if you want have a good frame rate on gta 4 with this card, use patch 1.0.4.0 for gta 4 and overclock your gpu ( do it at your own risk). i can get 22 fps in 800x600, everything low except texture, shadows, render quality in high. my spec is c2de7200 2.53ghz, 4gb ddr2, nvidia 9400 gt 512 mb, win 7 ult 32bit. you can set to high texture on 512mb vram by using commandline ( you can find it on youtube). sorry for my bad english.

Ok, I have a 9400GT 1GB like yourself, 3GB of RAM, Quadcore Q8300 2.5Ghz, but when I "attempted" to play the game, it was like a bad stopmotion video (I was probably getting like 5 or slightly more FPS). Admitidely my computer is dustier than a Chilean mine, but I doubt that would severly cripple the performance. What's the problem here?

Well, the 9400GT only uses 512MB memory, so 1GB memory is a waste, it's just a marketing strategy to make this low-end card moar expensive. Also, the "latent memory" ends up SLOWING DOWN the VGA itself abit

Anyway, people say the 9400GT sucks, but you can play nearly every game with it on Medium-Low. And really, I don't think it's worth to play 750 bucks on a "monster card" like 5970

@yeshperry It's your 9400 GT definitely. Get a better one to fix it. Also, try patching it to the latest version to get more performance. I would suggest an ATi HD 5xxx card. You should get one above or at 5650.
