  • I just got a 47LW5600 TV (love it!) and I stream from Plex to the TV over WiFi from my MacBook Pro (Early 2011) without any buffering or delay issues, even 3D content. I am running the current firmware on the TV as well as the latest version of the Plex server, but clearly something is not as happy in your setup as it is here because it is a joy on my TV.

  • I have my 5500 and I cant watch live stream from cnn or anything from the plex channels error "says cannot play media" any help please? I dont have cable and i want to check out the news :(

  • What speed is your wifi router, maybe that is the issue?

  • @AppScreencast how do i check the speed of my router and how can i change it?

  • Have to say, I've got the 5500 and I don't have any buffering issues at all over my wireless n network with 720p or 1080p. It works flawlessly from Plex on both Windows 7 and Lion. I say you need to check your setup.

  • wire or nothing bro, I tried streaming 1080p over wifi with my laptop, but a cable is so much easier and faster :p It's probably a slow wifi chip in the tv or something

  • I think Apple TV doesnt need to transcode the video, thats why its really fast. It just play it. In the case of the LG TV the transcoding time may be ur problem.

  • I have a 55" LG TV and I use the plex on it all the time and it works perfect through a wired setup. The connection to my TV is only 100mb not gigabit. It is buffering so frequently and taking so long to do it because of the latency on your wifi network. Run the cable and be done with it.

  • shit i have the same stupid thing with my TV :|~

  • does your computer need to be on to stream the files from an external hardrive

  • ..................You really see the world of difference with your system when it is wired. Wifi streaming in my view is not there yet. A $15 giga-ethernet switch and a CATe5 cable will probably solve your problem. And yes don't forget to connect your computer/sever through ethernet and not wi-fi. Hope this helps.

  • I have had similar issues with my sony 3D TV with wi-fi USB dongle. It was taking for ever to buffer even a 480P movie. I was probably as frustrated as you. I put the wi-fi dongle aside and bought a giga ethernet switch and connected my TV, PS3, Roku box, Blueray internet and stream 1080P 3D content from my computer/server and you know what. there is not a single min of buffering...............

  • i was going to buy one smart tv upgrader.. but you know? u have to thumbs down.. but let me tell u something !! u really really save my money !!! I really enjoy the video.. mmm to much buffering!! ^^ but i really have to say thanks !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Have you tried a wire?

As it's most likely a wifi thing. Can you tell what you use exactly in the comment such as the macmini type, router, dongle etc.

Perhaps also some details about the movies what the average datarate is.

I'm asking you this because I have seen this issue before at a mate and it got solved.

  • Have a 42LV5500 communicating with Plex which is running on an MBP (model late 2010) and have no buffering issues whatsoever ... better check your setup, mate.
