I presently own a new one that has never been installed, right now it is at Lows because I rode it down their last night on my motorcycle trying to get a refund, since I cant find my receipt they wan't me to soak on it. All I have been able to find to show any proof of purchase is a sticker that was on the box for $300 dollars, I am glad I found that, now I am going back down there, I was looking real fast for some reviews to print off and take with, I wish I could take this video.REFUND OR DIE
So what did you do to solve the issue w/the bosh tankless water heater???? and can you give me so advice so that this matter doesn't happen to me when it's time for me to have one installed at my home.
You do know that the $250 is ONLY a core charge, right? You do get it back. in fact, i think you will find that Bosch is only asking for a picture now before they will replace such defective units. Call them, and be nice.
I am a Plumber. I have bin a plumber for about fifteen years working in Marin CO. and San Francisco. I moved to Lake CO. 3 years ago. I installed a Bosch 2 years ago. It was the largest propane model they made. I love it.
I have the SAME problems with the AE125,same customer service issues which suck.and stone walling warrenty coverage, will be getting lawyer involved with a class action ,anyone interested please advise of your interest.
As I research further, I seen OTHER companies - big brand names - with frustrated and angry customers. Perhaps "tankless" is NOT such a great idea. Frankly with my current conventional electric water heater with a TANK-I get hot water in seconds. It has "smart set" which senses those wee hours and automatically turns off during patterns of non use hours. My LAST water heater lasted over 15 years. with very little maintenance.
I found an article by Consumer Reports. I was about to get a TWH-but it would have cost me about $3,000 to install. There is NO SAVINGS and all of them are PROPANE HOGS. Most people take longer showers/baths due to unlimited hot water-so where is the savings Others had to wait about 4 to 5 minutes before the cold water turned hot. Many had problems with "sandwich" effect (take hot shower met with COLD WATER). Most convention electric units are actually cheaper than all that propane!! BEWARE TWHs
@WinterHaven During the incredibly short period of time when the BOSCH TWH was actualy working, our electric bill showed a savings of (drum roll ...) $ .80 That's 80 cents! After spending thousands to install the damn thing, our monhtly saving was $.80 You can't live long enough to recoup your money ...
Best advice is to stick with a good quality TANKED water heater with a timer (turn it off durig the wee hours).
@BOSCHscrewed I can't imagine the frustration and anger you are going through. When I had my TWH on order it would be close to $3,000.00 for the tank with installation. I would also be on obligation to the propane company. I seen your video and a few others like it-I immediately CANCELED. Your video really saved my life! But I really feel terrible for you to be scammed by these sales people like I almost was-"oh it saves money"..it's a space saver-it's a *SCAM*. Tankless heaters FAIL!
we just bought one of these HAD TO UNINSTALL IT and return it to get another one after 1 month. still there is no hot water after 45 seconds. we garee this is a great idea in concept but the product is garbage
Dude! thank you for saving me. I have nothing but bad luck. I feel like this video and the few others about bocsch cant be more helpfull to poor people like me. They still do make a hell of a router though
My wife stated that all bosch products suck big time and that they been having all soughts of problems with them from washers to tankless water heaters.
I showed my wife this video, we are looking into getting a tankless. After reading about some other complaints on the web concerning Bosch, we ran across your video and thanks to you, we will be avoiding Bosch like a phone booth in the middle of a shit infested cow pasture. Thanks for the vid! Rheem looks like a better choice.
Echos: BOSCH tankless water heaters suck, and your decision to avoid purchasing one of these pieces of crap is very wise. Kinda like to hear how Rheem wh works out ...
I almost bought one of these units today... Thank you so much for posting this review. If there is one thing I hate worse than bad expensive products; its bad customer service. I will never own a bosch anything now that I have seen this video.
OMG!!! I have a BOSCH POS I bought several years ago that I'm still suffering with. After countless phone calls and a few tech visits, I went back to Home Depot since I wasn't getting anywhere with BOSCH. Home Depot gave me a brand new unit. That too is a piece of crap. My unit isn't cracking (yet) however, it fails to ignite and shuts down. The propane pressure is right, the installation is correct, and the water pressure is normal. It does it more with colder air/intake.
We have a Bosch tankless heater and it's the biggest fucking piece of shit on the planet ..perhaps only surpassed by the fucking jerkoffs at Bosch "customer service"
Amen bro ( try expressing yourself next time )! You're right.. Lousy product is not the only problem here: How you get treated when dealing with BOSCH customer service is at least as big an issue. Hmmm this seems to be a common theme among BOSCH tankless customers ...
have you checked the water pressure in your home? everything has a maximum opperating pressure. if thats not the problem, check out Noritz tankless water heaters. thats what i install all day every day. they are gas fired with an electric ignition source, so if you have natural gas or propane check them out.
our water pressure hovers around 50psi which is nowhere near the 150psi max pressure BOSCH calls for in its own installation specs.. Nope, this tankless water heater failed because it is junk - plain and simple.
My experience is limited to Bosch tankless so I don't feel that I can make a product brand recommendation; however, from a reliability viewpoint, stick with a conventional tank water heater and use a timer to shave off a few bucks from your power bill..
I'm surprised you could get a "professional" to install one of these junkers. After the dismal performance we saw here ( Southern tier state) its surprising that a plumber, in good conscience, would even consider installing one in the frosty Idaho. Hang on to you old tank water heater: you're going to need it ...
I own a BOSCH 125 NG (natural gas) Aquastar unit. It should be named Aquajunk. The tech support unit is horrible and rude. I am a general engineer and the unit is installed correctly in a Southern California environment. POOR Performance.
Actually, this unit was connected to three (3) 40 amp 240v breakers - exactly as the installation instructions required. The video was made while we were in the process of uninstaling & removing this piece of garbage from our home.
i have a bosch natural gas model 635es. it has shut down on me 4 times during the 2 years i have had it. all times i had to pay for service call. bosch representative are scum backs. they will not return calls and they keep transferring me to some one else. after 3 and a half weeks went by without any help from bosch i threw it out. bosch representatives in toronto canada dont care at all and the reps in the states are even worse. man i thought bosch was a quality company.
@Mohamad647 I have a Marey Tankless WH. Well It gives me the choice of either freezing my bs off or boiling in the shower. If I try ot turn the knob in the shower to cool it down the whole unit shuts down. I was considering getting a Bosch thinking maybe the problem was my knock off brand. guess I'll just save teh money. F-Bosch
Sorry you have a bad experience dude because mine is awesome! My shower is 30 feet away and I would never know its not a 40 gallon tank except I never run out of hot water!
I am fortunate I was able to upgrade my electrical system and the tankless installation myself. Understanding that in FL the incoming water temp remains about 55'F in winter, so the work it had to do is substantially less than in colder climates. I did have a small leak in my system, but was not in the heater. I failed to use sufficient teflon tape on a joint. I admit, I am not a professional plumber.
Well, we all have our problem children. I live in Florida and have an AE-115 unit which I installed myself in conjunction with a heat recovery unit from my Heat pump system and a conventiona, functional hot water tank which I use to store hot water from my heat recovery unit. The tankless works well, although I do not need to use it from about March until November since my Heat Pump provides more than enough hot water for me. We'll see what happens...
These junky products--why are they sold here? I have used them in the bath and kitchen for a decade in Japan without any trouble. Rinnai is the brand most familiar to me, and they are usually in the 3-400dollar range. What's wrong with us and these cheesy Bosch units?
I am running in the other direction. I am sticking to conventional tanked water heater. The Bosch is a nice system, the Euro crowd has used them for years, but the benefits just don't justify the added install and maintenance expense. Nice video, I think of youtube before even going to Consumer Reposts because nothing beats the review that one that's been written by a teed off customer.
noracc: we've gone back to conventional tank water heater with timer. The amount of money we might have saved through energy efficiency is completely dwarfed by the cost of the AE125 and its installation - not to mention the WATER DAMAGE to our house. We'll never be able to recover the cost.
I owned an AE125 for one year, it sucked from day one. It quit and Powerstar sent me new one no questions asked. That one lasted another four years. It quit again. Bosch bought out Powerstar at some point and time and will not honor the warranty.
It cost me over $800 to put in that water heater. We use to have to wait 10 minutes before we could take a warm shower (hopefully all the way through, but most the time you got a cold shower somewhere in the middle). The shower is 2 feet away.
My condolences ... If you're like me you spent no small amount of time and fortune re-plumbing and re-wiring just to install the AE125 - all while thinking that you're doing something good for the environment.
We're also back with conventional tanked water heater ...
I just replaced my Bosch 250sx after 18 months of "use". The coils have frozen four times and the main board died twice. I woke up this morning to the sound of my basement flooding for the last time. I replaced it with a tank type heater. BOSCH SUCKS.
Sorry that happened to you. I'm a plumber and i have heard many stories about bosch heaters. There are better tankless water heaters Takagi and Noritz are tankless water heaters i have not seen problems with. They are almost twice the price of bosch. I hate to say you get what you pay for.
What a piece of SXXXX! I promise you for sure!

LEAKING is a significant FIRE HAZARD too. Look at all of that wiring, and it's installed next to your circuit breakers.
