forget all the silly small minded comments. this is no joke. our world needs this technology now, it needed it then. thank you to those who post video of this idea in motion! and thank you to all you "backyarders" who perpetuate the idea and propogate the technology. we do not inherit the earth from our parents, we borrow it from our kids!!!!
All you dumb asses who talks about electricity coming from coal or oil, think again. Use windturbines and solar...and add some to your own house and you have free energy supplied to your vehicle.
ya got that right. I'm gonna be working on setting up some solar panels and a wind turbine or two to power the electric as well as bring down our electric bill a bit.
Coal is a dirty source of energy but it's a tremendously more efficient to generate that energy in a power plant running at optimal capacity than to have millions of tail pipes belching toxins as they sit there idling in traffic. Anyway there is the 'nuclear option', not perfect by any means but a hell of a lot cleaner than coal.
Nuclear is not clean either. You have to mine uranium. Low-grade uranium ore typically contains 0.1 to 0.25% of actual uranium oxides, so extensive measures must be employed to extract the metal from its ore. This mining requires a LOT of fossil fuel.
I agree that nuclear is not clean. My point was that it is cleaner than coal. Mining coal also requires input of fossil fuels. Nuclear is cleaner in the sense that the electric power generation itself is not producing greenhouse emissions.
It's a crime now just like it was a crime in 1947 when GM was found guilty if criminal conspiracy. The problem is that there is too much money to be made in an imperfect world.
No, it comes from the same place that the electricity that runs your home and work comes from. At the moment it's mostly dirty coal, but in the future hopefully we'll decide to invest in more sustainable resources, like Near-Term Solar (PV, Solar Heat, Hydro, Wind), or even nuclear power... In which case these types of cars will get cleaner just like our homes and businesses.
Also, all that coal is a domestic resource. We don't have to buy it from potential terrorist harboring nations. I think 2k2wranglerx just wants to keep the bad guys funded.

Just like to point out.
An electric car running on the dirtiest coal electricity availible, would still be just as green, or greener than a Prius.

And we could replace 84% of our cars with electric ones before we needed even 1 new power plant, by using offhours excess capacity.

why do all the anti-envirohippies prefer a product requiring a power source that:
leaves the us dependent on foreign countries for supply,
economically at the mercy of those who control it's production/price,
diminishing availability requires military actions to guarantee access?
or is it the air quality alerts every major city now has that is the attraction?

where do all the envirohippies think the electricity comes from? magical beans that create electricty to charge their cars? NOPE.
