songs, we've actually done a Final Fantasy show before.

I believe the first year the school was built it was only Rush songs...

Right now, I'm trying to compose Daft Punk for our marching band, but I don't think I can do it.

But yeah, all we do is quirky stuff...

  • thats bad ass but whos the cowboy bebop fan XD

  • @theotherfanboy

    That's cool :D

Tell me if you ever post a video of that!

  • @Rymdlejon

Not only am I working on Daft Punk, but I'm also working on Metalilca. I already have Battery done.

  • @MelancholyUnicorn its actually just a very well known jazz song

  • Comment removed

  • @MelancholyUnicorn no one of the students showed him the song, i go to sdohs

  • @MelancholyUnicorn Cowboy bebop has one of the largest international followings of any anime. It's incredibly popular in America.

  • @MelancholyUnicorn Either the Band teacher or the Drum Major

  • @MelancholyUnicorn Where are you from?

  • @MelancholyUnicorn cowboy bebop WAS on basic cable... you'd probably be surprised to know how many people have actually seen it. I've talked to plenty of people ( back when anime wasn't as popular as it is today ) who didn't understand the term 'anime' but knew of the show.

  • @MelancholyUnicorn probably the students because some students are anime fan and must be a band member and told the teacher about this music.

  • @MelancholyUnicorn whats that suppost to meen anime is big over here in the us so i dont wana here it

  • @MelancholyUnicorn Once a Band Geek, always a Band Geek.

  • ummm sorry but the xylophone replacing a sax part wasn't such a good idea, the ending of tank would've sound so much better if you left it for a sax solo like the original.

  • it's in a different key too

  • You guys had really cool visuals and marched pretty well, but the music in this just isn't written for a marching band to perform. It's better done by a concert jazz band. Oh, and on "Bad Dog No Bone," you guys were slightly behind what the tempo should be. Still, it was pretty good. But really, this music was not intended for marching.

  • I like!!!!!

    J'aurai bien aimé voir ça!

I would have liked to see this!

  • it sound like poop ahh i cant stand it

  • I agree with HyperFreak1102

Marching Bands should not play jazz pieces like this one, leave that to the Jazz Band.

This just ruins the song, and it sounds so much like crap.

  • well this is what happens when a band plays parts of a song that is done with string instruments.

  • @BelBel06 ummmm... Tank isn't played with string instruments. Except the bass/guitar.

  • the first part of this bands version of tank, with the bass, or cello, or whatever string instrument they use sounds like a bag of dead cats.

  • tank is played by sax/trumpets/piano/trombone/etc, it wasn't written to be played by strings sorry to say

  • awesome!!

  • rushing much... jeeze. trumpets sound pretty good when they are together but the bass line needs lots of work. it sounds muddy

  • Hell yeah that was the coolest thing I think I've ever seen

  • that band was shinin some light to the people who dont knoe...

  • I curious how many people in the crowd knew where this was from...XD

  • fuck it now it gives them homework to look it up!!! TANK LIVES mufuckas~~!!!

  • @danitonfen13

no one cause they are white, stupid, and dont know a good fucking show.

  • @danitonfen13 Prolly only, like, 1/4 of them. But you know that all the people who knew it was Cowboy Bepop loved it more then the rest!

  • I blame whatever you call the conductor of a Marching Band, the meter is terrible... The idea works I think - it's not The Seatbelts of course, but I still think it works - it's just the tempo is all over the map...

  • the drum major

an if u look, the two of them are slightly off from each other

  • they are playin it too quick though

  • o_o That is awesome

  • ugh, marching bands ruin everything.

  • LMAO!

  • hahhah!

  • Who says? Marching bands and drum corps and other sorts take the ultimate of discipline to accomplish. Show some respect. They don't ruin things, they make it their own. Plus, it shows the respect they have in music to cover many songs, and I think this is awesome that they are doing an anime soundtrack. True class. ;)

  • No, shitty marching bands ruin everything. Like this one.

  • That is awesome! Anime music!

  • The intensity of the music is taken out with the arrangement. It just isn't jazz. Still I gotta give you props for it just because it still isn't easy to do.

  • Man, when I first saw the thing about Sandra Day O'Conner playing tank I though "Why the Fuck am I at Desert Vista?"

Then I heard you guys play. Definately think this is a jazz band piece, not marching band.

  • oh god...no bass...no soul

    I don't like it D:

  • Хаха, Круто!!! Хотя и обрезано. Но это же надо собрать столько народа и более менее их синхронизировать, да ещё и наизусть! Молодцы! Особенно порадовал Bad dog!, а вот Rain звучит как-то траурно. Но в целом очень хорошо.

  • tank sucked

  • Its hard to just play it while sitting down at a stand.Ive heard grown ups try to play this and it who supposedly played for years sound awful playing this, but you guys marched it and made it sound pretty decent..MAJOR PROPS.

  • It took me some time to guess that that was rush... But the rest was quite ok. It's not so easy to be as good as the seathbelts...

  • It's Tank, not Rush.

  • I think he's talking about the song in 8:00

  • Ah, apologies.

I didn't listen to the whole song.

  • Yes, I was talking about the song in 8:00 your apologies are accepted :)

  • tubas need to clean it up a bit

  • :O

    *seethes in envy*

If only my band got to perform something like this!

Not bad, although some it sounds a bit off, I can understand considering alot of these songs would be INCREDIBLY hard to play AND march to.

  • is it me or is the song a little out of key? sounds aggressive too

  • It wasn't just you, it was either in a different key or waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of tune.

  • maybe it was colder than ball that night causing the tuning problem. either way they did a good job for it being a marching show piece

  • Even if they are a bit rough, this video made me giddy all the same.

  • regardless of how good the band claims to be, what's shown in this video doesn't really showcase them in a good light, regardless of what you may have done outside of this performance. it's a nice try, but given the quality of the video itself as well as the quality of the performance, if i knew nothing about this band except for watching this video, i would say that they are decent, but not remarkable.

  • what is this, TOB, BOA, USSBA, etc.?

I wish I had seen it while I was still in marching band. That would have made my life!

  • sounds kinda dirty, but maybe that's because of the video recording.

  • Wow, Rain sounds really really great! Props to the trumpet soloist! The rest was fantastic too, but Rain really stood out for me. :]

  • If they played anime music like this at my high school I might have had more school spirit

  • Ahh, I remember watching this show back in marching band.

    Pretty exciting show.

  • My god, there's a lot of pissy O'Connor band kids on these comments. We don't want to hear you whining and explaining why you're a great band and your past success means there's no way you could've done a bad performance; every band has good and bad performances, regardless of their awards and history. This one wasn't bad, but merits a simple "meh".

  • I think this is made of epic win. Some things could have been articulated better *koffkoffbrass*, but it was done mostly well.

Also, props to the Marimba and Vibraphone players.

  • This performance does not give me and my fellow O'Connor band members the credit that we deserve. There is another performance of this show at state from "eagleprideband". There are also many of our past years marching shows which really show how great of a band we truly were.

you should check out all of our performances before you start judging us on one bad performance. Even Mountain Ridge has bad performances dick.

  • I do admit that neither this particular performance nor the marching season was that great compared to videos of preveous years, but in my oppinion people should be more respectful when commenting on other people's bands. You negarive people just watch out for our Redemption.

  • i was there during this performence. my band the kings regiment was competing as well.

  • The performance was actually quite well, the song was well selected for the field of which it was picked. The song is from an anime called Cowboy Bepop, but the whole piece in itself is difficult, a level usually used by college level, but it is well practiced. I would say anyone who is from this high school reading this, GOOD JOB! I expect more from you guys in the future!

  • That was tuscon right?

Seen you guys play at least 3 times. Good job last year with that. I liked when you guys played halo 2 also. Look forward seeing you guys at our next competitions. I'm from the boulder creek high school band. Look for us at ASU.

  • amazing

  • Why was the sax solo not a sax solo in tank? lol

  • the tubas are murdering it DX

  • watever... every highschool in az knows how good o'connor is. never heard of MRHS. I'm not even from o'connor.

  • MRHS is O'Connor's rival school

  • i was in this show!

    woot woot go guard:)

  • Who needs a good football team, we have a bomb marching band! lol

  • nice representation of the anime opening of cowboy bebop.....

  • I personally think this band is great! I have seen them about 4 times live this marching season and WOAHHH is all i can say! Good job guys!

p.s. Katie Tarin your the best guard girl !

  • I'm a proud OHS band alumni. I miss it a lot :( You know, strangely enough, "Rain" was my favorite movement out of all the songs you guys did this year.

  • My kid is in that!!!

  • I wrote the music out for Vista High School Band in 1999. The director at the time was a dick and said no. Good job.

  • OK THEY F**KING ROCK!!!!!!

  • that is bull shit

CHS(Conner HIGH School-Hebon, ky) can do way better thn that just like in 1886(i think) they won the worlds largest trofiy for marching band and when thy came home they got an addtinal award for best flag perfomance(srry for my bad spelling skills)

  • Did they really have marching bands in 1886? Wow.

  • Yes, but they only had trofiys back then.

  • Yeah, but O'Connor (AZ) has only been open for 5 years now. So take a second look at that band, and tell me if it's bull shit.

  • ( was referring to bballer5479's comment. )

  • yeah, but O'Connor was successful because of all the musicians who could play awesome. The band's success now is a direct reflection of the alumni who put in exhausting hours to build the band from the ground up to where it is now. Sadly, there are no longer any good musicians, all of them have gone on to bigger and better things.

  • Wow, it's amazing how a band made up of nothing but crappy players manages to receive music captions, and have many of its members make regional and all-state band (note my sarcasm). Stop trying to boost your ego by insulting the hard work of others and making bs assumtions with no facts to back them up. I happen to have great respect for the alumi of this band, and have dedicated countless hours of my time to carry on the high standards that they set.

  • this was a reply to a comment made by mrhotness25 btw.

  • if you were there from day one, you can somewhat understand where i'm coming from. If you weren't, then you don't know what it's like to build a band made up of 35 people into what it is now. But the present band could never match the quality of the halo marching show, just because the musicianship is no longer there. I do make these assumptions cuz i was there when the marching band was created, I have all the facts to back up what i say because I was there.

  • I've been in this band since the Final Fantasy show, which wasn't the very beginning, but pretty close to it. While I agree that there were certain aspects of the band's performance that were better back then, you still can't go so far as to say that there are no longer any good players in this band. Being pompous like that goes directly against the kind of attitude that our director has worked so hard to advocate.

  • yep

  • Actually, there was not that that many people to make regionals, and only one person to make allstate this year. The concert band sucks, even though they won't admit it. They just ride on the accomplishments of the few people who can do it. At my school, we have a considerable amount of people who make allstate EVERY year and we are actually a really good concert band. O'Connor only cares about marching they are NOT well-rounded musicians.

  • If the concert band sucks so bad, then why have they been rated Superior several times in past years? And Superior with Distinction 2years ago? And another thing, O'Connor only has 2 levels of concert band, one of which is comprised mostly of those who chose not to do marching band and a few others who were in marching and need a lot of extra help, and which doesn't compete. If there was more separation of skill levels of players (like your school has),then the top band would be more successful.

  • Hey who the fuck do you think YOU are? You have NO idea what our band program is about. I have been in this band program since Halo 2 and it is the best thing i have ever been in. How DARE you ever say something so disrespectful. Our band must be SO bad for us to be the GRAND NATIONAL CHAMPIONS FOR CONCERT BAND ACROSS THE COUNTRY ON THE ROYAL CARRIBEAN CRUISE SHIPS. If you want to be in a band where everyone respects each other, then join our band. Otherwise...piss off you degenerate bitch.

  • ummm excuse me?! asshole. You do not have the right to critize our band, you have no idea how much work, and hours we put into this show. and besides this was our first one and we just finished putting the show together. so shut up cause you dont know shit

  • OH FUCK BAND FIGHT!!!!!

  • This is an ignorant comment, and is used far too much. The fact is that you are a musician. I am, as well, and part of being a musician is accepting criticism. Working with experimental music, I understand there will be a whole lot of people who absolutely hate my music, and I accept that as a musician. You seem to lack that, and for that, your maturity is obviously not where a serious musicians needs to be. He was right, this is just damn sloppy.

Respect others for respect, my friend.

  • Good Songs... but it sounds like SHIT!

  • i agree. damn pineapple band

  • What state is this? I'm quite impressed. How ever, try to improve the tuba. they were rushing quite a bit. How ever, the pit impressed me very much.

  • arizona, that's my school's band

  • Omg! really? Thanks! I'm in the pit and I have always wanted to hear that.

    I LOVE BAND!

  • Omg! really? Thanks! I'm in the pit and have always wanted to hear that.

    I LOVE BAND!
