  • I'm going to assume that's not your average 350 motor

  • mate that is fantastic.

any chance you could pm me the specs on the engine install + mounts.

    lovely job

  • What are the rear end?

  • what headers did you use?

  • sounds like its running on saw dust wehn idling

  • wow chevy 350 why duse your 350 run so hard in the timing atvancemint im gessing

  • does the V8 come from factory????

  • @eB42595 wow

  • @eB42595

Yeah they are made from NISSAN ,

    NISSAN V8 SMAL BLOCK JAJA

  • my dad had 1 but he sold it. i wanted it lol.

  • what kind of headers do u have for that?

  • what model did you get your diff from?

  • All the V8 swaps and RBs really boils down to, do you have the money?

V8s swaps are cost effective and produce more power. V8s are very common engines and can be found anywhere. More expensive versions like the LS1 can cost you up to 8000, but you can get a turbo350 with a 350 chevy small block v8 for 500.

Now for the RBs, yea they are legendary, yea they are cool. Why do you think they cost so much? Its an asian vette. Theres a reason why ricers love their 4 bangers, they can't afford the 6.

  • @ZEEUL8TR Myself and ebay don't think they cost so much. They can be less expensive than a '04 civic with 5k worth of gaudy junk on them unless you are wanting show quality paint/restored.

Why's everyone in love with 4 bangers? Same reason they are watching American Idol. Cause they were informed that's what to do now. Bunch of followers. Most people lack the patients for the weeks/months to track down the right car when civics are everywhere.

  • @stang661 Knowledge from a wisemen, listen and learn boys. Nothing is ever too expensive if you think it was worth it.

  • mean cam

  • Haters gonna hate. I like the V8 swap, personally. I like your car, too. It looks like you put a lot of effort into making the conversion stealth and keeping it stock on the outside. Mad props.

RB25 will not make the kind of power the SBC (in the same way, powerband is going to be WAY different) and costs twice as much (the mounts are more, trans is more, EFI is more). And, to those whom've said mounts for RBs don't exist: check out McKinney Motorsport.

  • damn i bet that thing flys

  • hahahaha that would piss my neighbors off big time nice car man im thinkin about getting one also

  • That was awesome! Wish we could have n afford V8 engines in Malaysia!

  • that is fucken the fucken shiet

  • That motor sounds like it's ready to blow a gasket. LOL

  • i want a datsun! love 70's cars

  • Did you use the JTR kit or did you custom mount it?

  • do a burnout or something brah..

  • awesome car. Ecept for the rear bumper, yukkk. There should be none, especially not big ones...

  • @TheBONGONLY The bumper is there for protection, not for looks. If you got rear-ended in a small car like this you're dead.

  • @Sickshot12 Do you honestly believe that bumper will save your *** in the event of an accident? You're dead either way.

  • @aegisforex Sickshot is trying to be smart lol. BUT today engineers blend in the good looks and protection together... So your pint is pointless.. Defending old shitty bumber looks and bullshitiing about saftey LOL LOL LOL

  • ahaha meztiso!

  • a carby, stroker v8 with 4.11 diff gears thats a combination for fun and alot of useage of fuel sounds nice good lumpy idol mate

  • each to their own, i woulda put an RB in it

  • you woulda been spending 3 times as much then!

  • i dont know how much that v8 costs but a RB25DET costs 1500 USD here

  • One can normally pickup a 350 V8 in decent shape pretty easily for about 500-800 USD. Also as of yet no one makes an RB25 conversion Kit for any Datsun Z series model, That Means all your mounts will need to be custom fabricated. Also for 1500 Dollars you may be able to buy the RB25 but will it come with all the rest of the necessary electronic equipment necessary to make it run, ie Fuel Pump, ECM, turbo timer, Voltage regulator, etc. There is a lot more than you think to an RB swap.

  • i have a spare rb25 in the shed, so for me i guess itll be cheaper

my personal opinion is keep a jap car jap, not put an american v8 in it.

  • At some point that engine had to cost you something spare or otherwise. Either way their is still the direct or indirect cost of the engine not to mention the opportunity cost of dropping it in. And in My personal Opinion when is the last time you saw a Jap car when the Le Mans let alone one with an RB25. To my knowledge no car with any RB series Engine has yet won the Le Mans.

  • whats the le mans got to do with anything? an RB built engine holds the fastest race time of the bathurst 1000 when all its competitors use V8s.. but that has nothing to do with this does it?

its a jap car and i think it should stay jap all the way.. and is capable of results like this video:

    /watch?v=GqvZoycDoiY

  • Not knowing anything about placing this type of motor in a car like this, what are the main things involved? Awesome car by the way.

  • beauty

  • Sound's bad ass are you running open headers?

  • I had to crush my dads old 78' he just let it sit out in the weather for like 16 years whole body was rusted through.Damn i wanted that car.

  • it's really thump'n hard. what cam you runn'n??

  • lol 0:34 sounds like a helocopter, nice car

  • the rear bumpers doesn't match the 280z

  • Common 80's swap. Sweet.

  • Lose the rear window louvers. Seriously. Get rid of them. They were ugly in the 1970s, and they're even uglier in 2009.

  • dude louvers are the best dress up of that car that anyone ever made. besides the best cars ever made were in the 60s and 70s!!!!

  • @riddickx666

    agreed

  • hell no they aren't ugly! ive got a 1982 280zx turbo with the "razorback look". looks great!!!

  • JAPANESE MONSTER!!

  • YEAH THE THE REAR BUMPER SUCKS!

  • I like everything except for those bumpers :/

  • @FANADICALCOWHEAD HELL I LOVE THE BIG BUMPERS...LOL

  • @mphk55

I love them too, as long as they're not on the car.

  • @FANADICALCOWHEAD I was gonna say, they make low-profile bumpers, plus you can get JDM pieces I'm sure.

  • @FANADICALCOWHEAD hey say what you want about datsun bumpers... my datsuns been hit by a bronco doing 40 while at a dead stop and the bronco had worse damage... gotta love those 1/4 inch thick steel bumpers haha

  • thats a nice car !

  • That's a badass car man. I would love to own that baby. I'd take it out for a spin every day

  • Damn, that thing's clean as a mothafucka! I'd love to take it for a spin....

  • woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sounds great!!!!!!!!

  • Nice looking 280z, usually not a big fan of them, looks wise.

  • Mmm Yummy!!! sounds wonderful

  • dude cherry red is a bad idea where i come from cherry red has been translated to arrest me red man. Im just warning you red cars are easy to spot by cops and your fucked of your going 120 which these cars are easily capable stock

  • my 17th b-day is comin up soon im getin 280zx AND YES i have to fix it myself well me and my unce but i was thinkin of paint and im going to do cheery red with 2 white racing stripes down the middle im changing the back lights because 280s stock lights are ugly as fuck so im thinkin circle lights a pair on each end what do u think?

  • sounds good but depending on interior color you should maybe consider black with maybe cherry red stripes or white stripes? If not your car sounds sick already.

  • just beautiful

  • One of the car owners painted my Z muscle Red-orange like 20 years ago.

I prefer the white Oem color it was

but now it is oxidized into orange similar to your car

  • thats awesome

  • The sickest thing about it is you went with the proper manual, for a proper sports car, for proper road course driving, autos are for drag racing. BTW, go ahead and rev it to 6k next time, your plugs are gonna foul at that low engine speed. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHa

  • hole crap! what cam u got in it?

  • Love it in Queens, NY we had a lot of these that huge engine bay could house any motor.

  • cause now it can do 170 and sounds badass

  • Yes, that it true but where can he do that legally??? exactly the Inline 6 is a little too much in the first place.

  • Who said anything about legally!

  • engine sound reminds me of boats i used to go to trip

  • that shit is tite i might have to do that to mine

  • For some reason, white people cant stand wearing shoes, I mean now your socks are dirty, you do recognize this right?

  • what are those shades on the back window called?

  • rear window louvers

  • nice p.s always wear shoes outside !

  • How do you get away with smog for that on a 1977 car

  • it doesn't have to go through smog he can get an antique licence

  • People should come to Iowa we don't have emissions testing!

  • definitely need some more beefy tires

  • :( couldnt had thrown out the i28 and put in an ka atleast??? keep it nissan??

  • NOPE!

  • why te fuck go to a ka? lol thats going towards rice yo

  • i dont know about the 280z but the 280zx 2.8 is made by hitachi and not by nissan so from the beginning those car dont have nissan motor

  • very well done.

  • wow.. Nice! Its soo odd to see such a small car giving out all that Noise!

  • I used to think that until on my datsun 620 (l20 which is a 4 banger) i had nothing but headers on and started it up to move it 0.o My neighbors didn't like it very much haha

  • how did it handle compared to stock? are you running aluminum heads?

  • you have to use a smaller balancer to clear the steering rack good job on getting it that far back tho the little extra work makes a big differance did you get the kit through JTR?

  • what kind of tires are those? specs?

  • Question: do you have the right harmonic balancer on that crank? The motor looks like it wiggles around too much. The motor mounts good and tight? Or is that the over sized cam shaking that block?

    Sweet Z though!!

  • This car's rally stripes, rims, and rear louvres remind me so much of my 280, it's almost scary! What make was the 355, again? Is it a bored out Chev, or something?

  • too bad you have such a mild cam in the engine...:)

  • i wish my camaro sounded that good haha. what cam are you running?

  • think you need to get rid of the bumpers and put teh chromes back.

  • realy nice car but the fron and rear bumpers are ridiculasly huge lol.

  • What's wrong with carbs?

  • rice boys like this guy dont know how they work

  • yeah, i think i have to agree. i mean, carbs are good! and i see some ricers dont like my first comment.

  • yeah i like carbs and efi both have their place n purpose. but most ppl dunno how much money it goes into putting on a hi performance efi system onto a motor hahhaha thatll work right, not some tbi bull shit

  • yeah, i gotta agree with you, both are good and both have their place. and EFI is expensive cause you gotta buy injectors, ecu's, throttle bodies the right fuel pressure regulator. that stuff is really pricey especially when your trying to get as much performance as possible.

  • don't they know that the car comes stock with carbs (even tho its not the stock motor)

  • not the 280Z though. All 280Z's had EFI. unless they were converted to run with carbs. but the 240Z and 260Z did have carbs.

  • true, but I was refering to the older model z's, they added the Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection sytems in late 75, that and the bulky front and rear black bumpers...should have stuck with the jdm chrome.

  • ok, i see. though i agree with you, the really shouldve stuck with the jdm chrome. i do like the bumpers on my '77, but they are kinda bulky.

  • lol japanesse qualilty? I doubt thats a japaneese v8 in that datsun

  • ....that sound is brilliant!! It sounds like the drum intro to Van Halens Hot for teacher!! Brilliant!! Japanese quality!!

  • haha spot on!

  • how much would that ride cost?

  • wicked!

  • If any of you live in the dallas area i have a 1976 280z that i might sell...message me for more information

  • looks and sounds great!

  • man, that is killer.

  • love the lopey cam

too bad its not a sleeper anymore....

    bet its a fun ride

  • what kind of issues did you have with the engine bay . I am thinking about the same build

  • Arturo Rosales "What is the issue????" BAH HAHAHA

  • vary nice what size cam and pipes u put in it. nice chevy coffee can

  • nice, for me i recommend keeping the original wheels since it balances the weight,my teacher has a 240 with a corvette Z06 engine,he said that he kept the rims because it keeps the traction and balance intact,so i would recommend keeping them, just put high performance tires

  • couldnt afford shoes after the buld huh? haha nice Z.
