@AzulaPrincess007 It is not Greek it is Bulgarian. A Bulgarian can hardly make the most of the lyrics but the actual song in its cleanest version translates to something like this "Come, come bright sun, come, grow dark. Cry, forest, cry, sister, let the two of us cry, you for your leaves, forest, me for my youth. Your leaves, sister, forest, will come back again, my youth, forest, sister, never will" something like that.
@x0lamborghini0x I agree. The movie is god damn awesome, BUT.. I wish they could have made it with a bit more realistic kind of. Made the battle more like it was in real life. This movie is wrong in many ways. I don't know why they took beasts and such in, but I like to think that they made the movie on how the Greek looked at the Persians. Barbaric and filthy etc. And the battle should have been as it rly was. Leonidas was not the last standing and containing ALL the greek who fought :)
Nobody can Truly appreciate this song or feel the feeling of saying goodbye to a loved one when know in their heart that they will not return. I listen to this song alot and not once have I listened to it and not cry. I know this because I have felt what it is like to say goodbye knowing they will not return. Soldiers of war go through this everyday and some do not come back. RIP PFC Damon G. Legrand and all those who have lost lovedones in war. Gone but not forgotten!
noobie assholes who dont know anything about history...:how can you say that spartans are beasts?? they had their own law and that law made them real warriors cause they had no other choise...they had to protect themselves from Eilwtes their slaves...also:read history before talk....if Spartans seem to you like barbarians then search for other countries that period that they had no history at all...they ate each other...in the same period learn about our greek history...democrasy maths art...
@dimos12hoodoo I agree! but some people here use the word ''beast'' as in very strong and deadly..not as in barbarians..which they were certainly not :)
i took me the 9th time watching the movie to realize the singing is the same in Message For The Queen...yea, i'm slow...and this song and the Message is amazing
@meeranaam warriors could come back alive or dead, of course, and the dead were carried on their shields. but sometimes cowards ran away from battle and in order to run fast they dropped their heavy shields. so, coming back alive but without a shield would have meant he was a coward. hence the phrase "with your shield or on it": "if you come alive, I hope it will be because you fought and won, otherwise it's better for you to come back dead than alive as a coward with no shield"
Leonidas went in there expecting to die but what would it do to the moral of his men if he sed men we are ........... and were going to die so do your best fighting. the point i am trying to make is he needed a to keep the enemy occupied wile the spartan army rallied together to form a bigger army than 300

@Chillerguy1234 the fuck? no he wasn't. everyone who was a spartan was nothing more than a monster. they had a LAW that you HAD to beat your slaves, you killed your own child without mercy if it wasn't perfect, and many more.
@lolguy212 your stupid, for one they only killed childern if they were deformed, they dont want a bunch of retards in theyre army dumbass, and they didnt beat slaves, you just made that up,and spartans arent monsters, theyre perfect warriors, and back then monsters were considered people who eat other people, today a monster is someone who hits there child,so get your facts straight nimrod
"I use child insults to prove a point.". Wow. Showing some intelligence there. And yeah, they DID have a law, look it up. And yeah, they were monsters, so deal with it.
@lolguy212 and yeah, your a dumbass,i didnt say they didnt have laws,im just saying that your wrong to call heros monsters dumbfuck, its like saying america was the evil one in world war 2,without them everything would be different,oh but your to stupid to know
@lolguy212 The 300 Spartans, along with a few other Greek nations, held the Persian army off at Thermopoly for three days in order for Athens and the other Greeks to organize a defense against the inevitable Persian onslught. After it was discovered that the Persians had out flanked thier position, the 300 stayed behind to allow enough time for the other defenders to escape. Without their sacrifice, all of Greece, and possibly democracy as we know it, would have been lost. Think about that.
I hate it when uneducated morons denounce something that they know completely nothing about. You can't learn history and dictate heroes from what you see in dramatized movies.
@lolguy212 They didn't have to see into the future. Xerxes was seeking revenge from when his father, Darius had tried to conquer Greece years earlier and failed (perhaps you've heard of the battle of Marathon). They already knew Xerxes planned to burn Athens to the ground, and then finish what his father had started.
@lolguy212 yeah, cause they werent fighting for themselves, they were also helped by the atheniens stupid, and no they cant see into the future and i made no metion of that
@lolguy212 Perhaps they were fighting mainly for the survival of Sparta, but at least they knew that they stood a much greater chance of beating the Persians if they allied themselves with the Athenians and other Greeks, even if it was a short lived alliance. Between the Athenian Navy and the Spartan army, the Persian army was utterly destroyed, and was never able to gather the strength to invade Greece again.
@hawkeye93ify1 perhaps leonidas not only thought he could achieve victory, but even if they died, if they killed enough of the persians with their 300 spartans ( plus the other 7000 ) the persians would be too demoralised to even walk through the hot gates.... let alone invade sparta.
"Remember us." As simple an order as a king can give. "Remember why we died." For he didn't wish tribute or song. No monuments, no poems of war and valour. His wish was simple: "Remember us," he said to me. That was his hope. Should any free soul come across that place, in all the countless centuries yet to be, may all our voices whisper to you from the ageless stones:
Go tell the Spartans, passer-by, that here, by Spartan law, we lie.
I want you to be my love and I want to be yours.... even if that means for us to say goodbye my love for a while... so you can go in to battle.... if you open your heart and let me in... I will wait for you, I will be by your side as a prayer warrior and I will b forever your love...
a woman searches the remains of a great battle, to see her one love stubble out of the caious. she is over joyed to see him alive and the man as well. she runs to him, the man notices some enemy behind her but his cries for her to hide was not heard. shot the woman falls into the mans arms, over joyed to see his face...one last time.
the man pleas with the gods to let her live, saying you cant leave!! the woman replies i will never leave you.....i love you. were her last words.
this is so beautiful, it rip u from inside, speaks the words for heartache, when u know u lost someone special and it's hard to accept u'll never see him/her again... grieving
this may sound a little weird but this reminds me of sixth grade because i studied ancient greece and it was so much fun i wish i could just go back to sixth grade but you cant though i wash you could. The whole year was fun just everything was just was fun

people who talk about the movie being so historically inaccurate are retarded seeing as they weren't trying to make it out to be accurate. It's just a movie for Frank Miller's comic book, hence the bunch of unrealistic parts in it. Read a fuckin book haha sick song, good shit with posting the soundtrack

@66sjones You are right, it was actually about 10,000 men or something that fought against xerxes, but i dont think they are making fun of it... They are showing how brave the Spartans were... And it's still a great movie :D
@filipem13 I completely agree. im just saying that some of the dialouge and scenes were really cheesy and it dosnt take much to make a parody of it. the movie i mean.
This music is so beautiful, and just watching the movie brings tears to my eyes. Knowing that this movie is based on a true story to an extent, and that those men loved their country and the people in it so much that they didn't once think of giving up. I'm Greek, and think there should be more nations like Sparta now a days. We may be more advanced now, but we are weaker and more lazy.
Anyone know if the womans voice in this could be classified as a type of music? I hear such lovely songs ALL THE TIME but have never been able to find a definitive name for the type of singing the woman is doing, the sort of beautiful continuing voice. I know the song is actually an old Bulgarian one, but I am interested in the style of singing, which I have heard many times in movies like this, Troy, and others of the same type. Even a name of someone who sings in such a fashion would be great.

people who talk about the movie being so historically inaccurate are retarded seeing as they weren't trying to make it out to be accurate. It's just a movie for Frank Miller's comic book, hence the bunch of unrealistic parts in it. Read a fuckin book haha sick song, good shit with posting the soundtrack

this movie is badass and based on true events, but it is so historicaly inaccurate its kinda rediculous. and it is way to easy to make fun of.
66sjones 1 year ago
@66sjones You are right, it was actually about 10,000 men or something that fought against xerxes, but i dont think they are making fun of it... They are showing how brave the Spartans were... And it's still a great movie :D
filipem13 1 year ago
@filipem13 I completely agree. im just saying that some of the dialouge and scenes were really cheesy and it dosnt take much to make a parody of it. the movie i mean.
66sjones 1 year ago
@66sjones oh yeah, i get you now, they made a parody of it already :/ but the movie still has it's good as hell Soundtracks :D
