  • An infinite stockpile of Megaman's head?

    ...gross...

    XD

  • I had a crazy glitch happen to me once on the real cart. Out of boredom one day I was pushing up and down on the game cart while the NES was on. Out of nowhere on the title screen, Megaman dropped from the top to the bottom and died and I got the "Game Over" message. I'm like "WTF?!" So I continued, only I was on the last level now, and the graphics were all messed up.

I was unable to progress when I got to the part where you need to clear the blocks away, and I was disappointed. :(

  • I always hated the magnet drop in this game. Which then makes me hates Gutsman's stage even MORE

  • @acicon

Do Elecman's stage twice. The Elecbeam can clear out the blocks where the M-beam is behind just the same as the useless Gutsman 'weapon' does.

  • Uh...all of what?

  • @GeminiLaser I think he meant about your glitches.

  • @GeminiLaser I think he means robot masters

  • I think he means celebrities. I'm jealous.

  • Can You Show Me How You Make Your Voice Loud And Clear Plz Respond

  • No need to add "Plz Respond"; I always get around to answering questions eventually. :) You need a good quality microphone, and that's pretty much it, unless there's a specific technical problem you're running into.

  • @SplashWoman64 I highly suggest the Logitech USB headset. It records your voice really loud, not loud enough so that it's obnoxious, but still loud. It also records your voice as if you were talking to them right then. It is an amazing headset, and I'm wearing one now.

    :)

  • I used that last one to (finally) kill the Yellow Devil

  • @tsukinoakuma yeah, makes it quite easy, and who wouldn't agree when I say that, if we knew it back then, we would have used it all the time.

  • Neat!

  • I finally have Gemini Laser Mega Man 1 on DVD! Now to get Mega Man 2 on DVD.... Have you ever thought about manufacturing your own DVDs?

  • I have this grand plan, you see, to assemble a DVD with my videos and give it away as part of a contest. Someday, perhaps.

  • @GeminiLaser Well if you do, try using a dual layer disc. They cost more, but can hold more data and longer videos. You should also make a really cool custom disc case.

  • This is still totally all hypothetical, but I'd go all-out if I did make a DVD...

  • @GeminiLaser Hypothetically, DVD Architect is a good tool to use.

  • Heh. I'll keep that in mind...

  • Someone may have told you this already, but have you ever used Ice Slasher against the picket-throwing enemies in Guts Man's stage when they are about to throw at you? If you get the timing right, they rapid-fire at you, three pickets at a time.

  • Cool. I'm not sure if I've ever seen that!

  • Instead of Chill Penguin, Junk Penguin. By the way, the Penguin glitch happened to me too :D

  • Junk Penguin? Hmm...

  • thank you for the infinite 1-up trick. i suck at this game and die alot.

  • It's tricky to pull off, but I'm glad to help!

  • oh shit! the only controller I have is the turbo controller. that means I can't beat the game.

  • Pfft--I'm sure you can turn off the turbo, or stand back farther and take out the enemies, or use a different weapon, or just run past them... ;)

  • EMULATOR WITH TURBO

  • What!? Where?!

  • 1 Elec Beam 1 Boss?

  • Um...sure?

  • @GeminiLaser

Poor Ice Man, he didn't deserve to be flat-out overkilled with that Thunder Beam Select Trick business. Although too bad this isn't Final Fantasy X, otherwise you'd be rewarded for that overkill, ha hah.

  • I love the inflection in your voice when you talk about the extra life by the sniper joe. You sound like you're talking to little kids or something.

  • Heh--thanks.

  • at 1:42 when you go back down the ladder with shooting alot of magnet beam, there is a random magnet beam inside the right wall

  • I noticed that, too. Weird, but fun.

  • In the Copy Bot battle, when the copied robot shoots out I, C, F, B, switch to any weapon you want and the Copy Bot Weapon's pattelte will change!

  • Neat! Gotta try that sometime.

  • this deserves a sub, lol, keep posting glitches! probably one of the best parts of a nes game

  • Thanks! Yeah, I have way too much fun with the glitches, especially in the later games.

  • Does that Select pausing trick thing you did with Thunder Beam on Ice Man (and more commonly for most folks, Thunder Beam on the Rock Mo...er, Yellow Devil, ahem) also work on Mega Man Anniversary Collection? I mean the 8 games on it are supposed to basically be direct ports, I think, so...

I know you said in an older comment that you'd not yet gone into MMAC to try them all yet, but that was 3 months or something ago, and I'm curious to if you've attempted that one in particular in that time.

  • Nope! The MMAC removes the soft pause functionality (that is, pause with no menu screen), which eliminates your ability to do that. While the games are ostensibly direct ports, there's quite a few technical differences that diminish the authenticity and professionalism, but it's still a great collection.

I have beaten all the games in the MMAC; not sure what I was talking about at the time.

  • So now you do know for sure what glitches do/don't still work in the MMAC? I just recall you mentioning in some old comment on one of these videos that you'd not yet had a chance to test everything yet. So that's interesting to know. Thanks, Gemini! Or would you prefer Nathaniel? Either way, your playthroughs of/showoffery in MM1~5 have officially made you my (Mega Man) hero. Aren't you proud? XD

  • Oh oh oh. I got confused--I thought you were asking if I'd played through all the games on the MMAC. I know some of the glitches that do and don't work, and can guess about the rest. You can call me Nathaniel or GeminiLaser or GL or whatever; I like them all. I am so proud. :)

  • I blame the character limit - I could have been more specific (thus avoiding this confusion) if I had had room. It doesn't help that I'm an overtalkative sort, if that's even a word anyway, thus 500 characters is actually pretty limiting for me sometimes. (See, there goes over half already!)

Anyway. Just keep on doing what you do, sir! You have my support. ...Wait a minute, who do I think I am, April O'Neil?? Don't mind me... /lame reference

  • @GeminiLaser

Mr. Hoover, sir! Could I perhaps show you some video footage of the Select/Pause Trick in action in Mega Man Anniversary Collection? I couldn't record it myself (and it's a shame, because I've been practicing it since it seems more difficult to pull off in that port), but I was able to ask one of my online friends to do so, and he uploaded it. Perhaps after seeing it, it'd at least be worth a mention, if you ever want to do a future video of previously missed glitches?

  • Absolutely! Just shoot me over a PM with the video link.

  • @GeminiLaser

It is done, my good sir. Go forth and be amazed!...or...at least amused to see it's back in action. Or something. Anyway, yes, happy to do what I can, my good Gemini.

  • hehe nice vid, nostalgia kickin in quite a bit, gj and thanx!!

  • My pleasure!

  • In either cutman's stage,or elecman's stage, if you press select and leave in frozen for a long time, the music goes away you can only hear the backbeat

  • Huh. Gotta try that sometime.

  • I'm pretty sure you can find many other glitches in this game because as you know, the original Mega Man was a glitchfest.

  • Absolutely. I thought of several more after releasing this video, and lots of people have contributed their own glitches.

  • I want your megaman 6 glitches tricks and other cool stuff uploaded also this is my new account until i get my PsiStarstormOmega981 account back

  • It needs to be compiled and recorded before I can upload it! You'll see it by the end of the year.

  • @GeminiLaser i cant wait also for mega man 2 you need an emulator if you dont want the annoying noises

  • Right you are. But I find the noises to be kind of charming. :)

  • You can destroy guts blocks with Elecman's weapon, y'know.

  • I do! But I already demonstrated that in my run of the game, so I didn't feel like doing that again here.

  • There's another glitch. While fighting Dr. Wily in his first form, get him down to 1 bar of energy, switch to the plasma cannon, then shoot Wily's cannon and at the same time, get hurt. Then once Wily's energy bar refills for his second form, repeatedly press start. Then when you get to the left hand corner of the screen, press left. What happens? That's for you to know and for me to find out.

  • That just happened to me the other night! Wild.

  • At 2:26-2:37 it reminded me of Cave Johnson.

  • A little toward the end, I suppose. :)

  • That's one I'll definitely need to try--thanks!

  • I found a couple those glitches myself... but never could get the infinite life one, kept falling down never could get back up! lol

  • It's tough!

  • Did you ssee Jamesnintendonerd's Mega Man 1 and 2 glitch video?

  • I haven't! Should I?

  • @GeminiLaser I'm just saying because you might be interested by the glitches that they show off in the video.

  • you remember that latter on elecmans stage near the magnet beam( the one you can't go down all the way) guess what? theres more fun on that latter! just go all the way up on the next screen, at the top of the ladder, hold up and try to go over =P

  • I've seen that before, just forgot to put it in here. Very silly.

  • @GeminiLaser Can you do other games instead of Mega Man.

  • Yes! Check out my work on the GameCola YouTube channel, GCDotNet. I've done Deja Vu (Windows version), and lots of Flash games.

  • @GeminiLaser Flash games like Super Smash Flash (2)?

  • Not Super Smash Flash, but anything I've reviewed in my Flash Flood column on the GameCola website.

  • On the Magnet Beam screen, I've cloned the pick-up blocks somehow. I picked up the block, spun around and the one I picked up was still there! I haven't been able to do it again though.

  • Crazy! I think I've seen something like that happen to me before, actually.

  • ASOUME!

  • Bravo

  • Thanks!

  • @GeminiLaser i love your video's you rule do you know if the gamecube megaman collection game has these glitches? if so comment back.

  • Thanks! I haven't tested every one of these glitches on the MMAC, but only some of them work.

  • @GeminiLaser i will try some of these glitches today. one megaman 1 2 3 4 5

  • Have fun!

  • GeminiLaser You Are A Very Good Mega Man Player!!! Excelent Video, 5/5.

  • Thank you! Glad you enjoy!

  • Fun Fact: Climb the ladder you did the "vibro dance " on. When you're on top, hold up and left. So much fun!

  • Yes! There's a lot of glitches I forgot to point out here.

  • Suzies? I thought they were called Octopus Batteries. :S

  • Like Hard Hats, there's more than one name out there.

  • @GeminiLaser Good point. Especially Sniper Joes. Seriously! There's like... 100 names for each type in each game!

  • I could tell you all the enemy names.

  • Probably!

  • why didint you put in the glitch where the second sniper joe in bombmans stage spazzes around in the wall?

  • There's actually a lot of glitches I missed for this game; at this point I wasn't thinking very hard about all the possible glitches I could add. That's why there's always the potential for another video someday...

  • Gemeni, you know of the little trick that makes Elecman get a small cold, right? A small cold known as Toadmanitus?

  • It's been a popular thing for people to point out to me recently, but I appreciate that you're willing to share. ;)

  • @GeminiLaser Probably because of RoahmMythril. He perfect runs every Robot Master in the entire classic series, from 1 to 10 and everything in between.

    Eeeeexcept for the X series.

  • Ah, that would explain it. Well, I'LL be doing the X series. Someday. Eventually. (I've got a loooot of games to finish off first...)

  • But the glitch only works on Elecman =/ Forgot to put it there.

  • Probably has to do with the ladder. I'll try it out sometime!

  • I found a glitch on megaman 1. If you pause at the right moment before you enter to boss battle, you get teleport animation which takes you in then out and then back in.

  • Forgot to put that one in, but it's fun!

  • i really really like your videos!

the way you talk is soooooo funny xD

    keep it up (mega)man!

  • Why, thank you! And there'll be more this week, so stay tuned!

  • Is it just a coinsidence that you have the username of a slightly hard megaman boss?

  • Yup. Total coincidence. Had nothing to do with Mega Man at all. Complete accident. ;)

  • tanks to this series i am a suscriber Glitches, Tricks, and Other Cool Stuff

  • Hooray!

  • glitch at the end is great for....lets just say a very EVIL boss*COUGH*yellowdevil*COUGH*

  • True!

  • @GeminiLaser yes,if i EVER get megaman 1(i only have 2 on wii(VC(virtual console)) powered up on PSP,10/9 on Xbox,and 3 on NES

  • @GeminiLaser did u use a controller if which didu use and where can u get it from

  • This fun little tidbit is noted in my profile, but I use a Logitech Wireless Rumblepad 2, which I bought at...um...CompUSA, I think it was, several years ago.

  • If you pause at 1:43 and look and the wall to the right of the screen, you can see a magnet panel, but how did it get there?

  • WHAT? That's crazy! Good catch! The only thing I can think of is that those platforms were carried over from the previous screen.

  • @GeminiLaser Could be. That's kinda funny how it just teleported w/ ya.

  • i subbed :)

  • Hooray!

  • continued

I came back after and the boss wasn't there anymore. So i entered where the boss should be and everthng went back t normal. :D

  • OMG OMG Guess what happened when i entered the 3rd megaman boss!! At the same time as I got hit by a exploding penguin, I entered the boss room and went back right away for no reason. After that The boss still appeared but gllitchd up. Since the part of the level is somethig that scrolls, I can go to the part where the water forces you to the right. but since there was no water, I can walk to the left of the screen so I did It was looooong. near the end I saw green again.

  • Yes! I had that happen once--crazy!

  • lol

  • i always found it weird that megaman 1 had the select button pause the game. its like theres 2 buttons to pause the game. whats the point? well...apart from the multiple damage glitch i really dont see any use for that.

  • I don't have any proof to back this up, but I'd wager that Mega Man 1 was one of the first video games (or, at least, one of the first platformers) to feature an in-game menu screen. Pressing one button to pause the game was typical, but switching between weapons was usually done in real-time. Given that there wasn't a lot of multi-functionality for games of that time period, it makes sense that there was a separate Pause button, if for no other reason than to see the whole screen when paused.

  • @supernikopbelic If bullets are out for anything, you cannot Start pause, but you can Select pause.

  • Ah, good point!

  • I just beat Mega Man 1. Honestly, it's my favorite, and I cherish the game dearly. I felt much satisfaction when I beat it. And I have you to credit for fueling much of my Mega Man spirit when things were looking bleak. You're awesome.

    Lol.

  • Awesome! Despite the fact that there are a few things that really annoy me about the game, it's my second-favorite in the series (after MM4, of course). Thanks for the nice words--I'm glad I could help.

  • u know this game breaks the tradition some how except in the psp version they invented time man and oil man..... which was kinda pointless but anyway flash man and skull man huh o wellz never actually fight against them

  • Conversely, every game after MM1 broke the tradition. Time Man was OK, but I didn't like his stage; Oil Man's stage was OK but I really don't like him.

  • i use turbo fire on psp megaman games XD i only push triangle and sqaure very fast i wanna ask you which is ur fav robot master mine is elec man hes cool but really bad voice acting in megaman power up

  • It's a tie between Flash Man and Skull Man for me. It's funny because, for the most part, each game has one and only one of my all-time favorite robot masters, though there are a few games that have almost-favorite bosses.

  • @GeminiLaser

New glitch: Near the extra life, don't kill the sniper joe and then walk toward Bomb Man and watch the sniper joe near the extra life. Surprised u didn't find that

  • Yup, I've seen that one. Looking back on it, there are a number of glitches that I should have included in this video; probably when I'm done with MM6 I'll go back and do one or two more glitch videos for MM1 and MM2 (which definitely has a few more to add), though I might also do an "NES Mega Man Series Glitches" video that collects all of the one or two random things I missed for each game.

  • You fall that fast when you fall off anything, not just a Magnet Beam platform. I don't know where I first noticed it, but it actually makes the infamous Guts Man Platforms even harder

  • More specifically, you fall that fast when anything drops out beneath you, which really makes any kind of recovery impossible with those platforms.

  • Not just when something falls out beneath you, but also when you walk off something. I remember now that I first noticed it when I was trying to drop to a lower platform somewhere, but instead of jumping, I walked off the higher platform and fell at like 300 miles an hour to my death

  • I just went back and timed it in Guts Man stage; if you walk off the first cliff, it takes about half a second to fall to your death. If you walk off the moving platform, which is at the same height, you fall almost instantly.

I'm sure you're not making this up, but I can't think of another situation off the top of my head where that could happen.

  • @GeminiLaser: 1:15: I have a theory as to why you drop really, really fast after the magnet beam disappears. Since your firing a magnetic beam and we all know magnets attract metal, which Megaman is made out of, so you are stuck to the beam because it is acting like a magnet. When it disappears, gravity takes over, thus you drop really, really fast.

  • Not a bad idea!

  • @GeminiLaser: Thanks. By the way, at 3:52, what's that "wonk wonk" thing from?

  • 3:52? This video only goes to 3:45. I'm pretty sure I know what you're talking about, though.

  • @GeminiLaser: I think I meant your MM2 glitch video. Sorry if I didn't say that it was from a different video. I just forgot for a second.

  • Ah, no problem. That's a phrase I borrowed from a friend at college.

  • Aw, I was hoping you had a particular glitch. I was about to fight the third Wily Stage boss when a missile hit me just at the last second at the screen transition. However, Mega Man recoiled after the screen transitioned and I was knocked back into the level while the boss music was still going on.

Don't think it harmed the game, but it was fun.

  • Huh, that's different. Well, I've learned a few new tricks since I made this video, so who knows? Maybe I'll do another video someday and include that glitch.

  • I used the pause trick on the Yellow Devil to show how easy it was beat him with Thunder Beam.

  • It does get much easier that way.

  • oh i forgot to mention that after i watched one of your videos i finally figured out that your username is named after one of your favorite megaman weapons ^_^

oh and i play Megaman 2 ON MY IPOD :D

  • VERY COOL.

  • @GeminiLaser i know :D

except theres a little bit of lag randomly...but other than that the game works great...i STILL cant get past the item 1 thing in Dr. Wily's castle stage one-im having so much trouble with it XD

  • So...have you made it past the first castle stage yet? ;)

  • All of the megaman bosses are cool but the best one has just come- SHEEPMAN :D

  • SHEEP MAN! If it weren't for the fact that I really like his character design, I might be banging my head against the wall right now.

  • im just curious what his ability is going to be...is he going to shoot wool coats at you?...im so curious as whats it going to be...and he rocks. whats next, cow man? (you cant get much worse than "Hardman" though...)

  • I'm not sure--I'm looking forward to being surprised when I finally play the game--but I'd guess it'll be something similar to the Lightning Shield (I think that's the name) from Sonic the Hedgehog 3. I think they call it... THUNDER WOOL!

And weren't we supposed to save the animal bosses for the X series?

  • @GeminiLaser well, i didnt get to play the X series (but i LOOOOVE THE HIDDEN HADOUKEN and SHORYUKEN in the games!!!!!) and i guess thunder would make a little sense cuz of all the rubbing electric stuff...but what about YOU THROW A CLOUD OF WOOL AT YOUR ENEMY?!

  • I was never good at executing the special moves in X1 and X2, but I appreciate that they're there.

  • I find it odd you didn't use this on Yellow Devil. Also, it works with the Fire Arm, Ice Slasher, and I think Rolling Cutter as well.

  • The pause/resume trick, you mean? Well, EVERYBODY uses that glitch on the Yellow Devil, so I figured I'd be different and show off a little bit. ;)

  • when you climbing up on a ladder and are on the top hold down and up and you fly through the wall if it is a wall on the screen

  • Hm. Maybe it's just my controller, but I can't seem to make it work.

  • Duuuuuh. Alright, I know exactly what you mean. I was trying to do that in MM2, and when it wasn't working, I assumed I had just made that glitch up. Guess I was looking in the wrong game, or being really hopeless.

  • Firing at enemies at close range with the mega buster using a turbo controller does a lot less damage than usual.

  • Actually, I've got a thought about that: I've got no proof, but I suspect the game only tallies damage if there's a break between each shot. Without the pause/resume trick, Thunder Beam only damages enemies once, though it's big enough that it should apply multiple hits by the time it passes through an enemy. Maybe the game thinks close-quarters rapid fire is like Thunder Beam: the stream of bullets is counted as just one shot until there's a tiny space between shots.

  • @GeminiLaser I think the reason for falling really quick off the Magnet Beam has to do with the game's simulation of newtonian physics. Like real life, Rock always starts falling slowly, but accelerates to a higher maximum speed, called the Terminal Velocity. I think that due to a glitch, having your footing dissapear confuses the game engine and you start falling at Teminal Velocity Immediately. I've also noticed that this happens with those Gutsman platforms, too.

  • PHYSICS??? Okay. I think you're on the right track--my guess is that Mega Man's falling speed is calculated by the amount of time he's in the air, and standing on a Magnet Beam or Guts Man platform still counts as being in the air, as it's not a static part of the level architecture.
