Spin it as U may, the texting Young Lady NPS employee's look of terror in her face says it all, she panicked and bolted, the second person down...@ 2:29 another NPS employee is the last one out, suggesting she cleared out the patrons before she herself left...Good job ! It appears the dude with the hat is/was making sure his family is out or perhaps an UC Homeland Security Agent ?

If she "panicked and ran", why does she appear once again at 2:28? Also, if the WM had collapsed, no one at the top would have had time to get out anyway.

Maybe she had to run down and open an emergency door or something? or sound an alarm? No audio makes it tough and she does seems to come back at 2:28, note the thin black band on her right wrist.

All these comments about the first ranger 'running away.' First off, there is no sound, but you can tell she is talking to people and then leading the first person down the stairs. Then at 02:29 you can see her running back down the stairs AGAIN after everyone is gone. It is obviously her. Given she is not seen coming back up the shown staircase, she must have came back up from another direction.

As a Californian, this is just so incredibly bizarre seeing a large earthquake in Washington D.C.....good grief. Well, I hate the damn things, so you guys totally have my sympathy!!! I'm glad a lot of Easterners had the sense to run outside, especially with all the unreinforced masonry back there...makes me nervous just thinking about it.

I had the same reaction when the quake hit while I was cleaning our tiny Baltimore apartment bathroom. My feet carried me straight through the back of the apartment through the dining room, the living room, out the front door. I thought this old brick building was caving in on me like so many do on the news as the walls swayed and the building groaned. I was even more surprised when ALL of our neighbors were also outside looking around just as stunned as me. Phones were down for several hours.
