Had Dave and Trey just chosen to make this a side project they could have not only opened up to a new fanbase as this band, as well kept their merit as one of the (imo best) death metal band to date. This song itself doesn't embody the MA sound but is still fucking great. I believe this will one day become a guilty pleasure for many metal fans.

I will say that, as someone who only discovered Morbid Angel very recently, this sounds COMPLETELY unlike a huge majority of their previous work. I can see why a lot of older fans really don't like the album. Also said as an outsider to the band, I honestly really like this album, so sue me.

ok well, just listened to the whole thing, and being a Morbid Angel fan since about 15 years old (33 now) I have decided that I can accept the change in style and enjoy it. I kinda miss the Sumerian/Lovecraft themes, but then Domination went a different route, too, and it turned out alright. Actually I like Illud better than Domination (of which maybe half of it was good to my ears).

@ternsenzen Nothing is techno in their style, they use sounds that are made by electronic stuff, but in a metal way. I like music if it has a point, if its not commercial, if there is complexity, innovation, or a message. It is different from other stuff from them, but its not bad. Its not like they just threw some powerchords and started to sing with autotune. I dont like techno that much, but nothing against it. And there are like only three songs on this album that use these sounds
