I think I got seriously addicted to Pelican during the past week. :D I listened to all of their albums at least a million times, and I still can't get bored of it. It's quite amazing, how simple, and yet how ingenious their music is, such talent is very hard to find in these days. I'm glad I found this band. :)
@Lamantincore Pelican was the gateway band that got me addicted to Russian Circles and many others. Ive listened to their music at least 2 million times, I find their music more crisp, and the drummer 'Dave Turncrantz' is by far the best drummer ive heard in the last 20 years.
@85matt85 Totally with you about Dave being the best drummer I've heard. He doesn't even have to have pointless, 15 minute solos in the middle of shows to prove it, either. He's just mind blowing.
Wow. This is the rhythm ive been searching for of my known life until now. Something really heavy and melodic.
If Sigur Ros or Mogwai are like swans that glide and soar over thermals this track is like a jumbo jet doing twirls in the Grand Canyon. So relentless, so determined.
Because of this, I am going to take that drive over to the Mojave desert and sleep under the fucking stars with this to figure my life out. Thank you for posting this. My life needed a direction
Wow, interesting remake. I'm not sure which one I like ore...the original has that brutal involuntary headbang crushing vibe, but there's some strangely beautiful and positive about this despite it being heavy.
I've heard backlit many times and its a great song but I like 'Weight' by them even better. its even more emotion filled and provoking. I only discovered this 'pink mammoth' song after awhile; had listened to mammoth about 30 times so I thought that this would just be some joke. It wasnt
@sociopathicregret I'm glad you brought up "optimistic", It's obviously a combo that most metal bands to dare touch but I think it makes for some of the most unique and amazing music on the planet. Listen to "Backlit" by Isis, it is one of the most emotion provoking songs I've heard.
I just listened to the 'heavy' original. Not very heavy. Maybe I listened to the wrong one.
