I agree with the people who say that Jack was the more classy Joker while Heath was a more crazy Joker.

Heath was excellent, but he plays a more realistic, out-of-his-mind kind of character.

They are like two different Jokers.

The Dark Knight was really good, and I think Ledger did well, but I didn't like the Joker's character. He was too psycho/terrorist when he should have been more crazy/clown-like. He was a depressing character, not the funny kind of Joker that you kind of almost like even though he's evil.

Batman the Animated Series had the best Joker, and it wasn't a cartoon. It was an "animated series". 8)

But come on even the comic book Joker wasn't like The Dark Knight Joker. Dark Knight's Joker was more like the The Batman's (cartoon) Joker, except he actually kills people. But I agree that Jack's Joker wasn't quite right either. The only funny thing Ledger did in the whole movie was make the pencil disappear. When he dressed up as a nurse(brokeback moment) I almost boo'd him in the theater.

It's more of a wicked/disturbed kind of humor. Comic books come out the way you want it to. You can give the character the voice you want and even the attitute to a certain extent. The Joker is supposed to be crazy, i mean c'mon, he wears white make up and lipstick with green hair and a purple suit... tell me that's not crazy. And I don't understand why you would boo him in the theater.

Whenever I watch it though, I can't stop seeing The Joker as... Jack Nicholson.

I did love Ledger's performance though, it gave The Joker what I think is, how The Joker is suppose to act. Just the little subtle things made me laugh when I watched The Dark Knight. Especially, "let me show you a magic trick."

never say never...sure, Heath figure is the best one to date....but...Chris Nolan wrote TwoFace out of the story (and btw is the Joker Batmans Nemesis)...so, somebody else will do his part.THIS actor will have a really heavy load on his shoulders,to be LIKE him or even better.But I think, we will see when the Dark Knight returns to cinema.
