I know the extra links to the leg band is for outside but isn't there a chance that he can get the extra links caught on something in his cage and get hurt? I would be very concerned as parrots sometines get the standard leg band caught.

Don't worry, his cage is big enough and don't have any narrow gapping to cause danger. I know many people has this concern but it is ok. Thanks for reminder.
