@rorileafwillow If you look into the history of handfastings, they are not actually "pagan." They originated in Europe because couples had to wait for clergy to visit their town in order to get married. Instead, they designed a mutal desire type marriage, where they clasped hands in front of a witness or witnesses and expressed their desire to be married. Handfastings did not become commonly "neo-pagan" until the 60-70s...
This almost made me cry, I'll be handfasting soon as well, hopefully around Beltane. I'll be crying happily then as well I'm sure. I can't wait. :) Blessed be.

They originated in Europe because couples had to wait for clergy to visit their town in order to get married. Instead, they designed a mutal desire type marriage, where they clasped hands in front of a witness or witnesses and expressed their desire to be married. Handfastings did not become commonly "neo-pagan" until the 60-70s...

Wicca isn't a satanic cult, it is an earth-based religion that has been around for thousands of years, even before the Christian church took the image of Pan, a Greek god of the wood, and turned him into the image of the devil we see today. Locally there is a wiccan/pagan couple of which the wife is handfasted to another man. I would like to know if other wiccans agree or disagree with that.
I am not religious, but I find it violates the marriage contract. I am not making judgement, I believe in freedom, but I would like to hear some opinions.

If the couple has willingly and mutually agreed on a polyamorous relationship, i see nothing wrong there. i havent read anything in Pagan Ethics which would make it wrong...im still researching such things though.

You know I have thought about my comment since I posted it and instead of deleting I would rather add that it could only violate a marriage contract according to the state, and who cares what the state thinks. So I see nothing wrong with it.

secondly- to the other types of comments claiming we have no right to this that and the other as it's christian: grow up and note this: Wicca comes from paganism- as does CHRISTIANITY. Dam some of you people are ignorant narrowminded hypocrits!Call us what you will- but how would u feel if somone walked into your church services and branded you all satanists?? or came to your wedding and started ridiculing your faith??

to all the christians calling this satanic firstly, how on earth can two people in love be evil and satanic?? wiccans dont believe in satan either- another christian creation! You are the ones dishing out all the hate all the time its so sad that you preach all this kindness and love thy neighbour etc etc while doing so. you are the cruel ones saying such hurtful things about people you know nothing of constantly.
