  • THEY LEFT THE DOOR OPEN CAUSE THE BEST ILLUSIONS ARE only HALF REAL

  • hey guys, i doubt anyone cares but i have nothing to lose by trying. yes, i know its generic as everyone on youtube is asking to check out their rap channel, but if you have a few minutes to spare wether you wanna legitimately check out my music or visit my page to laugh at how bad you assume i am, it would be much appreciated if you checked my shit out. thanks

  • Shivers run threw my body from this song, I love it

  • i could listen to him and eyedea forever

  • This is one beautiful example of the spoken word in song. I'm not usually a fan of rap (especially not mainstream stuff) but I appreciate art. And this is a deep song. So good to relax to, if not a little melancholy.

  • Awesome..nuff said.

  • Why are people caring about the number of views a video has? I think everybody here is aware that " views" do not translate into better music. Will this song be any better than it is now than when it is at 1,000,000 views?

I don't want to plug for another rapper, but take this as an example: if you've ever seen the freestyle of Sage and Adeem (pronounced A-DEE-EM), you should check out a group he was in with Maker and DJDQ called Glue. Some seriously underappreciated art right there.

  • Any song with Saul Williams in it is bound to be fantastic.

Sage Francis is very nice too:)

  • I heard this song from 0:30 to 1:00 in Bones(the series) and I really like the whole song! I cant deny that it is good even though I am a fan of the metal. Pity most "metalheads" are considered as stupid and narrow-minded...

  • @TheNeoton This comment pretty much describes me. Looked up the song because I heard it on Bones and I am also a fan of the metal. Who cares what "metalheads" are considered, we know the truth haha

  • @TheNeoton I'm a huge metal head myself, yet here I am, trolling the heartbeat of the Sage. 'Most' metalheads are not narrow minded. Unfortunately it's the narrow minded ones that comment on videos here.

  • Damn so deep,it inspires me.

  • I turned 18 today and it sucks

  • this song has sick bass!

  • Sage is the king.

  • I was searching most viewed videos of Sage and found the second most watched video (Which is this one), not even 700 thousand views. It makes me wanna cry.

  • wow.. found another amazing talent from the underground. I fucking love youtube.

  • i love his distance he potrays to have from the poeple?

  • This is the first Sage Francis song I ever heard. Not only do the words resinate with me personally.. but it brings back memories of the person who showed me this master of the universe. ONE LOVE!

  • Dooood, I knew that was Will Oldham!!!! He has the best/strangest voice :D

  • @JoBloh I have to agree with you on that. I've felt the same way.

  • BOHHHHHHH!!!!!

  • @lilweezy1984

was about to rage until I saw your username. You poor soul.

  • @lilweezy1984 If Sage is a fag then man.....I don't wanna be straight!

  • List started listening to Sage and haven't heard one bad track,Sick!

  • @JoBloh Fuck main stream is what you want to say! :D

Nah really, i have nothing against main stream but I hate when people like artist for the wrong reasons, which you just can't with these two demigods.

  • Thumb's up if you are 666,666. viewer... :D

  • 666,666 viewer

    are

    gonna

    rule....

    theworld!!!

  • 'And I promise to learn to love the way I've learned to fear

To unknot all the inhibitions tangled in my hair

To let my ego mound in piles around the barber chair

And make a graceful exit from my vexed troubled years

I've decided I've been invited to my own resort

Where knights can leave their armor neatly piled by the door

And every woman, child, and man will gather by the shore

and study how sea lions swim in cursive'

    absolutely amazing.

  • @zombiesatesarahh swimming curses*

  • @hockeyplyr4life nope. it's swim in cursive., "And study how sea lions swimming curses" doesn't make any sense what so ever.

  • Comment removed

  • @zombiesatesarahh Although, I understand, (or at least think I understand,) the rest of the lines; what do the last two mean? "And every women, child, and man will gather by the shore; and study how sea lions swim in cursive"

  • @Jackson72O its bout the people being controlled just to watch a show which they do not understand.

  • This video should have more then just a few hundred views! =O ....'cause 658,500 of these views are from me. >.>

  • he is awesome when your high

  • @krmulliger If I could like your comment twice I would. :)

  • This song make me wanna live and give up at the same time.

  • @JoBloh I know exactly what you mean. I feel that way with all of the music I listen to.

  • This song is amazing

  • Every time I look at the views on his videos, I think of all of the views Lil Wayne has, and it makes me want to break the internet.

  • @sofakingey let the sheep watch there bull shit take pride in the fact that u hav good taste

  • @sofakingey the masses are asses

  • @sofakingey same here, i agree with you i used to listen to little wayne for his beats though sad to admit that :(

  • @naynaybayable Naw man, I listen to some music just for the beats. Lil Wayne has some killer fucking beats, but usually I'm craving some lyrical depth. That's when I search "sage francis."

  • @sofakingey 674 901 is alot of views, and its views from real people. Not cheesy weezy ppl.. all plz stop mentioning that lil' fuck.

  • @sofakingey Don't worry, SOPA is on it... Sadly.

  • @sofakingey You should care less, it's better for your health.

  • @sofakingey it's not the internet that's broker - the internet is just a reflection of society. Society is broken.

  • @sofakingey Sopa/Pipa is almost there.

  • @TheShugumi You stole my comment, asshole. :C

  • @sofakingey why? because different people like different things :shock

  • wish they did more stuff together

  • whats the meaning of this, and the connections to sea lions

  • as seen on Bones. this song is bad ass.

  • Saul Williams is the man in the second verse, kick ass spoken-word artist

  • @KidwithS4 No shit, it says his name.

  • Song is great! Greetings from Split,Croatia! :D

  • amazing song

    boss

  • Oh man sages on YouTube? ??... weirrrrddd

  • Saul and Sage two of the most outer worldly lyicists alive suprized Andre 3000 hasn't done anything wih eitheer of them.

  • I can't stand this fat pretentious turd's music. Your brains are probably fried from inhaling to much meth and paint thinner if you actually enjoy listening to this audio diarrhea. I would probably beat the shit out of this faggot if I ran into him. Fuck him. That's my rant. You all can continue on with your dreadful lives.

  • @PunkingSnitches okay hipster, enjoy your lil wayne

  • @MrDbro

Um so let me get this straight. You somehow assumed I'm a hipster plus a Lil Wayne fan from my comment. Really? Quit drinking from the toilet and stop taking it up the ass, it's not healthy. See, I assume you do that after reading your reply.

  • @PunkingSnitches hey fucker i love meth

  • @PunkingSnitches So I take it you love all the mainstream rappers who have no talent and only talk about money, cars and chicks on their dick all the time. Now THAT"S dreadful to me!

  • @cpaterson0988

You got it all wrong retard. I like Good music from all genres. Not this fat emo shitbag you worship. Lil Wayne, Drake, Mac Miller, Kanye and everything that's mostly mainstream should board a plane, fly off and then take a nosedive straight to horrible douchebag hell for all I care. Stop defending this moron. Have a nice day.

  • @PunkingSnitches First off I'm not a retard, second I don't worship Sage I just really like his music. I will have a nice day listening to great music like this instead of the BS you listen to.

  • @PunkingSnitches First off I'm not a retard, second I don't worship him i just really like his music. I will have a nice day listening to great music like this, not the BS that you listen to. :)

  • @PunkingSnitches Mac Miller's said he looks up to indie rappers like Sage Francis and Eyedea, etc. And Kanye got his style from the 90s Indie movement. As for Lil Wayne, aside from his atrocious voice, he only has some decent puns and a few catchy songs. Guess who's known as the genre which mastered puns? I'll give you a hint, it's Indie Rap.

  • @PunkingSnitches Now look, I don't really like Sage Francis, personally, but you've got to respect someone who has more talent than YOU could ever have. In the words of Eyedea, "He's probably your favorite MC's favorite MC."

And stop with the violent shit-talking. It just makes you sound like you've got a mouth full of diarrhea.

    Now...

    Have a NICE day :D

  • @PunkingSnitches ahhh thats cute this fag doesnt respect art, hes too busy blowing his dad.

  • ROH brought me here

  • This is a fucking brilliant song.

  • shit this is good

  • 31 people are fucking faggets cause this shit is good

  • both of you hipsters just shut the fuck up and enjoy what you both have in common. jesus fucking christ !!

  • @yomtvcrap You misunderstand. This is how hipsters get a long.

  • @whillam why would u admit to being a hipster...im not but from what i no hipsters never admit to it lemme guess u drink PBR

  • @mcrsrevengeparade hipsters aren't real, silly.

  • @mcrsrevengeparade I'm a hipster and I drink pbr. Theres no point in denying, because denying you're a hipster just makes you more of one.

  • <3

  • I stened to this same music ages ago when freestyle fellowship and aceyalone, lmno and the visionaries, Last Man, Ziare Black, Rahbu, Medusa and DJ DZrez were all coming out, people need to go to hip-hop school......when the Dialated Peoples headlined Black Eyed Pea's......and Medusa opened.....

  • Im a hipster and Sage is the first thing that popped up for best rappers for hipster rappers

  • @Whillam you must have searched on yahoo, everyone knows that Atmosphere is the #1 hipster hip hop artist lol :P

  • I love this song but where can I find the one with Saul on it, he adds so much to an already great song

  • man, having listened to the original for years now, i can't help but keep skipping back to where saul's poetry comes in. what a fucking awesome remix.

  • thats what youtube should be used for - discover really good and deep music!

  • Comment removed

  • i just need more kickass beats bro

  • god i love this. ahh trippy..lol

  • hey mrGworrall it the shit...eat shit!

  • 30 people were raped by sealions..

  • 30 people r dumb

  • Amazing!

  • this remix sucked.. i stopped it as soon as i heard alias start rapping..

  • this guy has intelligence beyond all our mainstream rappers - put together - and somehow, the stations and networks overlook him. why? I'm just glad I avoid all those crap generic stations that play the same as every1 else, and have neither the balls or brains to see beyond what is put in front of them.

  • @MrGWorrall you ask why? I'll tell you why and hope your ready for the truth.Cause he's WHITE and the record execs already have their great white hope in good ol' Marshall.Mr Mathers is already pre-made generic moldable white trash bullshit, nothing to say but hatred and tales of his chronic drug use.So he came out with a movie describing his adversities with his childhood and life, it's the EXACT same shhtt I and 100,000 other white kids who grew up in projects had to deal with, wheres my movie?

  • @dennisrennis1 You good sir have opened my eyes. You're right how many other kids grew up in the projects? Thousands and not one other kid got a movie like Marshall Mathers did.

  • @baker099 Presumably you have to be famous before you can get a movie made about you. Pretty sure the majority of kids from the projects, of any skin color, aren't going to have films made about them. Maybe if they write a successful book like that Precious girl, but certainly not by just merely existing.

  • @MrGWorrall quite simple dude... let me explain: i am looking at the lyrics right now and can tell you i really don't get much. His music is based on so called intelligent rhymes - i say so called cause i don't understand shit YET - will try more. He doesn't have "phat beast" so radio wouldn't earn enough audience from the mainstream. Even if you would try and launch this by radio people are too distracted to understand what he says = this is not something you understand while driving.

  • Sage you totally need to come hang out in MN we need to see you!

  • Best artist

  • Mr/Miss uploader: where did you get this extended version with the second verse?

  • @peacespotting It was only on the 12" vinyl from what i have found.

  • @peacespotting It is on the Sea Lion EP As well as just the instrumental, and Stuck, with instrumental.

  • @peacespotting search sea lion (feat alias, saul williams)

  • @peacespotting Full version is on the 12" if I remember rightly.

  • @peacespotting

Sea lion was released as a single I think, it came with the original and this plus one other track. Not sure where you can find it.

  • I love this song I just made a new song of my own hope you like it. if so add me or subscribe. I generate my own form of hip hop i sing it in it's own unique way and it comes out on a level of it's own. 1 love

  • always been a fan of sage. i just recently found this one that was redid with other artists.

  • Saul Williams

  • there is something eerily prophetic to this song, especially saul's verse.

  • the meaning of life is somewhere between the lines of that last verse..

  • @DECRIMINALIZE word!

  • @DECRIMINALIZE bahaha... not hard to define the meaning of life...regardless of the fact we are a genetic experiment of puppets controlled mentally by extraterrestrials..created by a God, or evolved from apes....the meaning of life is to create a meaning to your life as you live; following the guidelines of the Universal Law of Balance, positive neutrality to lead to progression of your individual as a species on this planet, succeeding, evolving humanity properly.and between those lines as well

  • @lilmanweeman agreed haha

  • I wish this came as a bonus track on the album :(

  • So f*cking EPIC

  • not sure if this will get a reply, but.....

I've never quite understood this line by Saul when he says "and study how sea lions swim in cursive"

anyone care to share their thoughts?

  • @stuslegend Good question! I'm too lazy to Google it too :3

  • @stuslegend At least in my eyes... Sea lions move swift and smooth through water. I think Saul is relating sea lions to themselves. Moving swift and smooth with what they write.??

  • @stuslegend @Tzara86 I actually googled it, nothing came up, I don't even know what to swim in cursive is XD

@jawsbd1 Hmmmz... Good thought, might be true!

  • @YoungDirtyCwalk i actually found a website where people dicuss lyrics and found one for this song, i don't think we'll ever get a 100% correct answer since people can always have their own opinions on the content, the website i found was called 'songmeanings' and just search for sage francis, then look up this song

  • aahhhh

  • There needs to be "Haters gonna hate" button

  • dopeness i have the album, feel fuckn retro never heard this version before,, love itt.

  • My fav Sage song at this moment. This guy is a legend .

  • This guy is amazing <3

  • Thumbs up if Sage Francis is better than Chris Webby, Mac Miller, Cage, and Eminem.

  • If you like Aesop, Sage, Slug, etc... I highly recommend lending your ear to the Australian Hiphop scene... Bliss n Eso, Mantra, Pez, 360... Once you warmup to the accent, the skill is undeniable.

  • thank you for posting this version of this song. I looked everywhere, and I can only find the slower version now. :) Gotta Love Sage. A real poet.

  • Where can I find this version on mp3

  • bad ass

  • fuck all the other rappers rapping abuot bitchs nd money nd drugs this is the reals shit you dont notice that ura mindless zombie suked into the wrong side

  • i dont get why theres a dislike on any viddeos like they should just put the must like songs on the top so we no whitch songs are the bestter ones like if u dont liike it then dont LIKE it like really

  • @airstrx I dislike Papoose videos on the regular; guy sucks.

  • @backyardPyro ahah who is that!

  • Cant fathom anyone who would dislike the poet of our generation.

  • 27 people live in the country where they cant watch sea lions

  • @verbbadadjectivenoun correction; i live in minnesota and i hear atmosphere, brother ali, eyedea & abilities, sims, dessa on 89.3 the current.

as long as i have spare money, i will support rhymesayers and strange famous to the day i die.

  • @g31184 thats a given, but think of other places besides minnesota, unless its sirius, pandora, or xm, you wont hear their music being played often, i live in northern maine and we dont get much hiphop other than whats on the top 5, it blows. im just thankful for itunes & youtube

  • Amazing !!! Music is still alive! !!

  • My mind was just blown.

  • this is boring..

  • @truesoldier11231

is its because the song actually has a meaning...

  • @REMS287 Lowkey makes songs that have meaning and they are dope as fuck

  • @truesoldier11231 You're bored because your mind cant get on his level.

  • Best song ever?

  • What album is this?

  • @britneycoolson

    a healthy distrust.

  • aesop rock is in the suggestion box...thats wussup! haha

  • 27 persons have trouble with their brains..

  • "Oh God I think I'm dead/ I can't see outside my head /Brains and bloods and cryptic gang men Czars and warlords breaking bread"

Sage Francis is way too nice. I like how the nigga's flow is continuous, its like spoken word and the beats are always so different from anything out right now.

Sage Francis because is intelligent, he doesn't cloud it by rhyming over a shitty beat with baby words.

Search Eddie Pesos "Maria's Scarf" Puerto Rock kid from Philly droppin' ill joints on the mic.

  • @PurpleHaze1824 Way to quote Saul Williams verse when you're praising Sage Francis.........

  • @PurpleHaze1824 ummm...that was Saul's verse not Sage's

  • @PurpleHaze1824 u r so funny fool thats all i got to say lol just stop dont try to act smart when ya snot

  • One SAUL nuff said

  • Listen to the radio if you're just looking for some sound

But if you're looking for a message need to take it to the underground

    Atmosphere, Aesop, Eyedea, and Sage

But no station in your hometown will ever get there songs played

Soulja Boy made millions by repeating four lines

But scraps for the ones speaking intelligent rhymes

So respect I send to all of you speaking for a truth

Not quite up to your standards but here I give my tribute

  • @verbbadadjectivenoun oh tucson radio plays atmosphere all the time

  • @verbbadadjectivenoun, Don't forget Sage Francis on Sole & The Skyrider Band- Hello Cruel World album. MCSole is the sh*t.

  • @verbbadadjectivenoun I live in Albuquerque New Mexico and i hear Atmosphere and Murs on the radio quite often.

  • @verbbadadjectivenoun Milwaukee gets a lot of Rhymesayers on the radio, not too much Strange Famous though...

  • @verbbadadjectivenoun lol you named all the rhymsayers rappers. theres many more though

  • @fakkeRICH After this post, I'll stop spamming this video lol

Aesop and Sage aren't Rhymesayers... Aesop is Def Jux, Sage is Strange Famous. Although both have had things with RSE (Healthy Distrust was Epitaph in cooperation with RSE I think, Aesop Rock's Hail Mary Mallon group dropped 'Are you gonna eat that' on RSE), they're not, really...

    And Eyedea RIP

  • @YoungDirtyCwalk uh... yea he is and im not talking about sage is in ryhmsayers. But its funny that all you know are rhymsayer people.

  • @fakkeRICH As for myself, I listen to more MCs than someone can imagine I think, but it's true, dude you replied to only mentions RhymeSayers.

Nothing wrong with that though, they're the best label out there since BabyGrande fucked up.

  • @verbbadadjectivenoun f yeah man.......spoken like a true poet. coundnt have said it better myself

  • @verbbadadjectivenoun 89.3 the current in my hometown plays all these artists...REP MN!!

  • @verbbadadjectivenoun best most thumbed up comment I've ever laid eyes on.. nicely done chap ;D

  • @verbbadadjectivenoun Damn man. Nicely done.
