I am confused... her daughter was 18. She's legally an adult, no? Drop her off at a job center and tell her to get her own place. I don't think public funds should go to help "unruly" or lazy young adults.

If you had more information about this person (remember the "legislators will consider MENTAL HEALTH issues at a later date" comment in the clip? This girl has some severe mental illness issues and does not function well in society. Most often times the services our taxes pay for to help these struggling families isn't enough and this as families pour all their life savings in as well.

Well I feel bad for the girl, and you are correct in that the story does not say that the 18 year who was turned in has severe mental health issues. Just the term mental issues is subjective. It said her Mom turned her in because she was getting too difficult to control. Which could mean anything- it could mean she didn't want to respect a curfew, or wouldn't clean her room.

However, I still maintain that this girl is an adult. Are there no adult mental health services there?
