My friends and I will set this song on repeat and let it play in the background while we hang out. After a while, it just feels natural, like it was always supposed to be there... we can let it play for hours with out complaints.
First time I hear of this game, but this music (Pretty goddamn excellent) makes me want to find out about it. Hmm... I wonder how much it's on steam (If it's on there at all)?
I've listened to this theme through for quite a many times already. I'd love to play The Neverhood, because it would bring some fresh air into this "realistic HD all-3D" atmosphere that seems to be going on in both animated movies and games alike. Plus I haven't played that many point-and-click adventure games in my life, only one to be excact.
The reason why this song is so catchy is because it is so well composed. Like VERY well composed. The production and composition of a song can make or break it. Everything to the phrasing of the instruments to the harmonies makes this tune get nailed in your head.
As I keep saying: You have to back before 2005 to see brave games and brave music and brave gameplay and brave graphics. and brave stories. since 2005 games have got more cowardly in all those departments.
@bushwhacker2k Darklands, Terra Nova: Task Force Centauri, X-Com, Sea Rogue, Sword of the Samurai, System Shock1 and 2, Deus Ex, Half Life, The Longest Journey. I could go on, but I don't have 7 hours to type even half of them..... So the above is just a selection!
@HardWarUK I agree: The reason? Because since 2005 (I'd say even earlier, 2002, but let's say 2005), game's prices to produce have reached so high that taking risks is no longer feasible. Before, one game selling badly would cause the studio to try harder next time. Nowadays, one game selling badly will make a studio go bankrupt, so studios tend to go for tried and tested formulas. The only ones who can still get brave are indie developers. VALVe is also still a fan of taking risks.
@masterplusmargarita What you say is very sensible. Valve seems more interested in Steam at the moment, and one game from Valve or Blizzard or Bethesda every 5 years isn'6 going to keep gaming alive! You are right about Indie games, but I think you are forgetting the second tier developers in Europe. They don't have $30 million to spend on a game, but they do have $10 million, unlike the Indies that have only $100,000's. I mean AA titles like STALKER, Gothic, Two Worlds and Witcher, etc
I remember this game way way back when. I think it was one of the first real games I played. Played it with my brother. Why don't they make games like these anymore?
Dear SupraDarky...thank you for an awesome playlist...or should I say an awesome 4 playlists now that you're over 600. Seriously it just keeps me coming back, and is about the only thing I pay attention to on youtube.
I recently bought the 2 cd set of music titled "Imaginarium: Songs from The Neverhood". Its awesome! Also has the skullmonkeys songs. My favorite is the bonus room song.
YES! This is one of my faves from the game. Have you heard Klogg's Castle theme yet, as it's up there too, IMO. Far more sinister than Klaymen's theme for sure, but has that same kinda vibe that's unique to this game.
Oh my god. I loved The Neverhood. Such an awesome point and click game. I forgot about it now and this brings back so many memories. Thanks for posting this!
I find this to be a really pleasant sounding theme. The intrumentation is great and the melody is fun, just like the game. It really starts getting in your head after a couple listens.
@SupraDarky this game was awesome. I watched my brother play the whole thing. We sang the music the entire time. Also, if you liked this play Skull Monkeys, amazing.

Earthworm Jim, and Neverhood are the BEST video games ever created. I NEED TO SAY THAT. Both games were created by Doug TenNapel.

@MrNorbert1994 Now that you say that, there is a striking resemblance between their character designs.

@HardWarUK Can you list specific games? Because it feels like it's been longer than that since gaming got cowardly.
