Sweet vid; what's the instrument in the backround called, though? I've always wondered what that woodwind instument was called. Is it like some sort of flute, or trumpet or something?
Ancient egypt used to have two own martial arts and tahtib used to be one of them but back then it was more of a fighting style then it became a folk dance that might explain it. the other martial art was called Sebakkha and it the body was used as self defence without sticks or weapons
Shukran! Thank you so much for this video. I really enjoyed it. I wish I could understand the commentary. So gonna have to learn Arabic. I'm guessing it's talking about the roots of the dance form?
exatamente o ''tahtib'' que eu estava pesquisando: ''de rua'', ''bem rústico''... lindo lindo lindo! :D

@pharaonicvs I'm egyptian, and I love this art, even though I don't quite know it....
And, for anyone who says we're typical arabs, LOOK AT OUR CULTURAL IDENTITY! I miss Egypt...

Omg, the boy in 5:17 has the very same fighting stance that we use in Aikido with a Bo kin (a wooden training Samurai sword).

This is excellent. And the commentary is terrific. Abdel-Rahman Othman and Adeeb Naseem did a splendid job.
