I also agree....Derek Jeter for president!!!...I wonder how many people would vote for him. He seems to have all the characteristics to make a great president.
this is why yankee stadium is the cathedral this is why when you walk into yankee stadium life is perfect. i started crying after mo stepped on the bag for the last out, and once jeter made this speech i was not in good shape. this has been home, i miss it<3
i was at the game yesturday, and what a game it was. it was beautiful and perfect.
and when jeter started speaking, i looked around me and the woman in back of me was tearing and then a few rows away from me, there was a little boy with the jeter jersey and was crying.
and then i started to cry too.
so much history in one stadium. Yankee Stadium, and jeter ended the night beautifully.
I'm a Red Sox fan...BUT Derek Jeter is my favorite player...of all-time. Class act all around and I am happy he was able to make this speech at such an historic event.
I am a Yankee fan "dumbass", but that Stadium is a big part of that team. It was also the last part of that team the public owned. The Yankees love us, their fans, so much, that they will NEVER allow us to have a decent seat again. Also, just curious, how many of theose championships were you alive to see? I'm guessing 4 for you. I've seen 6, and its all I will see. No Stadium, no Yankees, period.
I was sitting down the thirdbase line last night. When he took the microphone and started speaking, a little kid in front of my just started crying. I lost it, their is just so much emotion that embodies this team, thank god for making me a yankee fan!
That was a great speech by the captain of the team who had nothing on paper to read from. To wing it like that speaks volumes about him, and hopefully that mindset continues in the new stadium. RIP Yankee Stadium.
"...there are a few things with the new york yankees that will never change thats pride, tradition and most of all we have the greatest fans in the world." DEREK JETER SEPT. 21, 2008. THE FINAL HOME GAME!

Great speech by one of the greatest shortstops in the game, but the greatest captain in any sports team right now.

The Stadium is closed, and the Yankees are now just another team. Thanks George, hope that extra $ is worth it.
