@BIT1FFY yeh i no what ya mean mate, iv done all that on preferences and the sounds come through nicely, but its only when recording... and nah man iv only made other tunes with the mouse on edit mode like so iv never use the keyboard to make one yet... its fustratin lmaoo

iv only just brought reason... and iv been trying to make the reese bass like you have been, but when im trying to record and do the notes on edit mode, i hold midi keyboard key down for a few seconds and it gives a short cut off note as if i just tapped the key and doesn't record the rest... but if i do it with my mouse i can record the note for as long as i want... can any one tell me what i have to do to get my keyboard working properly?

@DjLukeBradford As long as all your Keyboard and Controller Settings in Preferences are right your keyboard should work jus fine, have you had the same problem recording notes on any other tracks? In Edit or Song mode. TBH id suggest posting in a Reason forum rather than here as most of us using these tutorials are all musical/Reason nublets. WOOT for the noob!!!!

@MrBgreer1234 go to the sequencer bit, make sure that the combinator ( 'bass') channel is highlighted then click on 'edit mode' - press 'w' then draw :)

Not a good reece IMO, i compared this one to spor, noisa etc,.and this particualr "reece" is not a real reece. I think it takes more than 10 mins to make a reece, im working on a reece myself right now and it has taken me over 3 weeks On/off to make it sound thick and clean while still being Ripping and evil.

It might workout for Liquid DNB but not for real dnb

I think it is possible coz i bought a midi keyboard before finding out i could have used my yamaha keyboard so don't don't buy a midi keyboard unless you are certain you can't use your one. If you let me know what your setup is (audio interface if any, keyboard etc) and i may be able to help with how to sort that out. Hope I helped :)

learn some basic scales, it doesnt take much to make an agressive riff like the one hes using here. the fx and filtering do alot of the work in electronic music, so a few basic riffs can create a song that remains interesting even though its quite simple.

@IllegalMavamaarten there are lots of good dnb songs without strong or traditional melodies. For example take Davip & Encode - Vamonos. That song alternates between 2 notes for the entire song (except for the chainsaw reese but that is just sporadic.) YOU CAN DOOO ITTTTT. Its all about syncopation.
