You did a great job - AM&J was a great song for an important time in America. I hope we never forget how important our civil rights are. thanks - I'll go blow my nose and wash my face now
I think this song needs brought up to speed. Always It's the "good Guys" getting wasted, Can't we do something good for a change ? like "has anybody here seen that ass hole Newt?(or W or whoever needs cut down to size) Can you tell me where he's gone ?" as your polishing your rifle sight!
I love the last image you chose to put in, the space shuttle lauching. Very symbolic of the hope that we can as a collective species and member of the animal kingdom rise above and reach beyond such pathetic nonsense. Though there's still much pathetic nonsense we still have to deal with, of the new variety and, sadly, even still of the old variety too.
@unfortunatebeam that was actually the apollo saturn v rocket.....JFK's dream was to put a man on the moon within 10 yrs....it happaned in 1969. I remember watching the launch and the landing in 5th grade. the world came to a halt to witness it..............
Thanks for a great montage set to one of the most beautiful, powerful songs ever written. The Saturn V at the end was a great touch. When Abraham, Martin, and John was a hit it didn't really sink in for some reason. Now it gets me big time.
...Giffords was shot in the head at point blank range by a man who opened fire during a meet & greet with constituents. Among the dead are an aide to the congresswoman, a 9-year-old girl and Judge John Roll
I dedicate this song to the recovery of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in Arizona, & those killed today, including a 9 year old girl. :-(
USA TODAY - Rep. Gabrielle Giffords survives Arizona shooting-
U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords remains in critical condition after a shooting rampage at a Tucson shopping center that has shaken the nation and left at least six people dead and more than a dozen wounded. ...
Those liking this great video...never forget that you and I are alike and we're a rare breed. We should all work harder to seek each other out and be friends.
I love this song!!! It raises the hair on my neck and gives me goosebumps. Was five when JFK was shot down. But remember that day, surely do. My mother was crying.
My first experience of feeling a sense of loss. Worry for my mother. Wondering what was going on. What did it mean? I learned all that later.
Thank you so much for that! It was amazing and so touching! I woke up really early and had to hear that song after many years of missing it! It could not have hit to heart and soul better....good luck my friend!
Funny that a song attributed to the peace movement of the 60s has two of three being Republican. George Wallace was what? The KKK was predominantly what? Just curious.
@911isbusy Lincoln was the only Republican in the bunch and he wouldn't be welcome in today's Republican Party...JFK and RFK were Democrats and Martin Luther King didn't belong to either party but was a strong backer of LBJ in the 1964 election....Today's Republican Party has been taken over by the old white racist southern Democratic Party of yesterday......Today's Republicans have nothing in common with the party of Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Eisenhower or even of Richard Nixon
@medesdaddy Sure Lincoln would be welcome. King voted Rep because the party that posed the greatest threat to him were the Southern Dems (locally). On a national level King made the CRA happen - too much credit is given the Dems. Without King, the CRA would not have passed. I don't know where you get the idea Reps have been taken over by white racists. I am not white and though I am a Libertarian (a true "liberal" in the classical sense), I don't see this racism you speak of. Do you?
As I sit and watch the Kennedy tapes and I remember those tumultuous days after JFK was shot. I recall the conspiracy theories so plentiful, the pain and courage of Jackie, the swearing-in of LBJ on Airforce One. It was one of those times when people remember exactly where they were then.
Thanks for sharing. Very heartfelt and well put together. Ive been talking to friends alot about the 60s and 70s-the music, anti-war events like Kent State, etc. This song caprtured the era and the feelings that are so important and overlooked nowadays.
Came back to listen & watch this...it's been a long time...and it's still a beautiful video! You do a nice job! 10+++++++++++++++ stars & many more! Love, Red
This is so inspirational. We're so lost in this world sometimes, hope seems like just a word.
Thank you for posting. I'm crying. I'm praying, we find another great leader-one for the history books that will elevate us like the leaders this song is dedicated to. God Bless.
I really agree with you about this song. It is such a poignant and inspirational song that will go on for many more years to come. This song has been an absolute favorite of mine for years. A fitting tribute to Lincoln, Dr. King, President Kennedy, and Bobby Kennedy, even though his name is mentioned in the song, but not in the title.
YES INDEED "HOW DARE THEY !!!" LOOK IT UP ! CIA behind the MURDER of all these people who had a DIFFERENCE OF OPINION, other than THE GOV....and YOU & I are next! LOOK THAT UP TOO! you either fight on the side of the oppressed, or YOU are on the side of THE OPPRESSOR & I guess YOU think that is MORAL & ALL RIGHT, TOO....? murder is murder is murder is murder ! AND IS WRONG ! NO MATTER WHAT! END OF CONVERSATION!
AND YES I DO VOTE HAVE VOTED SINCE 1970 ! BUT I VOTE STRICTLY CONSTITUTIONAL ! which is near to IMPOSSIBLE LATELY! VOTING IS RIGGED TOO! so it is just GOING THRU THE MOTIONS! BUT I RESEARCH , WATCH, and RECORD who plays by the RULES in their careers! ABIDING BY OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS!
I hate murder also but to say it's your government is to say it is you who are the murderer....this is your government.did you vote ? if not shut up..... if you did maybe your not doing enough to change what you see is wrong. Did you take your meds today????
A very good and enjoyable redition of the original from the early 60's. When Dion started his comeback he hit the top of the charts, and many people hit the record stores all over this great nation. Very good work.
Who is singing this song? I heard this on the radio the other day and everyother person I heard singing didn't sound nearly as good. I think this is the same person singing I heard on the radio.
@thegirlslol2 Thank you for posting this. The singer is named Dion. Great song that is a perfect choice for what has happen. I was looking for the right song to express my feelings. you did a great job. thank yoou.
