At 2:09 When you delete the partition dont you loose the system files which you shouldnt delete?And How do i look up how many partitions i currently have?
@zRaViHD What i did these is delete the partition that I made during the video and just allow windows to make the partition for me when it goes through tis install.
See this video here i did for lockergnome on how to check your partitions. I will add it as an annotation on this video

I have norton secutriy 2010, on xp, if I install windows 7 on it, and choose custom install, will it delete norton security, or what will happen to the security software? I am downloading windows 7 ultimate 32-bit from xp, 1gb ram, 2ghz!!???? anyway, norton security has been activated for 1 year and i have 158 days left, wat do u think I shud do, and wat will happen?
@jovenrosario2000 Windows 7 will include most of the basic drivers to get your computer up and running. You will still want to go to your computer and/or hardware manufacture's website to download their drivers to make sure you get full functionality that the hardware manufacture is providing.

Depends. If you are using an upgrade disc it might need to be able to read the OS before working but if its a full version it should be able to install without needing a prior OS. Just make sure to backup everything before installing.

64 bit can use upto 128GB of ram while 32bit is limited to just 4GB of ram. Apps created in 64 bit tend to run faster, stabler and more efficient that 32 bit apps.

This could be serveral thigns that are wrong. You'll want to make sure your Hard Drive is detected in BIOS and then also check to make sure you don't need drivers for it to be recognized when an OS is installed. You might need to format the drive first then go for the install. Def do a google search and something should pop up more extensive that what I could tell you in the comments here in Youtube.
My Laptop's screen is cracked and i use an external monitor to be able to see my screen. When it started the windows 7 installation process and restarted my computer, i couldnt see what was going on (because it wont recognize the external monitor until i am logged in the comp). what's the difference between custom install and upgrade? i plan to install it and start fresh i just bought this comp. a month ago so i don't have anything important on it.
upgrade does a inplace upgrade and doesn't delete apps and files and such. (although you should always backup) Custom will allow you to do a complete clean install with no apps just windows 7 and what it comes with you will have to reinstall everything else yourself.

ok so I first let my cd drive be the first one to boot rite and then I do a custom intallation, in which I delete my old c -drive that I was using for vista and create a new one for windows 7. I find some new option in the windows 7 rc installation vs the vista install, is when you create a new partition the system creates another one for the system files with 100mb of size.

ummm... when u turn on your pc pres DELETE repeatedly till you see bios screen, then choose dvd-rom as a 1st boot device. Then save and restart pc. Be sure windows cd is in the rom. When you restart your pc after changing cd rom as a 1st boot device, pc should boot from cd/dvd (you can see a message "press any key to boot from cd/dvd. so press any..") and the windows setup will apear. Format the partition ( C drive) where your old win xp is, after that, select that disk to install your vista.
This question is getting stupid now. Windows 7 has been out for months now, over 70% of the feedback has been positive. What do you think? Course it's better than Vista and XP is too light weight and old to be rendered good anymore.

You'll want to make sure your Hard Drive is detected in BIOS and then also check to make sure you don't need drivers for it to be recognized when an OS is installed. You might need to format the drive first then go for the install. Def do a google search and something should pop up more extensive that what I could tell you in the comments here in Youtube.

My Laptop's screen is cracked and i use an external monitor to be able to see my screen. When it started the windows 7 installation process and restarted my computer, i couldnt see what was going on (because it wont recognize the external monitor until i am logged in the comp). I am not able to fix my laptops LCD for a while, and i am stuck somewhere through the installation process, any suggestions on how i can get my laptop to recognize my monitor when not logged? message me if you can help

what's the difference between custom install and upgrade? i plan to install it and start fresh i just bought this comp. a month ago so i don't have anything important on it.

upgrade does a inplace upgrade and doesn't delete apps and files and such. (although you should always backup) Custom will allow you to do a complete clean install with no apps just windows 7 and what it comes with you will have to reinstall everything else yourself.

So i got a windows 7 premium edition today, and was wondering how to install it, i got Windows Vista 64bit now, so can i just insert the disc and choose install now, and upgrade? Or do i need to back up my files to a separate Drive, i got a 200g drive i can keep with me, and how should i start? ok so I first let my cd drive be the first one to boot rite and then I do a custom intallation, in which I delete my old c -drive that I was using for vista and create a new one for windows 7. Please help. Or do I just install windows 7 on top of that c-drive and they would automatically delete my old files in the c-drive.

mine was okay
copied and then expanded etc.
but after it shut down....it sucked
It was originally doing its thing on my original graphics card
but when it started up it switched to my new one only it is completely black/blank screen
so basically I'll have to try and take out my new card and try it all over again......
at first it would not install on a brand new drive until I copied my old drive to it....just to erase it all again
i'm sick of 7 already

I find some new option in the windows 7 rc installation vs the vista install, is when you create a new partition the system creates another one for the system files with 100mb of size.

question: i want to install windows vista ultimate on my pc. but i don't know how! I have to choise from: 1. Put the instalation an an dvd and format all hard drives (but i don't know why the Bios is not seeing the DVD); and 2. to update but a lot of the XP parts will remain in the Computer...and..i want to install it on Local C (where my xp is). So in this update i must have an operating sistem for update! And if i have viruses they will remain? What should i do?? PLz help!

ummm... when u turn on your pc pres DELETE repeatedly till you see bios screen, then choose dvd-rom as a 1st boot device. Then save and restart pc. Be sure windows cd is in the rom. When you restart your pc after changing cd rom as a 1st boot device, pc should boot from cd/dvd (you can see a message "press any key to boot from cd/dvd. so press any..") and the windows setup will apear. Format the partition ( C drive) where your old win xp is, after that, select that disk to install your vista.

This question is getting stupid now. Windows 7 has been out for months now, over 70% of the feedback has been positive. What do you think? Course it's better than Vista and XP is too light weight and old to be rendered good anymore.

yes but i have used vista xp and win 7 and i have to say that win 7 is not that much newer and faster then vista and there is no speed increase if you go from xp to win 7 so i say stick with vista until microsoft stops briging shit out.
