Thanks for this. I don't think you should apologize for the pics. They are very relevant. As poor as we were and as hard as times were we were a more humane society in terms of taking care of each other. Oil, money, and progress have their down sides.
BREAKING NEWS-- BANK RUN -TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO WEST INDIES, REPUBLIC BANK, ROYAL BANK, FIRST CITIZEN BANK and SCOTIABANK thousand of customers simultaneously secretly withdrawing all their funds, because they believe that the banks might go into bankruptcy, and for fear of the bank becoming insolvent and that they the customer, will lose all their money.people are putting their money in smaller credit union banks or keeping it at home.
Thank you for sharing such an amazing nostalgia of T&T, to know where you are going you need to know where you are from, this reminds me to appreciate and respect who i am and where i am, and what my forefathers have all done to get me to where i am. i have no doubt, that eventually after then end of it all, will not regret what they've done and what we are doing to make the world a better place. Sweet T&T. Love Anjali - Toronto, Canada.

OMG!! Awesome video I lilve in the US and I am returning home for the first time in 13 yrs you almost bought tears to my eyes. Love it!! Love it!!! I think of my dad that passed away a year ago. Thanks for doing an wonderful job on our beautiful country.
man maybe dis would be better for trinidad and tobago...cuz from what i see is total madness going on dong dey...maybe they need some hardship....happy bud does shit in dey nest
This song reminds me of a simpler time which I miss so much. It reminds me of my dad who I also miss insanely. My heart is broken thinking the kind of Trinidad that my kids know and hate.
I get what you're syaing and if it comes across like I'm making a mockery of the hardships then it's seriously misunderstood. The essence of what I was hoping to show was a simpler life, free from the tangles of predjudice and position.
There are alot more creative people than I so whoemever would like to better on this please feel free. I'll happily send you the song.
@zac3ne2nr bro,,what you are doing is fantastic..whoever wants to glean some negative ..ignore them. hardships?? are we better off now??really ..more money.more .murders rapes etc..i am 49 and i would prefer to be broke and could sleep with my door open..no money, and dont have to panic if i cant reach my children, spouse, etc.are we living healthier? longer?better?
.brother..thank you for bringing back the old time days..some ppl will sit back wait for someone to do something and then find fault
@zac3ne2nr LMFAO, someone said ur making a mockery? LOL i cant even see an inch of that anywhere, Geez dese ppl need to go back in time. Thanks for the vid bro
I remember the video as well. Nappy Mayers sitting with his black acoustic guitar and his curly hair. In between there were shots of settings from the old days, prob from my parents' or grandparents' time. One in particular was poor kids being resourceful in making a game out of holding a stick against an old bicycle rim and rolling it forward. Good clean fun...no guns, no hate. I always wished I could go back in time, to the 50's. This present era is too corrupt. Bring back dem ol time days.
I remember this song. It was my fav local song while growing up. The melody, lyrics and arrangement of this song was extraordinary. It brings back a lot of memories and feelings of nostalgia. I remember when Nappy Mayers died, at age 40 I believe. That was a bit of a reality shock. In those days, Trinidad was still a nice place to live. That was the last era of good morals, values and upbringing in this country. Now, I'm not sure I can appreciate all the "changes" that have plagued this nation.
@zac3ne2nr Don't be discouraged plz. PLease upload the old songs. The videos may not be available but the words bring back memories, and take me to a place I once was, and will never be again.
everytime i hear this song it always make me warm inside and when i ised to here my mom and family talking bout the ole time days made me feel like being part of it and all the different stories that they would tell you as a child growing up....now its like trinidadians have know identity everything is america....everything else is coming back we could never see those days again......much love to all my trini people across the world much love ..
@zac3ne2nr So true brother... This is why our society is so devalued now... We need to examine ourselves and figure out what's important to us... This song is a great reminder of such!
WOW!!!!! WHERE DID YOU DIG THIS UP FROM? I'm 30 yrs now and remember always watching and listening to this whenever it played when i was somewhere around 8 or 9! bring back simplicity, no crime, mutual respect, neighborly love, peace! great job. R.I.P. MR. MAYERS . To my friend curvisheart i'm afraid when you return to the waving gallery, you still won't remember, lol.
Lovely song .Photos are of great historic significance. BUT THEY ARE IRRELEVANT TO THE SONGr. They depict the real harships and conseqneces and infrastructure of the post slavery era and British Commercial Imperialism. Remember it was the blood of millions who worked the colonies that financed the deveopment of the west.LOVE HISTORY LOVE THE SONG BUT MAKE A NEW VIDEO MY DUDE . Bless

nah boy. that song really brings it back. sometimes things r better left as they r. trini surely is developing but the things that really matter are going away so quickly. god bless trini
loving this song....it hurts listening to it though, knowing that things are so far from that now...saddens my heart...but I still love my country, Trinidad and Tobago, and will certainly continue in prayer for the nation, doing what I can through the help of God!
never mind to good old days were hard, it wasnt impossible, people were still humble and happy with what they got. nowadays we young people lost sight at what really matters in life. if any body could find that son "let the flowers bloom again" it would really be a blessing to humanity...

Your video and Nappy's song really touched my heart. This is the Trinidad I remember. I wouldn't have grown up anywhere else in the world. Thanks for the great video!!!

Thanks eveyrone for the comments, we all have equal share in this. If anyone needs the song, email me.
@curvisheart im only a couple yrs older than you...but i remember the waving gallery like it was yesterday. It faced the northern range(and runway)... a big, wide open gallery where you could see planes parked, taxiing, taking off and landing..and of course look out for when your friends/family walk outside to board the aircraft and wave to them. My fav part of the old airport, which I miss sometimes. I remember when I was much younger though, they didnt have the burglar proof barrication.
@curvisheart I mean...the barrication that was placed all the way from top to bottom at the front of the gallery. They only put that there later on, as a safety measure. From that point, it was disappointing standing "behind bars" trying to peep through.
Great pics, great song! The waving gallery.....B.O.A.C. ...The B.W.I.A. logo on a "Lockheed L1011 Tristar 500", "QRC Corner" Old Frederick Street...The Cathedral........where oh where has Trinidad gone?
Stupid people to have posted negative comments. They should have listened to the song. We all want to go back to the old time days when your neighbours used to watch your back and share what little they had and crime was not out of control. Great work I thoroughly enjoyed it!!
Aye this is really a nice song.....I remember watching this on my grand mother tv when i was a kid and i loved this song so much...here i am 14 yrs later looking for this song online and found this...who ever uploaded this thank u very much for making my day and putting a smile on my face.....RIP Nappy & Granny
Hey, would you be able to email this song to me? Nappy was an old friend of my father's and he really likes this song and misses hearing it and I don't know where else to get it.
zac3ne2nr somebody should say dis was Trinidad before the manning government cause dat kind of ketch ass doh compare to how bad life is now cause yuh cant live it if Trinidadians dying at an alarming rate because of a foolish dictator that is deep in the lodge. MR Manning what an educated jack ass
t think the pictures I used were misleading to some. i got alot of -ve comments from people thinking it was us wanting to go back to a harder time with less and more poverty. That was not the intent, I jsut really was looking for an avenue to share the song...the pics were jsut what I had.
glad i stumbled on this, knew nappy many years ago in NY, sorry he passed so soon

@curvisheart I mean...the barrication that was placed all the way from top to bottom at the front of the gallery. They only put that there later on, as a safety measure. From that point, it was disappointing standing "behind bars" trying to peep through.

Stupid people to have posted negative comments. They should have listened to the song. We all want to go back to the old time days when your neighbours used to watch your back and share what little they had and crime was not out of control. Great work I thoroughly enjoyed it!!

Where did you get the pics from? It reminds me of a book of photos that my Aunt had and mysteriously dissappeared. Sadly it's out of print to.

Great song and picts. Took me back to a simpler time I never knew. Sweet Trinidad! I can't understand why you'd get negative comments on this.

zac3ne2nr somebody should say dis was Trinidad before the manning government cause dat kind of ketch ass doh compare to how bad life is now cause yuh cant live it if Trinidadians dying at an alarming rate because of a foolish dictator that is deep in the lodge.
