On that same note, if Buddy had not got on that plane, Bopper&Richie may have just fadded away and forgot about!!!! Too bad any ofem got on it,,,, would've been great to see what they would be like today!!!
I got a computer about 4 yrs ago, untill I found this on youtube, I only heard Jerry Lee Lewis's version of Chantily lace(which was a great version of course) But no one does it like ths Big Bopper... If he's not in the R&Rhall of fame, he should be.
the Big Bopper was soooo coooool! If I could have lived for just a day in their time to hear all the great and talented music of times ago when there was real talent.
A shame all most people remember is 'Chantilly Lace' not to disrespect that song.. though listening to his 'best of collection' you can see how he was obviously asked to do "another one like that chantilly one".. 'Big Bopper's Wedding' for example. thanks for posting this.
wOOW WHAT A TUNE,, THIS BIG BOPPER, IS A BIG TALENT, AND FUNNY TOO, HOW COME HE DID NOT GET MORE CREDIT?, HE DESERVES TO BE IN THE ROCK N' ROLL HALL OF FAME, HOW COME HE'S NOT????????????????.
@teendude16 ...because the rock and roll hall of fame isn't very good, to say the least. I totally agree Bopper deserves loads more credit for his music :)
@teendude16 It might be because he only had an 11 month recording career, but I don't know. What definitely played a part in it must have been his untimely death in the plane accident in February 1959. In fact, a lot of 50's artists aren't in the Hall of Fame, which is an outrage
@teendude16 Because I don't think he was(big time) singin for very long before the plane crash. He was a D.J. before he started his singin career(I think others might know more details than I)...had he not got on that plane, I'm sure he would've got to be a bigger star before to long!!!
I love this guy. He and Chuck Berry were my Dad's favorite artists (my Dad grew up in the 50s). I heard my Dad's old LPs of these artists when I was I kid. Good Stuff.
As for the controversy about finally inducting him into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, I have to agree with Paullonnden.
Does Rock in Roll really need a Hall of Fame?? Wasn't it supposed to be rebelious music, shoving your middle finger at society?
Cleveland was chosen for its location because Cleveland disc-jock Alan Freid first used the term "rock and roll" on the air there during one of his early fifties broadcasts. (Actually the term "rock and roll" was old Black slang for having sex. Old Black blues musicians when they played faster more danceable "jump blues" because of the extremely suggestive style of dancing that generally happened began to ccall that style of fast-blues "rock and roll music.") The rest of course is history.
Induct this man ( finally!) into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation by writing to : The rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, 1290 Avenue Of The Americas, New York, NY 10404
Tell them you think its high time they inducted him into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his innovation of the music videos... You wouldn't be watching these videos without him.
This man innovated the music video. You would not be watching videos if not for him... yet, 50 years after his death he has still not been inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation!!! Please write a letter to :
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation,1290, Avenue Of The Americas, New York, NY 10404 and request he be inducted for his innovation of the music video, its about time!!!!!

Clowns that gave this thumbs down obviously disagree with me that The Big Bopper is CLASS.
So go, and stand in your R & R hall of Lame as the bunch of wax dolls that you are.
