  • Not to mention Daley Thompson...

  • Who the fuck is Hugh Grant?

I jumped like Kareem Abdul Jabar at the time. Well, actually not quite as high as him, but I sure tried. And every now and then, I jumped high enough to get more, more, more.

  • @BA5966 Just google "Love Actually" or search for "Hugh Grant dancing" in youtube.

  • like hugh grant!!

  • K recuerdos de un clásico vaya tiempos k ya no volverán jamás excelente música de 80s

  • GO HUGH GRANT DANCE

  • Is great!!

  • haha just finished watching love actually . go hugh grant

  • wasnt this written by bruce springsteen

  • @dsnfldgfds - Not according to wikipedia...

  • I'm watching again "Love Actually" and every time I watch Hugh Grant dancing on this song I can't stop laughing! I love this song!

  • very beautiful

  • I'm glad my dog also liked this music, now she's gone.

  • J'aime bien la chanson mais c'est toujours à Hught Grant que je pense quand je l'entends. :D

  • should be call the leggy sisters

  • 80's music rocks!!!!

I am proud to be an 80's kid!!!

  • @maleficentdiva im proud to be a 90's kid who still likes 80's music! (Even though I would have much preferred living in the 80's...:( )

  • @doyoureally95 Nah Nineties were better. If you were a teenager. "I did not have sex with that woman" was the worst thing we had to worry about.

  • @maleficentdiva Shit... you're lucky! Till the 90's I was nothing more than espermatozooes!

  • DAM, I Forgot How "HOT" these Ladies Are!!

    oooooowwwwweeeeeee I'm Jumping!!

  • This energetic love song got a nice boost from the 1984 Summer Olympics, which were held in Los Angeles. The Pointer Sisters, who were more of a retro R&B group in the '70s, adapted well to the '80s, with upbeat keyboard-driven songs like this.

Supposedly this song was originally titled simply "Jump", but the title was extended just before release so the song wouldn't be confused with Van Halen's recent #1 hit of that title.

  • I just wanna be the Prime Minister ! \o/

  • Whenever I hear this fab song, I think about my very first dog, Cindy. Although her shoulders were only even with my knees, I once saw her go over a 6-foot wooden wall from a sitting position!! I stood there in shock!! If I was home and this song came on, I would lead her into the living room to see if there were any squirrels in the front yard. Once there was, and she got to scare the living daylights out of them (which she adored doing), and I got to see a great jumper while the song played.

  • Is the 3rd lady with longer hair June?

  • @anthony6884 june is the lead vocal in the middle lady. :)....... left one is Ruth and right one is Anita.:)

  • I can't help but think of Hugh Grant in Love Actually when i hear this :)

  • big WOW !!

  • My high school swim coach used to play this song to get us pumped up before a swim meet. It always made me want to get in the water and swim forever...either that or JUMP!

  • these women are amazing. such good energy

  • i wish i was old enough back then to bang them lol

  • Great

  • Why ain't there no white guys jumpin' Bigoted, racist video.

  • @dougsk1 cause white men can't jump.

  • @dougsk1 this is stupid: there are many videos of white singers with only white persons, so why should only this one be called racist? The Pointer sisters are black, propably they prefer black men. I don't see what's wrong with that. And before you tag me as racist, I must tell you I'm a white girl.

  • A great 80s dance classic!

  • Time to do my Hugh Grant dance.

  • I LOVE how they wore simple dresses, wore their hair curly, smiled and danced and sang like normal, healthy, sexy women. They're beautiful and real.

  • Agree!!

  • The summer of 1984 for me: going to camp, playing games on the Commodore 64, watching amazing cartoons, collecting stickers, pool hopping, collecting fire flies at night, watching music videos, watching the Summer Olympic Games, and building these treasured memories! The world was a different place, more simpler. I would not trade the fun I had for all the money in the world.

  • can't wait to see them live at Adelaide Entertainment Centre in November!!!

  • The women are indeed Beautiful and sing thier hearts out, I love them and the video, what more can I say!

  • reminds me of Hugh Grant in Love Actually! funny scene.

  • This is truly a dance dynamite song...destined to be listened with sound turned high while driving with 160 km/h in the highway! Love the girls' harmonies, especially the part between 3:14-3:22, with June singing in front with a desperate tone while sisters sing the backing vocals

  • stary dobry przebój...ile to już lat....

  • I was born in the 90's yet, im an 80's child ;)

  • Love this song, to bad the song did not help me JUMP at my school atheletics day in the 80's.

  • VIVA LOS 80´

  • i love them

  • Great song, but I've got to say that the audio isn't hq in any sense....

  • 43 people failed at the high jump.

  • funny to remember

  • terrific. And how nice to watch woman singers who aren't anorexic-thin.

  • THE ORIGINAL AND THE VEST VERSION EVER. CANNOT BEAT THESE LADIES AT THIS SONG. ANITA, JUNE AND RUTH ARE AMAZING.

  • Yay they are coming back to Australia to play in November AT LAST!

  • The Pointers hit #3 in Billboard, 7-7-84. God bless ya, girls! Thanx, Luis, for postin' it. RIP, June.

  • love this they sing at 110 % pant pant pant

  • Can't get Hugh Grant as the Prime Minister in Love Actually out of my head whenever I hear this...

  • hugh grant brought me here :D

  • a great classsic rock performance with attitude

  • Ooooh!! This takes me back, loved it since I was a little girl! The movie Love Actually made me love it even more! Love it!

  • Excelente canción, la conocí en el año 2004 cuando ví la película Realmente Amor (Love Actually).

  • Love this!!!Reminds of my Mum running round the house cleaning on Sat Mornings....Good Days ....PLUS I LOVE IT IN THE MOVIE LOVE ACTUALLY ....

  • Why cant this quality music be in this era :( !! I'm sick of all this crappy music that means nothing and the artist's voices auto toned and music out of whack!!

  • Jump for MY LOVE!!

  • like your playlist

  • good !!!

  • The sistas rule!!!!!!!

  • 41 people have no taste in music

  • cool how the top suggestion is the rocket jump

  • Comment removed

  • They just played in Boston...not the same without Joan. :( RIP Joan.

  • @Mobee211 Minor correction. June, not Joan, was the Sister that died.

  • I grew up with this song ;) Brings back such memories... My friends all know the Girls Aloud version and they think they're the original singers, and I'm like "NOOO!" Although I quite like the GA version too. They're two brilliant bands, but Girls Aloud are just all sluts.

  • wow, i haven't heard this song is so long!!!!!!! it still goes OFF!!!

  • there is great music today...it may not be the most popular but it does exist. You just have to did a little deeper. :)

  • Well, this song is actually quite popular still, mainly because Girls Aloud covered it, and now their version is one of the main background songs for The X Factor... They actually didn't ruin it, I quite like their version, even though I grew up with the PS version!

  • @tigersden28majors But......in which era's do you find THE MOST shitty music? >> well having lived through the 80s, 90s, 00s and today's- 80s born child myself, it's safe to say it is today's music which is mostly appalling. although for me, pop lost it from the late 90s onwards. for the exception of a few good hits.

also every record out today sounds the same as the last. and don't get me started on the over-use and reliance of auto-tuning that ruins most songs.

  • Anyone else look up this song because Out of the Blue is awesome and sung it in BGT?

  • @The656 What is BGT?

  • @Supersweetguy Britains Got Talent

  • @The656 and cos it was in Love Actually

  • @The656 Nope, for "Love Actually" actually. :D

  • Take a hike, Carrie Underwood, Mylie Cyrus, etc. This is REAL!

  • @ThatHoodieGuy ...Well Miley Cyrus is crap but Carrie Underwood can sing. Look up her original audition.

  • Could you imaging a trio of girls NOT named Destiny's Processed Child, ...um, ok, WOMEN, who are in thier early to mid 30s....putting out soulful poppy dance hits TODAY? NO way in hell. Back in those days, you had to mostly have the talent first. Video's were brand new. You can find bad in any era of music: FACT. But......in which era's do you find THE MOST shitty music? That's the difference. I'm 32, and really, once grunge hit, and the internet came......changed(ruined) everything

  • The comments made about this type music, from this best era of music......and how much is was ACTUALLY GREAT MUSIC, is in the millions. That's just on this site. There's thousands of websites much the same. The reason plenty of people say "well, that song could never be relaeased today". YOU'RE RIGHT. Have you heard most of the crap that comes out now? I rewatched the grammys from 1983 and 1984 ONLY. And every song there sans 1 or 2 is better than everything in the last 10 years. FACT

  • Back when females didn't have to act like sluts to make it in the music industry.

  • These girls were so dynamic!! They are so different when June sings, yet they're soooo good regardless!!

  • Great song/video. I love all the cool shots of the athletes jumping too. Great timing considering the '84 Summer Olympics were that very same year

  • Cool song and Classic at it's best only by the pointer sistaz!

  • they were so cool. they used this song on the Bounce fabric softener commercial back in 85'. there was a 4th sister, oldest, he one who sang automatic.

  • @TeslaDRay The oldest sister, Ruth, is still with the group. The second youngest sister, Bonnie, quit the group. Ruth is the lead vocal on Automatic.

  • @summer489

    oh, thanks.

  • i loves music from 80s always

  • oh love the key change at 3.15 :)

  • Do it *JUNE*...I LOVE YOU *RIP*

  • RIP June

  • Would have been better if they had a big fat guy with no shirt on doing the tripple jump.

  • Runners with tube socks! lmao

  • really 80's!

  • @LexxilsBoss why are you 'like' a teenager? Or are you a teenager, but have the compulsion to put 'like' in every sentence?

  • 3:57 YouTube video: Pointer Sisters 1984 video of their hit song Jump (For My Love).

March 19, 1946: birth of Ruth Pointer, American singer; best known for being the eldest member of The Pointer Sisters.

  • @MrThedorkknight

@moproducer Reading is hard isnt it?

Depends...what have you been trying to read?

  • @moproducer Yeah sorry i read it wrong oh the irony.

  • Here some ugly dresses

  • @MyAndo123

Any dress is beautiful if a Pointer Sister is wearing it.

  • @RodLash they look DOWN RIGHT SEXY!

  • This is just tremendous. Had a crush on Anita when I was a kid.

  • Who's the one on the right? I want to marry her.

  • The Pointer Sisters went to my High School a few years ahead of me. So did Clint Eastwood before them!

Great video, brings back good memories.

  • Great video, Luiscm!! And I really enjoyed the long jumpers and high jumpers. If you ever do another one of this video, see if you can find some film clips of David "Skywalker" Thompson, Julius Erving, Michael Jordan, and even good ol' Dave Cowens in his early days with the Boston Celtics. All those former NBA players could really jump to the moon!!

  • Now this is what you call music, not that cr@p they play on the radio today!

  • this song just jumped into my head and I havent heard it and years--this one and 'he's so shy'...so I had to come to youtube and listen!! This is why youtube rocks!

  • Classy,sexy ladies,fantastic record.

  • Donald Trump's House Of Wings!!!!

  • I bump this jam while doing plyometrics!

  • This song makes you get on your feet even if u an't in the mood!!

  • RIP June Pointer, the lead singer on this song.

  • Gr8 song. 1 of my favs wiv Automatic & I'm So Excited. (Y)

  • Strange. Two bands released a song called "Jump" in (or around) 1984. The Pointer Sisters & Van Halen, but both bands couldn't be more opposite.

  • june pointer passway 6 years ago she good singer

  • I remember the best scene from Love Actually when I hear this song :)

  • I guess 36 people are too heavy to JUMP!

  • hugh grant addict!

  • @XdarkshadowchyldeX Hahah. I can't help it :P

  • This video is hotness, square in your face!

  • thankyou Hugh Grant for reminding me of this song I had forgoten

  • There's this grasshopper that's always playing this song outside my window...

  • FUCK GIRLS ALOUD

  • Certainly grossly underrated singers. Nobody made gospel-style singing sound

    more 80's

  • Once you've gone black, you never go back !

  • @greenroadster Once you've gone black, YOU DON'T WANT TO COME BACK!

  • One of the best songs ever made...always make me feel like a kid!!!

  • 36 people can't jump.

  • @HoboGus as of 4/29/2011, 38 people can't jump...Probably fans of Justin Bieber!

  • @HoboGus make that 38 that carnt jump THAT IS REAL SAD one of the best songs of the 80's

  • @HoboGus No, 36 people have parents who have never taken the time to expose them to the classics!!!!!!!

  • I remember hearing at the time this came out that they were originally going to name the song "Jump", but due to Van Halen's "Jump", they decided to call it "Jump (For my Love)". Interesting bit of trivia. Whether this is true or not, I don't know.

  • @MrAAA3330 It is true -- I saw Anita tell that story in a VH1 interview or something.

  • Doing a Pointer concert tonight--remembering these exciting, talented women. Saw them in AC on new years eve, 1984, I think. Couldn't get enough of them. Was deeply saddened when June passed away a few years ago. She died and the world lost a bit of it's soul.

  • Oakland California's best sisters around! What ever happened to them?

  • @kja427 The Pointer Sisters are still active. Issa Pointer (Ruth's daughter) filled the third position for a while. Now Sadako Johnson (Ruth's granddaughter) is the third member.

  • Respond to this video... The Pointer Sisters are still active. Rumor has it that a new album is the works. Issa Pointer (Ruth's daughter) sang with the group for a while before going solo. Now Ruth's granddaughter, Sadako Johnson, is with the group.

  • @summer489 they are playing at a casino not that far from me.

  • THIS is whaT I cALL MUSic,,,,/?

  • this video was promoting the Olympic games right??? :P

  • I love how this song is played on "Love Actually" and Hugh Grant is dancing to this!!!!!!!! That was a classic scene!!!!!!!

  • @Tukee85 That's the exact same memory that this song evokes for me too Tukee85! LOVE it!

  • @Tukee85 absolutley adore that film!

  • June Pointer sang lead on this 1. Billboard's #18 song of '84. Originally was called just, 'Jump', but, they didn't want it confused with Van Halen's hit of the same name. That's where the (for my love) came from. The Pointers ht #3 soul, and pop, #11 AC, in Billboard. God bless y'all, Pointers! RIP, June!

  • @DaveWollenberg Should have read more posts before posting mine. Evidently it is true about the name thing. I've never heard anyone speak of it since I remember hearing about it on the radio years ago. Seeing what you wrote caused me to realize that that is exactly the way that I heard it stated also.
