@Mynameismewtwo Not a good gaming rig- a good graphics card cost at least $150. plus you have to pay for a case, power supply, harddrive, and at least a quad core CPU if you want to run games like Battlefield 3 and crysis 2 at really high if not max settings. I believe $600-800 is the cheapest or close to. I feel there's just no point in investing in a gaming PC if you can't play at max settings in 1080p or higher.

I think that the XBOX 720 AND PS4 will help because they will get closer to PC graphics so "consolitis" will be less and less noticeable. Of course PC will still own the living shit out of these consoles but at least the difference won't be as bad.

the publishers wolud have u believe pc gaming is dead, and are trying to kill it, but the truth is pc gaming is still very strong despite the attempts to get us to switch to a ps3 or xbox360. Developers don't want to make games for PC lead-platform anymore, because it's cheaper to make a simpler game around console specs, and still sell it for $60. Simple as that.
Piracy and console market better? Irrelevant. When they make a game for PC-first, it actually ends up BETTER on console. Sure, it won't look as good as it does on PC, but it will have more to offer none the less. Not just graphically, either.
Also, this article show extra features for Deus Ex Human Revolution for the PC. Companies wouldn't do this if it PC gaming was dying. They would just do a direct port to the PC with no specialized features. For the article just google "Deus Ex: Human Revolution on PC: hands-on with the best version of the game". And youtube "DCS a-10c warthog startup" to see that PC exclusives are still alive.

Keep in mind that people have been claiming the end of PC gaming for years and it's never happened. If anything, PC games have grown in popularity. Back in the days of the NES and Sega Master System, pc games were only played by a pioneering few. Flight sims, FPS, and strategic games were the dominate game types. Now we have a huge array of games we can play on PCs and many that can't be played on consoles. PCs were the first to feature many of the innovations we see on consoles today.
PC gaming is dying for sure. I remember seeing racks of PC games before in shops and now they're only occupying a tiny area. The rest is dominated by console titles.

The console market is starting to pick up on this concept. Bill Gates seems to think disk based systems will be a thing of the past real soon. So, that's where most of the attention is going. If PC gaming was dead or dying, the gaming industry wouldn't even bother porting games over to the PC. At e3 they used a PC for battlefield 3 and farcry 3. They even pointed out that the graphics were the result of it being on a PC. D2D is bigger than you realize.

Also, since you can play a far wider range of games on a PC, and still be playing games out later after console users have to buy the next console or be satisfied with older games, you win there too. Interestingly, Crytek has announced that there won't be any more PC exclusives. It's sad, since I grew up being a computer gamer (C64, then Amiga then PC) but console titles outsell PC titles so badly, its a hard market to exist in.

Another know-it-all, i was never like you. In my opinion, killzone 2 looks better. Crysis lacks in the artistic department, theres no atmosphere or theme present in the levels. Instead, sadly like many PC shooters, crytek went for photo-realism above artistic license. Killzone 2 gets the thumbs up here. Artistic design goes further than pure realism in my book. Killzone does both.

I've got mods on my Crysis game that makes it look even better than unmoded Crysis. I prefer the lush forests in Crysis to the boring grays of Killzone 2.
Controls are never fair on PC, more games? 75% of those are RTS or on consoles (just to let you know I like RTS games), PC games aren't that cheaper, and graphics? you guys have Crysis aaand what? KZ is better than crysis both in gameplay and graphics.

Killzone is very pretty, but Crysis fucking owns it gameplay wise. Killzone feels like wack a mole. Every console game ported to pc looks better by default. Higher resolutions and higher fps, at the very least.

Actually they're getting more expensive. Console games since 360 and PS3 have been $60-70 PC has been $49.99 for the past couple of years. Modern Warefare 2 might becoming $59.99 for the PC. It's definitely getting more costly.
Well, there are free games to download. Just not games like Street Fighter IV, but games like Mabinogi are, and there are plenty of other free quality games to download and play for free too.
pc gaming alone has around 10 mil on just wow and you can add other games in to. Xbox live i think has only 22 mil total and thats counting accounts and a ton of people have two accounts or more so pc is not dead but i wish more people who get away from the cheep xbox which falls apart every 5 months.

PC gaming is and will always be here. It's still the largest market and the largest grossing market in terms of money. More Devs make PC games than any other platform and it's been like this for a long time. PC gaming owns and always will. :)

Hmm. The number of subscriptions to world of warcraft alone beats the number of subscriptions to xbox live. PC gaming will never be knocked off of the top spot in terms of online gaming thats for sure.
1998 was the best pc gaming year so far. Titles like Unreal, Half-Life, Baldur's Gate, Starcraft, Grim Fandango, Metal Gear Solid and Thief all started out that year + some more epic games.
2. 2009 is a week year for PC gaming. It has been for the first quarter and just generally gaming in general. I although, am a die hard PC gamer. PC games are going to look the same until five years from now as we don't have next generation consoles. Developers are being cheap they won't see direct x10 being used until we see Xbox 720 or a ps4. Though PC gaming won't die, but it will start to hit a flat line.

We don't need Gears of War 2 because we have Starcraft 2, Diablo 3 and Dawn of War 2. The console market is starting to pick up on this concept. Bill Gates seems to think disk based systems will be a thing of the past real soon. Streaming content and direct to drive content is going to be the future. And PCs are ahead of the curve.

@sodazman That's just a sign that the console market has grown and not that the pc market is shrinking. Consoles are definitely the bread and butter of the gaming industry right now. So, that's where most of the attention is going. If PC gaming was dead or dying, the gaming industry wouldn't even bother porting games over to the PC. At e3 they used a PC for battlefield 3 and farcry 3. They even pointed out that the graphics were the result of it being on a PC. D2D is bigger than you realize.

Also, since you can play a far wider range of games on a PC, and still be playing games out later after console users have to buy the next console or be satisfied with older games, you win there too. Further, you can play all the older games as well, as well as most games from really old consoles via emulator.

Another know-it-all, i was never like you. In my opinion, killzone 2 looks better. Crysis lacks in the artistic department, theres no atmosphere or theme present in the levels. Instead, sadly like many PC shooters, crytek went for photo-realism above artistic license. Killzone 2 gets the thumbs up here. Artistic design goes further than pure realism in my book. Killzone does both.

Better Community - Frankly, both PC and XBL community's suck ass. XBL is full of kids, feminazi's or rednecks, while every PC gamer I have encountered so far is an egotistical fuckwit, takes games way to fucking seriously, and doesnot understanding that the point of video games is to haveing some fucking FUN.
Better Controls - It appears I am stupid. Mouse and keyboard just don't work for me.

Guys like us play on the PC, the guys who can actually spell 'graphics'. Computers have better graphics, better gameplay, easier aiming, computers are just downright better than consoles. We don't need Gears of War 2 because we have Starcraft 2, Diablo 3 and Dawn of War 2. We don't need to blow the shit out of something for satisfaction, we can get along just fine with our Eldar, Terran and Necromancers.
