  • Wow - they had the skeletons on the train route way back when... That's awesome!

  • I hate Cedar Point today, nuthing but steel rollercoaster structures every where and noise.

  • These were truly the Golden Years of Cedar Point and I remember all of this so well! Thank you for posting this!

  • If you want a old film in Cedar Point you can search "Cedar Point 1978" in you tube.

  • We used to vacation there every year for about ten years from the mid 70's to mid 80's. I haven't been back to the park since 1989 when I graduated High School. I wish I could bring back everyone with me who'se never been before. It's the most beautiful location for any amusement park in my mind. Thanks for sharing your memories.

  • when did they take the boats out

  • Grew up in Huron just down the road... I remember a lot of this. Was 6 years old in '63...

  • no blue streak wow

  • Wow, that's awesome that Boneville has been there all these years. And it's interesting to see that high school marching bands used to visit Cedar Point during the sixties as well, I always thought that was somewhat of a recent trend.

  • too bad they had to take out the train station and water tower for Millenium Force...

  • my goodness! wow! that video is awesome! thank you for sharing such a wonderful piece of amazing history of a beautiful and memorable place. take 5 stars for your generous work.

  • My thanks to all who have responded so kindly.

  • wrong water ride, the water ride in the video is the Mill Race - it was in the front of the park

  • Nice throwback video GOOFBAUGH.i go to Cedar Point probaly twice a year.the train ,the ghost town, the skytrack all still going strong!

  • Deffinetly hang onto that video. I worked down there at Cedar point in 2001 and 2002 and am interested in its history and that is an excellent glimpse into its past.

  • oh my god! hang on to that film w all your might! Born and raised in sandusky i know what a treasure that is. Many memories revisited. thankyou.

  • me and my mom loved the old water ride but

they put the dumb maverick there :/

  • WWL was a great ride but when you look at the supports you could tell it was about time to take it down.. it was gonna be taken down anyway

  • me and my mom loved the old water ride but

they put the dumb maverick there :/

  • I can't believe all the rides that they got rid of. It's kind of sad.

  • its so weird to compare that to how it is today, the people just look so much more nicer, people are really big assholes now.

  • This is a national treasure. Thank you for sharing it with us!

  • lol I live by sandusky but havn't been there for a couple years now

  • So much of that is still there, and quite a bit isn't anymore. I grew up going to Cedar Point once every couple of years, then made a point to go yearly for a few years. Now, I'm on the other side of the country and missing it horribly. Thank you so much for putting this up. It makes me so happy. And so homesick. I very much enjoyed seeing what it was like years before I was born.

  • there used to be 2 tracks for the trains back then if you ever get on the train look to the right and ull see were the train used to run and also theyd used to have cowboys jump off the train and fire at eachother

  • A Treasure - thank you so much

Some of it is still there today

  • Priceless. wonderful. I can't really describe how great this footage is. Thank you so much!

  • i misssss cedar point so so so so so much!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is awesome! I'm a Cedar Point freak too!!! RIDE ON!

  • This movie was absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! I love it, this should be shown to people before entering the park to let them know where Cedar Point's roots are... You are lucky to have such an awesome grandfather, and thank you for sharing some of your families history!

  • wow

  • I was born in 1962 and barely remember my first trip to Cedar Point in 1968. It's great to see some of the old rides and attractions that no longer exist there today. Thanks for the memories.

  • What a treasure! Your Grandfather made a beautiful film! Made many memories come alive for me! Thanks!

  • very nice video

  • very unique

  • that is so cool.

  • Great video. *rates 5 stars* It's nice to see footage of my favorite place in the world 25 years before my time... especially footage of the Scamper - a coaster I never got to ride.

  • I was born in 1972 and I can remember things shortly before Star Wars and to see things from the early 70's and before is scary. I see movies and things, but not everyday people and life. Poor film quality though.

  • great video.

nice to see things from the time

when people still had an ounce of class

    and a decent education

  • GREAT VIDEO TO CHERISH

  • Thanks for the memories, I only hope my Super8 films have held up and I can get them converted

  • Wow, unbelieveable, thats awesome man, park has changed so much...

  • So very nice of you to share your family films of Cedar Point! There are many people out there that must have such films but you went to the extra effort to post what you have! We are all grateful for you having done so!

  • Thanks for sharing the good old times. I wonder if you have any footage of the old Euclid Beach Amusement Park( Cleveland) or Chippewa Lake Park (Medina) They were all cool.

  • wow.... thats C.P.?? man it must have sucked ass whithout all those fast coasters like millenium force or dragster... i can't believe all that was cedar point before today....

  • You should have seen it before '61. Nothing but a beach, a dance hall and a merry go round.

  • I can't believe how much the park has changed.

    Love the video.

  • WOW... I am a native Sanduskian, or what C.P. employees refer to as a "towny".... I've lived here my whole life working at C.P. for many years and that's the first time that i've ever seen Cedar Point from an earlier time other than the 80's to now.... That was really entertaining. Thank you and your Grandpa!

  • Ahh, simpler gentler times. Now Cedar Point is only interested in scaring the piss out of us! Not that there's anything wrong with that...

  • THanks that was way cool and took me down memory lane.

  • Thanks for posting this. We live in Elyria and we spend alot of time at Cedar Point. I love to see what it use to look like.

  • What a great video, thanks so much for posting!

  • That was fantastic! We live 45 min. away from CP. Its hard but fun to remember it then and compare it to today.

  • pretty cool stuff; 10 years before i was born, and 20 years before my 1st trip at 10 years old.

  • coollll
