  • there is a reasen why they drop the kids off. It aint just to do it.

They have no other choice. this law did more good then bad

  • Yes! this country makes raising a child impossible! unless you are filthy rich you cant possibly hope to raise healthy, educated children. I agree 100%. there are alot of dumb asses in here shouting out comments, when they them selves would do the same thing!

  • Wow, your ignorance is amazing.

  • that ladies a bitch for dropping of her child expecely sense shes leved with her for 18 years i hope if she has any family they never speak to her agian and she dies a lonley old fucking bitch she diserves to go to hell

  • If you don't want your fucking kid, might as well give 'em up, because if you don't want them, odds are the kid will grow to be fucked up because of an unloving mother/father. There should be nothing that keeps parents from doing this.

  • What a cowardly act. I have seen this on the news and my question is, Where are the fathers?? Dump them because they cannot get the mental health needs? B/S. This is going to leave an emotional scar. Father Flanagan(SP) is rolling in his grave repeating, "There is no such thing as a bad kid."

  • parents must have been desperate to drop off there kids

  • hey fuck you armolecj i'm from nebraska. why don't you just go kill yourself! mother fucker

  • what a bunch of ignorant hicks there are in nebraska! i heard about this a few months before it was voted in and one of the legislators was warning against this exact situation. what a bunch of retards

  • Ha, ha! Whats next? Spouses!

  • There should be no age cap. Safety for children is ageless. Its better that there be a place to drop off children than not. ~Raven

  • I am confused... her daughter was 18. She's legally an adult, no? Drop her off at a job center and tell her to get her own place. I don't think public funds should go to help "unruly" or lazy young adults.

  • Your limited understanding of this story has resulted in a comment that doesn't apply. If you had more information about this person (remember the "legislators will consider MENTAL HEALTH issues at a later date" comment in the clip? This girl has some severe mental illness issues and does not function well in society. Most often times the services our taxes pay for to help these struggling families isn't enough and this as families pour all their life savings in as well.

  • Well I feel bad for the girl, and you are correct in that the story does not say that the 18 year who was turned in has severe mental health issues. Just the term mental issues is subjective. It said her Mom turned her in because she was getting too difficult to control. Which could mean anything- it could mean she didn't want to respect a curfew, or wouldn't clean her room.

However, I still maintain that this girl is an adult. Are there no adult mental health services there?

  • The Lincoln mother who dropped off her 18-year-old daughter said she was repeatedly turned down, sought help from police, state social services authorities and the girl's school..had been diagnosed with a mental illness when she was 12 and had deep psychological scars from childhood abuse and from being left alone with her dead biological mother for a week..she felt she had no choice but to leave her daughter at the hospital after a recent flurry of assault, stealing...

    she is societies probm.

  • That is sad. I hope she gets the help she needs. Poor girl will probably never have a normal life.

  • ...Mind as well have dropped her off at County then.
