From this angle you should be filing the top edge, towards the face of the door, not away from it. The way you are doing it will rip the edge off and chip out the unsupported face. The correct way to do it is to lie the door on a flat surface and to file the top edge using an action like you described but always making the cut in towards the door, never away from it. Also, lifting the file is a lot of wasted energy, instead you should slide the file straight back with any up or down stroke.
this is y u shud set up a bevel trimmer and only have to use the file to remove just the glue and remove the trimmers lines it leaves on the laminate

Thank you - VERY helpful, I really want to use laminate and books just aren't as helpful as your video.
