another "forgotten" great!fat was unlucky to play in the golden nba era with so many talented players in general and of course guards!he was something between j.kidd and rondo and if he play now could be the best guard in the league!back then was n't casue he had ahead of him the3 best pg ever-magic,isiah and stockton,(oscar was something between pg and sg) and there were also players like moncrief,price,dennis johnson,sleepy floyd,ray richardson(if no drugs could be..),cheeks,theus,gus williams
It was scarcasm on why is nickname what "Fat" because he was like 6"2", 160 pounds. And he was known as the best rebounding guard from like 1985-1990 averaging 8 or 9 rebounds a game for several years
Yeah he should definitely be credited with 9 steals, there's just no way around it. Then the two that he almost had, I would say he has possession on the first but his momentum took him out of bounds. I bet they'd count that as a steal nowadays... Which would give him 10 for the game.
Also with this game in mind, Rajon Rondo plays similarly (with less of a jumper).
That's exactly what I thought! Lever was immensely talented and under-appreciated. He was a poor man's Magic in terms of on court impact. He had incredible ball handling ability and his jumper was very smooth. At some points his jumper looks a little like MJs to be honest.
@LamarMatic I think the plays where he knocked the ball out of bounds, or fell out of bounds before he had clear possession aren't credited as steals. Pretty impressive nonetheless.
1:06 - It's unclear whether Mike Brown had possession. I think this was counted as a rebound, not a steal. They announced he had 9 rebounds at halftime, and that matches up with your video (the other 8 rebounds were at 0:45, 0:51, 1:19, 1:26, 1:40, 2:04, 2:11 and 3:59)

Man, I used to love Lever and English. They played with total class.

1:53, they gave Lever an assist for the Schayes drive? Pretty generous.

Lever only had 6 steals in this game, not 9...

@dnardone Read the description and watch the video until the end. Then post again your thoughts on how many steals he had.

@dnardone Well I didn't count those two where he couldn't control the ball, then it would be eleven steals. You got to admit it's more than six.

@LamarMatic
The sure steals are at 1:34, 2:39, 6:16, 6:26, 6:58 and 8:02 in this video.
The following may be confused with steals:
1:06 - It's unclear whether Mike Brown had possession. I think this was counted as a rebound, not a steal. They announced he had 9 rebounds at halftime, and that matches up with your video (the other 8 rebounds were at 0:45, 0:51, 1:19, 1:26, 1:40, 2:04, 2:11 and 3:59)

@dnardone
3:14 - It's a steal, but credited to Danny Schayes for knocking the ball out.
3:20 - Ditto.
7:15 - Lever knocks it away, but never gets possession in bounds.
8:29 - Ditto.

@LamarMatic Naw he's right, Lever only had 6 steals.

@LamarMatic Doesn't matter. The boxscore says 6 steals. Thats all he had.
