They were allies but they were in a disagreement over something... I think it has something to do with Hiei thinking Yusuke had become weak (as he couldn't defeat Sniper on his own) and so if Yusuke was weak then he deserved to die... THat's what I think I remember, but it's been a while since I saw that episode, sorry.
