  • Is that a semi auto variant or a full auto variant?

  • @e0o9kii probably a springfield M1A since i dont see a selector switch. that means itl only fire on semi auto.

  • ta hell with the m4 and m16 this should be are militarys rifle just put a 2 round burst and you got your self a killing machine!

  • @usnavysss or, you could just double tap a guy.

  • SOCOM 16 :)

  • I love when everybody keeps calling it a M14.. This is not Vietnam guys!! M14 is the Full Auto Military Version. That you are shooting is a M1A Civilian Semi auto Version, With a 16 inch barrel, Socom 16 A sexy ass Rifle!

  • @scorpioncrow These are m14 style rifles. Most m14's in service today in Iraq and Afganistan has a full-auto block, they fire semi-auto only. The way to tell is, if you see what looks like a button instead of a lever. The one's with the button is semi-auto only. But, both are m14's. The early Springfield m1a's were built using m14 parts. It's like people call all ar-15 type rifle's, ar-15's. when they are c-15's,a-15's, d-15's and so on.

  • @hammerdrop30 Most M-14's are actually M-25's

  • i know rthe answer to this question is no, but i'm going to ask it anyways; is they're a 30rd mag in existence on the face of the earth??

  • @SymAmineC8H11N Yes, I have seen some 30 round mags for the M14/M1A. These are imported non U.S. made but they are available.

  • @geriatricgoonsquad yeah i know, i heard from my research that they suck; but i heard that the 25rd 1's are just as good as the g.i. issue 20 rounders... i know there's the a beta c-mag for them, or @ least a magwell adapter, but they're wither too expensive for now or just too heavy & cumbersome for a chest rig.

  • i wanna get one of those with the springfield urban camo finish

  • @iflickuoff cod addict

  • @legoman3342 actually springfield makes a stock for the SOCOMII that is called urban camo. look it up before you start shooting your mouth off

  • how much to buy one of these????

  • @themeaningoflife38 the basic m1a's from springfieldarmory are between $1,400-1,600. the fulton armory 1's are like upwards from $2,700 dollars. over all i'd say they're a little bit much for a popular .308 br which is why'd i'd go for a saiga .308($500-600) or a you're standard fn fal(>$1,000). there's also a sale for james river armory m14 @ $2,000 essentially the same as the fulton armory's $2,700 g.i. issue version.

  • Nice alloy frame Smitty in the foreground.

  • Where can I find an M-14 like that? I really like that SOCOM-16

  • For those who don't know "Gunny " is short for Gunnery Sergeant, a rank unique to the Marine Corps. "Grunt" refers to fighting men on foot, in the Army or the Corps, but especially the Corps! The grunts held on to the M14 longer than the Army did; good for them. I don't suppose they like hearing that the FN-FAL was (even) better. The nastiest war of the 1970's was Rhodesia. FN on one side, AK on the other. The AK did not skunk the FN in Rhodesia the way it did the M16 in Vietnam.

  • @Skeptic121 BUt a far different set of factors to consider in Veitnam. It wasnt till almost a whole year of combat did the military even issue a cleaning regimne, instructions or kits to soldiers. And the use of black ball powder did not ignite in high humidity of South East Asia so the powder was changed back to stick powder. Any armor worth his salt know that no weapon is invincible... even the AK needs cleaning.

  • @Hopllyte

The whole sorry episode is told in Col. Hackworth's book "About Face". Hackworth was asked to test the M16. He told his superiors the M16 was going kill untold thousands of American boys and lose the war. They laughed at him for caring. NOT for being wrong; FOR CARING!

Our military is broken and cannot be fixed. We need to cut loose our worthless empire, come home, and protect our borders. Yes, I want to fight the terrorists here. Kick their ass as they step off the plane at JFK.

  • @Skeptic121 nice thoughts...agreed....

U.S. forces spread out thinner around the globe ,than welfare cheese , on a mountain of sandwiches

  • @Hopllyte I hate to belabor this issue, but please read what you wrote, that it took the brass a year to issue a cleaning kit for the M16, the most finicky rifle in the history of war.

Such a sorry episode shows the utter contempt our senior officers had, and have, for their men and their mission. Any senior American officer achieves his rank by his willingness to sacrifice his country and his men to his career. There is NO other path to advancement in today's military or in the Vietnam era.

  • @Skeptic121 The blame for the way the M-16 went to war can be laid squarely at the feet of John McNamara who decided the chambers did'nt need to be chromed even though the Army wanted it. The White house micromanaged the whole war.

  • @flyinDPOD Hello, I am old enough to remember Defense Secretary Robert McNamara. The man was evil. His middle name, Strange, was too appropriate to have been an accident!

  • The most decorated officer of the Vietnam era, Col. David Hackworth, tested the M16 when it was introduced. He complained to his superiors that it jammed easily and was extremely difficult to clear once it did. They laughed at him for caring about the troops and told him to buy stock in Colt, the manufacturer. Today, elite troops, those that the top brass care about, are allowed to use the M14 in Iraq and Afg. No other countries use the M16 unless they get it free from the US.

  • You keep telling yourself that.

  • Hey Gunny Grunt: which fact that I wrote do you disagree with? I'm not in the Corps so you can use English sentences, not Gruntspeak.

  • How was I using gruntspeak? I was just telling you that you can keepp feeding your self false information.

  • @GunnyJH

If you throw out a contemptuous retort, it is customary to explain WHAT you disagree with and why. For example: Do you disagree that Col. Hackworth was the most decorated officer of the Vietnam era? Do you claim Col. Howard was? If so, I would respond that Howard was enlisted for much of that era, while Hack was commissioned. Sorry to make you feel stupid, but you helped me!

  • Australian troops were extremely successful against the VC in the early years of the Vietnam war. They used a rifle, the FN-FAL, that fired the same round as the M14. It was known for penetrating the jungle and hitting the enemy. The M16 round was notorious for being deflected by vegetation. The FN-FAL was known for not jamming, even in dirty conditions. Australian top brass care about their troops. U.S. top brass care about their career. Sorry to say, this will not change.

  • thats the gun you pull out when you want something dead NOW

  • id probably take a semi auto over an automatic. i mean, unless its an smg, for assault rifles, aint nothing better than a semi auto in my opinion. i think we should stop using a 30'06 round in our rifles and convert completely to .308 rounds. less kick, more accuracy, and does damage ALMOST just as good if not as good.

  • what are you talking about? The 30-06 hasn't been used for a US rifle since Korea. We use 5.56 and 7.62 NATO. And to the Burrito guy, M16's are not semi automatic only, they have a burst function. Or in some cases a full automatic function.

  • i mean for the stop the using of a 30'06 in our hunting rifles. and in our military rifles there are round VERY similar to the 30'06 rounds. they have a lot of kick for all the more power

  • 30-06 is no longer in service in NATO. Standard rifle calibers are 5.56 and 7.62 NATO (.308, yes I know the two are slightly different but for the sake of argument we will negate those differences) and .50 BMG

The 30-06 out performs the .308 in every way. They took it out of service because it was a long round making it harder to carry a lot of. It was also hard to make actions for semi autos for such a long round (The garand is the rare exception). Think of a .308 as basically a 30-06 short.

  • 30'06 doesnt out perform it. the .308 shoots farther more accurately, less recoil, and close to the same power. the .308 round in general better. if you are shooting more than 150-200 yards, ill take the .308 ANY DAY

  • Yes it does, not by a whole lot. The .308 is an extremely efficient case but the 30-06 hits harder over longer distances because of the extra powder and will drop about an inch less out at 400 yards.

The differences are small and almost negligible but they are there. Don't get me wrong I love the .308, but look around and you will see what Im talking about

  • we dont use a 30'6 round anymore...

  • The M-14 is .308. Im sure you knew that tho.

  • @ECTBWHO i know. my comment was in a reply to someone talking about a .30-06. but dip shits see .30-06 on a m14 page and automatically seem to think im talking about the weapon in the video.

  • I apologize to you then. Im just soo ticked off at people like that right now.

  • @ECTBWHO it ok. i find it funny to see alot of my comments get a negative thumb and see these retarded comments get positive

  • Doesn't the M-14 only fire the 7.62mm round though? Correct me and explain if I'm wrong?

  • 7.62 x 51

    CAL Length of case

    Thats the TRUE M-14/M21

  • But it can be modified to fire the 30-06?

  • YES. I have seen them. But they are rare. You have the change the barrel. And get some one mod the rifle to take B A R mags or something thats 30-06. These days .308 is cheaper than 30-06 but I still love the 30-06.

  • Thanks, I'll look into it. Sorry if I aggravated ya'. Just wondering.

  • I apologize for the chin music. WHAT aggravated me was when I was informed that there is a bill somewhere that whats to ban the M-1 Carbine. M-1 Garand, Mini 14, and the M1-A1.

And all Shotguns. Unlikely that it will pass due to the shotgun part. THATS WHAT AGGRAVATED ME.

  • @ECTBWHO Oh shit. You're kidding I hope... I was planning on buying an M1 Garand soon..

  • No kidding. They want to take all guns away from us old news. Ill E-mail you a link from the NRA. Just makes me wanna praise the CMP for mailing M1 Garand's and Carbines to the homes of Millions of People with out papers. I ticks me off when people want to ban and or destroy relic firearms.

  • All of a sudden, there is a war between real guns and airsoft guns.

I own both. I love them both.

So where is the problem ?

  • The heck with airsoft,I want one of these!

  • it has full auto to, it's intense.

  • Long lasting sound lol... Probably the echo

  • The AR10 was never adopted by the military unless I am missing something.

  • Hey, isn't the M-14 a M1 Garand, and another automatic weapon combined???

  • the m14 was made to have a fully automatic bigger capacity rifle other than the garand or m1a1 carbine

  • yea dude,it is an M1 Garand, with an extended mag. *f1rehawkZ* is just talkin shit he dont know.

  • m1 garands are chambered for the 30-06, m14s are .308

  • i know dude,i was just correcting that dude that said the m14 is an "m1a carbine but fully automatic"

  • For anyone who might read this, the Garand and the M14/M1A are two different rifles. The receiver is very very similar, as the M14 is based off of the Garand. However, the operating rod is different, and the internals of the receiver are different. The Garand takes 8 round En Bloc clips, whereas the M14 takes a detachable box magazine. Not all Garands are .30-06, the Navy versions were 7.62 x 51 (.308 Win), which is the same round as the M14.

  • Also, the M1A and the M14 are exactly the same rifle, with the exception that the M14 is select fire (semi-auto or full-auto) and the M1A is the "civilian" clone that fires in semi-auto only. The fire control parts in the receiver are not interchangeable, and the interior of the receiver is slightly different in the M1A to prevent the full-auto parts from being installed. Beyond that, the rifles are identical.

  • very good explanation, now i know, tnx alot

  • Yeah, no problem. That's the short and sweet explanation, anyhow. That's based off of what I've read about the two firearms, and my practical experience with the two I own. I have an M1 Garand who's serial number places it as a 1942 year of production, but it was refurbished after the war and has a newer 1950 barrel. I also have an M1A (M14 clone), and both of them are a blast to shoot. I always wanted a "real" M14, but I don't think that will happen for legal and financial reasons.

  • thanks, now i know. (arguing on the internet is how i learn)

  • And knowing is half the battle.

    GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII JOE!

  • its like comparing a wasr and a saiga. both built on the same idea but for tottally different

  • The m14 was designed to replace the M1 Garand M1918 BAR and I think even the M1 Thompson.

  • yep, unfortunately it didnt quite work out how they planned, but it still has a place as a sniper rifle for US troops.

  • The M14 is an excellent rifle that exceeds most of the military needs. The only problem is it is too good a rifle and not good enough a machine gun for what the military wants. The military believes more rounds fired equals more enemy killed. Vietnam shows 100,000+ rounds per kill compared to 25,000 rounds per kill in WW2.

  • one shot one kill my brotha

  • That's how it should be.

  • Its funny how they wanted a fully auto weapon and they disowned the m14 due to bad recoil, so they get the m16 which has barely any and can pump out more rounds then any other assault rifle, and what do they do... say full auto is bad and switched all the m16s to semi auto lol.

  • Seriously it is retarded. Full auto is really inefficient.

  • no, if your soldiers are trained not to do a mag dump every time they see one guy....

  • That is what the M16 was designed to do though. The round was chosen so the rifle could be fired accurately with long burst of automatic fire.

  • yea, but the only reason they changed it was so that dumb ass's wont run out of ammo with in the first 30 seconds of the firefight, and to give the barrel time to cool down

  • Still the main function of the M16 is to provide accurate long range full automatic fire. If they wanted long range semi auto and short range full auto performance they would have stuck with the M14.

  • Note true. It was so the solider could carry more ammo. Thats why the selecter goes safe, semi, full. In fact the military was getting away from full auto on them cause of the waste of ammo. Thats where the 3 rd burst comes in. No gun is dead on at long ranges in full auto it recoils no matter what the caliber. A little barrel rise only get worse the farther out the target gets. The AK is meant for full auto. So young untrained men could shoot it if need be. Spray & Pray.

  • @disturbedone5009

    M16s are not fully automatic

  • Actually it depends on what model but burst modes are still considered fully automatic.

  • Basically right, but the Armalite rifles produced for the military were always select fire. They've all had a semi-auto position on the selector between safe and auto. The differences in fire control between the different variants was a difference in the type of auto. Some were full auto and some had a burst cam and would only fire 3 rounds per trigger pull, but all had a semi-auto function. You are basically right, in the respect that they switched from full auto to burst to save ammo.

  • back then, it was a Rambo era.. :)) lol

  • thats right, real men dont use airsoft

  • So you run around the forest shooting your friends with real guns? Nice...

It's called a sport for a reason. Rifle ranges are for real guns and "grown up tag" is for airsoft.

  • airsoft is fo kiddies.

  • Or for people who live in Canada, where you can't even have a pellet gun with over 500 fps.

  • Except for training organizations that require airsoft rifles, like Systema, for authentic and accurate simulations. :P

  • THANK GOD! If this was another fucking airsoft video i was gonna throw my computer out a window!!!!!!!!

  • lol

  • @bigdude90 I get so angry that I type things in looking for real guns and it ends up beings about airsoft!!!

  • @bigdude90 LOL

  • yes, that is true they did switch to the lighter m16 in vietnam partly due to weight but also due in part to massive lobbying by colt. They also wanted a lighter round for less overall weight. however with a heavy rifle recoil isnt bad. Matter of fact there is very little actual felt recoil when shooting 150 gr. ball ammo out of the m-14. distance does affect accuracy, but the .308 is ACCURATE out to 300 yds, with practice and a good scope it does not affect it any more than a lighter bullet.

  • "keepshooting" ... as in, you might get lucky & hit something eventually? LOL

  • at distance accuracy suffers. 300 yrd = 1ft bullet drop

  • this version of the m14 is great, but the new Mk14 EBR is a far better rifle than the m16 or m4

  • Pretty much ALL bullets, regardless of caliber and grain are going to suffer a significant amount of bullet drop at farther distances, but it's easily compensated for by a trained marksman with a high quality scope who knows how to accurately judge distance, calculate bullet drop, and windage to make adjustments to his scope. Some high power rounds, like the .50 BMG or the Barret .416 have an extremely flat trajectory at similar distances, but still drop noticeably forcing you to compensate.

  • How this rifle performs compared to the m-16?

  • it is a higher caliber than the m16 and has excellent stopping power and amazing accuracy compared to the lower caliber m16

  • but the m16 is fully automatic to semi automic so you get more bullets for the kill you need, and dont forget the m16 is amazingly lighter than the m14. lol.. thats why we used m16's in vietnam

  • The heck with airsoft,I want one of these.

  • but then your limited to the range :(

  • your mama!!! lol jk :D

  • Anyone have thoughts as to why certain mags will nose dive/ not work? I have CMI and W both suck... Help

  • this is what i like to see,,a real m14 n not a bullshit plastic bb gun..nice clip fellas

  • I went to the firing range with a friend of mine and fired his M14 and found that the recoil wasn't as bad as I thought it would be,in fact ive fired the ruger mini 30 which takes a 7.62x39 cartridge and it kicked harder than the M14 did.

  • Comment removed

  • why would you need eye protection dumbass

  • deffinatly not an m1

  • its a SOCOM M1a. So just a m14 short in a composite stock

  • THAT IS A M1!!

  • This is an M14... The SCOUT version if I'm not wrong...

  • its probably the SOCOM version of the m14 its just shorter for close quarters

  • no sir its a m14

  • Magazine = M14

  • That and M1As have freakin cast recievers. LOL JUNK

  • Its a technical/legal point. Military 7.62mm brass cases, having thicker case walls than their civilian counterpart, will obturate at a different rate and thus create a different pressure curve. Manufactuers, for legal reasons, proof their barrels for one or the other. The barrels proofed in .308win are not recommended for 7.62mm NATO because of the pressure curve diff. Those proofed for 7.62 will safely shoot .308win. According to the manufacturer......

  • did u guys know that the .308 round is not exactly the same as the 7.62 military round?bullet diameter on a 7.62 is actually .310

  • yea. the 308 win and 762 nato are a little different. if a gun fire one it can fire the other i believe.

The 762 nato will fit fine in the m14 but the 308 win is a perfect fit.

  • For the Noobs to get a better perspective on the differences between the two rounds, they should use google images for a comparison. Very different rounds.

  • Is that a Springfield SOCOM 16 ?

  • looks like an MI garand converted..to m14

  • an m14 is a highly moded m1 garand but the m14 has bigger bullets

  • the 30-06 fired by the m1 is a longer cartridge than the 308 fired by the m14.both have a .308 cal projectile.

  • Yes the M1 Garand fires a .30-06 AKA 7.62X63, the M14 fires a .308 AKA 7.62X51

  • and the M1A has that same bolt design as the M1 garand

  • at a close range an ak is better. But yes at range m14 drops all.

  • Depends on what you mean by close range, if you mean house to house than yes. But close range for an M14 is at the 100 yard mark. At that range, you can just plink away at the enemy and kill them one by one.

  • m-14 the best mother fucking rifle arround it will rape aks at there own game (spray and pray) and then when it comes to puttin rounds down range it cant be beat...ive got a nm spring field... 10 inch pattern 800 yards im not even a pro or useing match rounds

  • Here's the thing, I wouldn't carry anything but the M14 into battle. But the AK47 cannot be beat at spray and pray. You can put hundred of rounds down range full auto and it will not quit. The M14 is a great rifle but its cartridge is too big for accurate fully automatic fire.

  • The ammunition is actually very similar. The Kalashnikov fires a 7.62x39 mm and the M14 fires a 7.62x51 mm cartridge.

  • actually they are very different, same bullet width yes but beyond that everything is different.

  • Like jubbles said, the bullet are VERY different. The .308/7.62x51 is a heavy hitting full power rifle cartridge. You must have never seen them side by side (which is fine, I dont blame you). The AK 7.62x39 on the other hand, is very light and is a cross between a pistol and rifle round. The AK's recoil is low while the M14/M1a's recoil is pretty high. Read about the FN FAL or the HK G3 and you will know what I'm talking about.

  • wonder what the heck that cost

  • Thats my weapon of choice man.. enjoy it.

  • SWEET.

  • Do I spy a m6906 S&W 9mm on the table?

  • I trained with the M-14 at Parris Island in boot camp in 1964, and had the M-14 as my weapon for 4 years. I never touched the M16. The M-14 was deadly accurate at 1,000 yards. I never had one jam on me. I heard that the M1A1 is an improved version of the M-14. For example, the flash suppressor does not get out of alignment. Great rifle. I wish I had one.

  • The new flash suppressor is a phenominal design. When I first bought my M1A I went to the range to try it out and it put 5 rounds in the same hole. It is a great design for keeping the weapon on target for sub minute of angle accuracy.

  • the m14 ebr is a newer version of the m14 you ought to take a look at that bad boy

  • I wanna get me some GI grade ones.

  • what sling did you attach? Could someone send me a link pls?

    thx

  • Funny how these clips never show you the target after, who cares about watching someone miss the target

  • i totally agree. =]

  • Actually firing these things and hitting something are two different expierences I bet

  • what are you talking about? The weapon is amazingly accurate. 22" barrel with a heavy bullet that the wind wont effect.

  • I know but you can't see what he's hitting if he's hitting something is the recoil heavy?

  • bigbobkropp: The wind will affect all projectiles.

  • its not an ak its a socom 16

  • The SOCOM 16 is a shortened version of the M1-A. Originally the M-14. Look at a picture of an AK. It looks completely different.

  • wow hornswoqler...good job idiot!

  • meine name ist eine hornswogler. du bist eine scheinhund. gespielte!

  • do you know hat a ak looks like obvious not

  • what's the diference between M14 and socom 16? the caliber, the shorter barrel and that's all?

  • No...they redesigned the gas tub and flash suppressor! It's a little lighter than the M1A and it's only semi-auto! They are the same caliber but yes it has a shorter barrel! It is a great rifle! I also have an M!A!

  • M1A is the civilian legal m14, that is why it is only semi, they are made in full auto though.

  • air soft? are you retarded? Air soft toys are just that: toys.

  • i have a military grade M14 its pimp!!!!

  • i have a m14 and is the great sniper rifle that i have

  • A Socom 16 is not the same as a M14, even if both are in the M1A family, but I'm sure you know that, good vid.

  • even tho .308 and 7.62x51 are about the same...i wouldnt shoot 7.62x51nato in a rifle maked .308 do to the 7.62 being made for higher pressurers then the .308, buts its completely safe to shot .308 in a rifle maked 7.62nato

  • are you fucking serious? can't you tell by the bang and the ejected shells

  • hmmmm its loud and ejects shells.........its a real gun duh

  • Are you serious or just dense?

  • Calm down,jesus christ.

  • nice

  • that's the shortest barrel i've ever seen on those.

  • Its a SOCOM-16, so believe its only 16" barrel, maybe 18" max.

  • I noticed the same thing as soon the the vid started :P
