I saw him a couple years back at House of Blues in NYC. He was fantastic Had some family members up there with him. I was a fan of his back pre-beatles. Really good to see him still rockin and having a good time.
Look up his biography. He is a songwriter/producer and performer. Started at 19. Within a few years was writing #1 Grammy wining hits for many other artists not only in R&B, but in country. He continues doing this to date. Icon to Springsteen & Van Zandt. When they hit big they collaberated with and produced him. Any musician (yes, I am) with an R&B/country background will tell you the man is no minor anything. Look him up on line. Our opinions don't make him major, documented history does.
U.S Bonds can kick. Listen to his catalogue before you call him a minor player. Twist Twist Senora, School Is Out, Copy Cat hear his catalogue. I have to verify that he's in the Hall. What year was he inducted? he deserves it. Most all of his songs are good. The cat can sing. He's no minor player. Gary kicks!
Great!!!!! This band was one of my favourite band in 1963 (in Hungary!!!). This song was at the end of movie "Blues Brothers 2000", if I hear well.....
Gary Bonds was one of the father's of rock and roll? You don't know what you're talking about. If I remember right he had about 2 hit songs and then faded like smoke into heaven. Bonds was a journeyman rock and roller--nothing more or less therefore this video is average. A father of rock and roll? I can't get over that classification.
You were probably not a dancer, because Gary Bonds sang songs that made you get up and dance. That what rock and roll is to me, fun music that makes you get up off you butt and DANCE!!!!1111
Oh how wrong you are. I not only remember the entire panorama of rock and roll, I danced through it. Bonds's songs were catchy, very danceable but in no way was he a father of rock and roll. He was a one or two trick wonder and faded out fast. The man hasn't had a hit record in 50 years.
I don't think it's how many records an artist makes, it is the quality and how well they are remembered. I did not mean anything negative about you being a dancer, I'm sorry if it sounded that way. And I think that there are many fathers of rock and roll (Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Elvis, and all the other artists that made songs with a great dancing beat).
As I told you, I saw it all and Gary Bonds was a very minor player in the entire R&R "show." He shouldn't be mentioned with the likes of Berry, Richard, Elvis and guys like Fats, Jerry Lee, Orbison and several others.
You saw it all the way YOU wanted to see it. That is what is great about our wonderful US music industry, there is something for everyone!! You don't like Gary Bonds, and I did'nt care for Jerry Lee Lewis. Who is to say who is a "minor player" in the vast ocean of rock and roll? Try not to be so negative.
Book Gary for next year's 's 'Super Bowl'!

On the contrary; I liked Gary Bonds even though he was a minor player. On the other hands, Jerry Lee was MAJOR when he was sober.
