In 1961, during the De-Stalinization of the USSR from his death in 1953, they had removed the lyrics, and up until 1977, the anthem had no lyrics at all, until new lyrics were approved by the government and then used to this day as the Russian anthem after the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991

Since the fall of Communism in 1989 and the fall of the USSR in particular, there has been this notion to say communism is not so bad,especially in countries such as the USA where the younger generations have no idea about the true nature of the cold war and how many people died at the hands of Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot in the killing fields of Cambodiaetc.
