  • anyone notice at 8.22 it looks like it says cuntingham on the window

  • "Gwyneth's making drumsticks" - I don't get it?

  • @stopusingmynamesomg Well she's a strict vegan and would never eat a drum stick haha.

  • not bad for a frog.

  • I would like a lovely bit of muffin (:D

  • Calm down! Muffin?

  • when chris martin is in the factor its actually cringe-worthy! top writting from gervais and merchant

  • Love the Pretty Woman reference!

  • i dont know why so many people hate on coldplay..spies, trouble, yellow.. their older music was beautiful

  • @MrMerlin87 Yeah their first few albums were awesome. This last one was a rip off most of the songs had already been released and it was just pop shite. But Chris Martin is really good in this. So many celebrities do charity work to sell a fucking album or single. They've got those people down to a tee in this.

  • Is it me or does Chris sound shit here?

  • Have a lovely bit of muffin.

  • that guy can't sing

  • Chris Martin's a cunt. Good job he didn't have to act ;)

  • Calm down. Muffin?

  • clever because he plugged without you thinking it was a plug

  • Wouldn't a Coldplay Greatest Hits album just be every track from their last four albums?

  • Chris Martin's acting skills are pretty impressive. And he is kinda hot in here despite being a total tool

  • When the whistle blows is a genuinely funny show, I laugh at the made up gags.

  • It's very good for a frog, Barr, if you don't mind me saying.

  • Just bein polite. hahaha

  • @toddmbloom were you hoping for a lot of likes for this comment? Choad

  • ''I think it's abit weird celebreties just popping up in a sitcom''

    Haha

  • @ZenoKameno I never even noticed that connection! Well done!

  • I wish they really would make the series "When the Whistle Blows," seems like it would be funny.

  • @goombabear Are you havin' a laugh?

  • 'Can we get on with this, I've got aids and alzheimers and landmines this afternoon and I want to get back for Deal or No Deal'!!! hahaha best thing I've ever seen Chris Martin do!

  • easy easy so easy XD

  • If I had an agent like that I would have punched them in the throat lol

  • actually you can see how chris's voice has gone downhill from this.....

  • @toddmbloom I think it may have a tiny bit of British Sitcoms as well :P

  • cold faakin play

  • chris is a very good actor i love it

  • Comment removed

  • chris martin is brilliant in this

  • The funny thing is that Chris Martin was actually promoting his music by playing that song..

  • The last two words of this made me piss myself

  • "Barr, I'm having the muffin"

    "-I'll come for it" lol

  • wats the song chris plays?

  • @siiikKent Fix You, off X and Y :)

  • @Mayna00 thanks bro

  • Chris Martin is f*cking brilliant

  • Someone sue channel 5 please. How pathetic that they feel so threatened by this series that they had to take down part 2-3-3.

  • @laur100 do you know why this was? Because they had a clip of the matthew wright show

  • @paolodicanio9876 God help us - Matthew Wright??? I've never even heard of him!!

    Anyway, thx for the info.

  • @laur100 pricks best thing to do is watch it on a TV show hosting site. watch-series is a good one.

  • have a lovely bit o

    f muffin...love it!

  • We'll be showing pictures of people dying because of a lack of clean water.

Can they be holding the album?

  • HHAAHAAHAH

  • the "Pretty Woman" scene is so funny!!!

  • Poor Andy.

  • @3eau2aniel :) in fairness, that was after Extras, not before, and you could argue it was a braver move by her to do it having royally taken the piss out of holocausts and oscars! But I take you point! hahahaha

  • "chris, what are you doing in a factory in wigan?......its MENTAL"

  • He's havin' the muffin! lol

  • chris martin is a prick

  • "Are we 'avin a larf!?"

  • Chris Martin's a hot geek.

  • "Barry, i'm having the muffin."

    "- I'll come through."

  • @Thomaitken7 Hes playing Himself?? wtf? Erm no he i'snt, Chris Martin in real life is a very funny guy. and of course hes acting in this! and very good as well!

  • @zedsdead03 He's playing a parody of himself. Just like every other guest in the entire series. Did you think Patrick Stewart is obsessed with lesbians, or Ross Kemp with "super army soldiers", or Kate Winslet with holocaust movies to guarantee oscars?!

  • @tfn105 What? Not sure you needed to comment on what i wrote tbh. I know what Chris Martin and every other guest does that come on to the show thanks, i dont need you to tell me.

I replied to someone that said. "Hes not acting hes playing himself"

But quite obviously he is acting and Mocking himself. or as You put "He's Playing a Parody of Himself".

You might need to read through thoroughly before making a comment in future. Instead of jumping on the first sentance. thanks anyway

  • lol at 3:07 its mental

  • I wanna punch that butch looking blonde dike in the face

  • I don't like Coldplay but I respect CM for his GSOH here - "... I wanna get back for Deal or No Deal"

  • @Fubs they're just not to your taste, but that doesn't make them shit or useless. Objectively, they're not shit or useless because they have been very successful and many millions of people like their music a lot around the world. Subjectively, everyone has their own opinion.

This is the kind of thing people learn when they're about 16. You have a lot of learning to do. Moron.

  • @Fubs yeah, they're fuckin useless, that why they've sold millions of albums

  • tryin' to crack japan.. lol

  • I thought chris martin seems a pretty decent bloke in real life. I don't like his music or anything but his role here is funny

  • that chris martin bit is exactly like most american sitcoms when some celebrity like Dwayne Johnston comes on for a bit and preens themselves in a meaningless cameo

  • Hahahaha have a lovely bit of muffin:)

  • 'Well this is gonna sound absolutely RIDICULOUS....but will you sing for us'

  • lmao @ chris martin

  • "I just think it's a bit weird, celebrities popping up in sitcoms." HA

  • can't believe they got chris martin to mention 'gwyneth'

  • Easily one of the best comedies ever made.

  • An awfull woman, my Goodness! What can she afford working in a freaking boutique?

    Poor Maggie

  • He's wearing the greatest hits T-shirt on the show fuckin brilliant

  • I love the way Gervais takes the piss out of the ridiculousness of TV

  • the part where ricky is in the sitcom and saying what the character is supposed to say but and acting in a way that befits the character but also showing what andy millman thinks of it is brilliant acting.

  • Yeah your right Barry should do more comedy but I did wonder whether he was just sacrificing his career by so blatantly making a complete mockery of his previous career.

  • Muffin? lmao god I love Stephen Merchant. I'm surprised he doesn't do much work besides gervais stuff.

  • pretty woman tribute..

  • I love the fact that Chris Martin wants to get back for Deal or No Deal.

  • the seven dwarves line in the awful sitcom made me smile should i hate myself?

  • Calm down. Muffin? hahahaha

  • Its good that the people they bring in make asses of themselves. Healthy.

  • i'm confused by how much irony is in this... taking the piss outta Chris martin promoting coldplay.. and then promoting coldplay.. so is Chris Martin really a dick head?

  • @divadavina327 I can see where the lines can get blurred but it's not that deep, it's just famous people playing extreme versions of themselves

  • @divadavina327 It's called irony.

  • hahaha its larry sanders show esque, they all play a twisted version of themselves

  • Is it just me or have Ricky and Steve framed the shot at 8.24 to say something very rude in the window?

  • haha I've seen this about 5 times and never seen that, it does seem like them to do something like that :)

  • Chris Martin is so fine. I just love his voice & personality. oh yeah, and he's pretty damn handsome, mwaha

  • I just noticed Darren treated himself to a marginally less piece-of-shit computer than in Series One.

  • Shaun! I'm havin' a muffin

    I'll come through! XD

  • Does anyone else quote this incessantly whenever you're around muffins?

  • oh yes!!! soooo true! all the time! haha ;)

  • I loved how Ricky's character would break character while he was establishing David's presence. When he says "mental" and "ridiculous" it's really noticeable.

  • David's presence? you mean Chris' presence right, you're talking about Chris Martin...right?

  • Close enough!

  • lol

  • was he actually promoting a cd at the time ? cause that would have been brill!!

  • Calm down! ...Muffin?

  • chris martin is surprisingly good at at acting i used to think he was a bit one dimensional characterwise, just goes to show

  • I'd probably go for dysentery. But it's a close cut thing.

  • fair point dude ive heard better too but when you have millions in the bank & a beautiful wife then being the best live singer in the world wouldn't really bother me

  • "plus gwineth is making drumsticks "

" what are you doing in a factory in wigun its MENTAL "

    Love it

  • This is by far the funnies episode !!! My all time favourite !!! :))

  • "it's a bit weird celebrities popping up in a sitcom..." tehe.

  • Chris Martin is a pretty good actor

  • I thought he was shocking actually. Fair play that he showed he can laugh at himself, but he wasn't great in this. Gervais' writing was what made him great in Extras.

Did like how he went all Spinal Tap when he's singing though lol

  • The lovely bit of muffin bit is hilarious!! Steve Merchant is the best!

  • Easy, Easy, so Easy

  • not bad for a frog though

  • steve merchant sounds like gareth

  • gareth sounds like smerch

  • they come from the same area I think

  • OH YOU

  • the bloopers on this scene are funny. Chris is hilarious.

  • Bit extreme, but he is absolutely sickly. And Coldplay suck arse too.

  • lol at the pretty woman refrence

  • chris martin is actually quite good actor

  • @johnnygannerss

    I've always assumed he wasn't acting. :)

  • @johnnygannerss he's not though is he because he is playing himself

  • @ThomAitken7 except he's acting.

  • @johnnygannerss yeah, hell of a lot better at acting than he is at singing

  • HELLO YOU' lovelt bit of muffin..

  • I swear, Merchant outdose Gervais in this.

  • yh he really does, but thats because hes meant to, gervais plays the straight man in extra's, the comedy revolves around him

  • barr im having the muffin! - ill come through lol

  • "I dunno.. I just think it's a bit weird celebrities just popping up in a sit-com"

  • i love how perfectly they do the bad 90's style comedy

  • 90s Style? You should see The Green Green Grass or After You've Gone.

  • Yeah, you're right, they are bloody awful. But watching this has given me a little bit of empathy for the people who make them.

  • Andy's face as he is accommodating Chris Martins seamless and totally feasible appearance (and yes, I am being ironic)

  • "what if I fall or dribble something down me front?"

    "what, are you a toddler?!"

  • yea really just amazing writing and brilliant acting very funny.

  • omg can't believe they got Chris Martin to say that stuff lmao

  • i know a lot of people hate him but whenever i have heard him he takes the piss out of himself and his music

  • good day

  • "i just think it's a bit weird celebrities popping up in sitcoms" - Classic

thats one reason gervais/merchant are such good writers, although this isn't really a sitcom per say

  • When they mean sitcom they mean "When the Whistle Blows." Not Extras.

  • i think he's referring to both. True that in the show "Extras" he's referring to "When the whistle Blows" but from knowing Gervais/Merchants' comedy i reckon it was a sneaky little joke about the show "Extras" as well. Celebrities just popping up, class writing.

  • can anyone tell me, (cos iam not an avid watcher of this show) but does maggie and andy secretly have a thing for one another?

  • nah they're just good friends

  • In the last episode of the show (the Christmas special) they fly off together somewhere. They're not romantically involved, they're just tied together, and in the Robert DeNiro episode she hinted about moving in together.

  • Is this the guy you sang Living the Vita Loca? (Is he 'aving a laugh? Are you 'aving a laugh?)

  • omg i cant stop laughing at 4:59

    "calm down....

    ..muffin?"

  • People who work in shops make me laugh... They come out with that bollox and they earn 6 pound an hour lol.... Wasters....

  • just being polite :)))))

  • I love the "It's mental"-bit

  • The woman in the dress shop, is she the same one who plays ricky's make up artist when he forgets her name?

  • No.

  • Is it just me or is "When the Whistle Blows" actually quite funny - it has the potential to be on T.V as its own show!

  • probably in America yep.. but like Darren say 'it's a thick show for thick people' :P

  • Have a lovely bit of muffin.

  • easy, easy, so easy!

  • ricky gervais is awesome, he's so subtle in acting. check out when chris martin comes in and the resentfulness in andy's eyes. marvelous actor.

  • "calm down, muffin?"

  • Is it just me or does Gervais sound a bit like Russell Brand in the beginning?

  • HAHAHAA PRETTY WOMAN MUSIC!!

  • this show is so cool

they should air it on tv in california
