"Assault weapons" account for as little as 2% of crime guns. Why do the anti gun goons concentrate 98% of their effort on 2% of the problem? It is about the guns which are the biggest threat to the government and hardest to take away. First it will be "assault weapons" then "Sniper rifles" which will just be scoped hunting rifles. Then "assault shotguns" which will be pump action and semi auto shotguns. Then finally handguns. Then when you have black powder muskets they will come and take them.

Now way! how can the government "ban assault weapons" if myself and millions of others never give them up?

Although I know that there are many on the left in charge that have dreams of grabbing our guns,how on earth could they achieve the daunting task of getting 370 million guns from 80 million of us?

I assume that those who've put down all that money for these guns(and ammo) at gun shows and stores have absolutely no plans to relinquish them.

Guns brought us freedom and they'll keep it too!

You have a very valid point, about many of us, but, you also need to consider that there are many people who buy guns for self protection against common criminals, and aren't aware of the fact that the biggest argument for the 2nd ammendment was to protect us from government (tyranny). If the gov't banned a particular type of gun, they'd ask "Is mine banned? Am I allowed to keep mine? instead of saying Hell No.
