hey guys im usually on the other side of the san gabes, like bonita falls, or wrightwood. Can't wait to go to this place. If it's downhill use dredge technique to get rid of all that pesky gravel, would be great to put thru a gold sluice! Use a gravity dredge and get it all cleaned out, bring some goggles =)
This week two peope have DIED at Eaton Cyn Falls attemting to do this. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CLIMB UP TO THE FALLS! Enjoy the falls from the ground and STAY ALIVE.
@NotSoOldHippy hahahah look who I found, why the hell didn't you tell me about this place?????? I've been exploring the big horn mine, and Vincent Gulchs cabin. send me your email, i'll forward you a few things!
To anyone that visits this jump site, I'm going there May 18th to drain the build up in the pool below the falls to make it jumpable. Send me a message if your interested in helping.
Actually yes, when I dove to check the depth I noticed a massive Brown in the right cut bank in the pool below the falls. Im bringing my fly rod next time no questions asked.
@megb2311 Did you ever end up going fishing at this waterfall? And how deep is it?Are there any other falls i should know about? I'd really appreciate it if you'd kindly answer back...Thank yoouuu!!!
@911popos There are about 8 waterfalls and many other deep pools on this water system alone. Also up highway 39 you'll run into the san gabriel river system. also has fish. Try the West fork. I never fished the pool of this waterfall, although when i was diving under the falls to clear out sticks and rocks i was wearing goggles and clearly saw a couple big trout!
@megb2311 Omgoshhh Thank you sooo much for replying,Im happy to say You've made my freakin dayyy!!! Just a one question...Which of the 8waterfalls did you see the troat in?
@911popos I saw the 11-13 inch rainbow in the second waterfall pool, the one that you can jump into. But I also saw a school of trout in a pool about 1/4 mile past the second water fall. Not a very good way to explain exactly where it is. Good luck!
was this filmed this year? I ask because the Razorback was basically my home away from home and I would go down the slide and jump the 50' cliff on my lunch break. But in December, the storms pushed tons of gravel down the canyon and basically buried this swimming hole. It went from about 12' deep to close to only 4 or 5 feet deep the last time I went.
How deep do you think the water was?
I am planning a restoration party this summer to help dig out the rest of the rocks, you should come too!
@morgandonor The way I see it we need to knock down the (man made) dam to allow the gravel to flow out. I moved a few boulders this very same day maybe 3 feet wide and the gravel began rushing out! Then replace the dam to maximize depth. It was only about 7 feet if you hit it right in the middle so you hit the bottom but bounce back up. Kinda sketchy.. Another way to drain the pebbles would be to dredge it... But you would need a 'team' of men to get a dredge back there.
@morgandonor Yah dude im down, let me know when your planning on doing that whole restoration biz. what we really need is a dredge. but it would be a bitch getting it up there. but a dredge would get that shit drained in like a few hours of sucking.
Sorry but the tagger that are fucking up this place should be shot on site.
