so i got two speakers 4 ohms and a amp that is 2 ohms, im on this website and shows me the wiring configuration. Question for you man, even if I wire them up right can i still f_ck up my amp or speakers?
i did that exact wiring, but the quality wasnt clear because of the connection. all you have to do is take the +&- from 1 sub that goes from the box to the amp and run it to the +&- of your second sub. that will 100% give it a good connection and not be as frustrating. but yea check your shit so you dont ruin it. running things @ what they arent rated for will ruin your system.
A better way to do this, you should take 1 wire and connect it to the negative of one speaker and connect the other end to the negative of the other speaker. Than take two speaker wires and connect one wire to the positive of one speaker and the other wire to the positive of the other speaker. Now you have only two wires coming out which you then put one into the neg and one into the pos of the amp.
i cant believe this guy got subs instead of getting off of that donut! sorry dude but you need more basic electrical theory b4 you setup any good stereo.
i think u need to bridge them to get 2 ohms i think what youve got is 4 ohms on one channel.. unless your amp is not brigeable, in which case i think your stuck with 4 ohms?
@htowngoonies You could teach an entire years worth of classes to learn about audio engineering but to keep it simple, the amp is RATED stable at 4 ohms. so having a 2ohm speaker would not be good because the amp would heat up too much. But having eight would be okay because it is above the amps rating. AND you could even run two eights parallel and they would work quite well without heating up the amp too much
how many whats are you pushing? cause i am pushing 800 watts to 3 subs in my car and they move a lot more than those subs. they sound good just want to know the wattage.
@g1andrhone tell u want I can tell this guy is no pro from his video, so checkout one of mine search mustang super bass it's the first that shows on the result but look at the part 2 vid I just made its awesome man!!! Subscribe n comment n I got all the answers ull ever want;)
hey man i have a question. i have a logic 1400watt amp 4 channels with a sony explod 1200watt sub. i have it hooked up to channel one but idk if its at 4 ohms or 2. id like to run it at 2 ohms. the amp says 2 ohm stable but i dont have a owners maual for it so i was wondering how do i run the single sub at 2ohm? thanks
Smh @ some of the crazy ways people do things, and people wonder y their subs burn up and their amps overheat and fry due to poor installation/ poor adjusting, incorrect wiring of channel(s) etc. I know people love music and sounds but please do yourself a favor if you are unsure, read manuals, or watch reliable tutorials on company websites. They put up wiring diagrams to show different sub wiring scenarios for a reason!! Amp manuals will show the correct way to wire up the amp.Only takes a sec
@TheSwagDragon wrong. learn about amps and subs before you go saying stupid shit. Pick the biggest hip-hop artist and pick the biggest "house music" artist and lets compare who has the most fans. Quit listening to girly music, itll get you no where
@TheSwagDragon Subs are actually made for all types of music. A subwoofer reproduces a low frequency tone, from a low frequency input. Subs are used at every concert you will ever go to, and they are also used in home theater systems for obvious reasons.
you're an idiot, its the amp that handles the resistance, not the subs. Some amps can handle down to 0.7 Ohms, others not....specs of the amp should be known before making such a modification
to go from 8 ohm to 2 ohm u should wire in series no?? thats what i did with my subs.. i have to ten inch dual voice coil subs. i started out with 8 ohm and i wired in series and ended with a final impedence of 2 ohms.
@guitarist5181 he's right... wiring in series would increase ohms. Parellel wiring divides load. Two 4 ohm subs wired in parellel would be 4/2 which is two...understand?
now most amps today are built with the option of bridging 2 channels, but there are still a few that arent capable of doing that. you should wire your subs with a parallel circuit (+ side of the bridged channels to + side of 1st sub, then - side of that 1 to + side of 2nd sub, then - side of 2nd sub to - side of the bridged channels) to drop from 8 ohms to 4 ohms, but you cant drop from 2 subs that r 8 ohms to a 2 ohm load....unless you wire 2 more subs in that same circuit
no offense bro, but do you know how to read a wiring diagram? there are even diagrams showing you how to wire subs/amps in multiple configurations depending on the ohm load you intend to use. just to clarify to anyone watching this vid and using it to wire your system...YOU NEVER WANT TO RUN MORE THAN 1 SUB ON A SINGLE CHANNEL unless it is a class D mono block amp. amps with 2 or more channels arent designed to handle that kind of load, it may work for a while, but the amp will burn up quickly
It's not the subs that handle the ohms its the amp...no offense but if you don't know what you're talking about don't go messing around with impedance changes.
I have a 2009 Hyundai Sonata and it doesnt even need subs! It basically already has subs! Although im still going to get subs so i can lessen the stress on my car door speakers.
@bobac1083 Willy- You think if i got subs in the area between the back seats and the back window (pointed up towards the back window), would it cause damage to my window if i got it to loud? Thats if i get subs...
If u heard in the video he said he is getting new subs. And yeah he has just wired it to one channel. So its still 2ohm just losing either the bass from the music from either the left or right. 8ohm is normally used on hifi systems.
fucking haters these days.....ur sups are great mayne.....at least you have bass....not being a front-inn but i've got 1 L7 kicker wid a sony monoblock and it rattles my truck like an empty tin fish can so yeah just suggesting bruvah or hifonics with a solo x.....
mistake # 1. you have shitty subwoofers...everybody knows Visonik is trash..they are no good. and honestly I bet you a single 12 " Kicker CVR would be louder than those 50 dollar shit subwoofers.
go to the12volt(dot)com. there you go bro haha its not nice to give people false info. all you did was make it run off one channel ha and its "independence" not inpedince.
You should bridge the amp. use the negative on left channel and the positive on the right to push a little bit more power to those subs... Over driving the amp..
Good video mate :) I got 2 1000w P.H.A.T subs which are 4 ohms each. And a 2-channel amp. So if i set mine the same as yours, would there be a lot more bass? Thanks
@XxKYFERxX no put the positive on one channel and one negative on the other channel thats bridging it. then to go to two ohms run a wire from the negative on your speaker to the negative on your other speaker and the positive on your speaker to the positive on your other speaker and run your bridged amp wires to one positive and negative on one speaker it dont matter which one then your at 2 ohms. this guy did it wrong
You bridged it wrong by the way... You just had the subs running off 1 channel so you split the power of 1 channel into each sub. You probably did drop the impedance but you are suppose to run the positive off one channel and the negative off the other channel.
ID LOVE TO KNOW HOW YOU WIRED TWO 8 OHM SUBS TO 2 OHM AS UNLESS THERE DUAL 8 OHM :S UNLIKLY, YOU WOULD ONLY GET 4 OHM FROM THEM IF THEY WERE DUAL 8 OHMS YOU COULD GET 2 OHM WITH PROPER WIREING BUT LOOKIN AT THEM SUBS ID SAY SVC AT 8 OHMS UNLESS THERE SINGLE 4 OHM BUT LOOKING AT THE BOX N WIRES YOU WOULD HAVE EITHER 4 OHM PER CHANNEL OR 2 OHM BRIDGE !
@THEPITBOY2011 If they are Dual 8 ohm subwoofers you can drop the ohms down to 2 ohms. But i doubt the are 8 ohm subwoofers cause usually all newer subs are 4 ohm. its usually the older subs that are running at 8 ohms.
i have the same headunit but i have an alpine 4 channel amp and some old school kickers bridged to 2 ohms they are crazy loud feel like they are sucking the air out of you
Im so confused with this whole wiring thing. I have a DVC 4ohm Pioneer and I just got a mono amp and want to wire it to 2ohms, what exactly would I do? :\
@weeetard he bridged it wrong, he only put it in the right side, on your amp it should have a + plus - and should be far left and far right using both side so u get all the bass
Hey, i wanted to bridge my subs but i found a diagram but it says i have to run a positive to the other sub and some other wires. but my subs are already screwed into the box and i dont feel like taking them out again to do it. If i do it like you have just both positives in the positive term and negatives in neg terms will it still be bridge??
@lpsrt It depends on how you want to bridge it. If you want to do it in series then yes, you'll have to take your subs out. How I have it, all you have to mess with are the wires going straight to your amp.
@ArabianGoggles69 Because when you have 2 different brand drivers pulling different amperage it will sound unbalanced and bad. I've thought about it for sure but I just don't think it would sound good. I could, however, get 2 more kenwoods :p
I am planning on buying what i think is the same head unit you are using. (Kenwood KDC-MP242) could you let me know if thats the one you have and i cant really tell in the video but you can pick the songs you want to listen to right off your mp3 player? I just want to make sure because the first head unit i bought cant do that and its a real pain to have to pick songs through the head unit... just want to make sure before i buy another one. Thanks.
Yes my head unit is a Kenwood KDC-MP242. I am very happy with the power output to my component speakers at the moment. And yes, you are able to pick songs right from your mp3 player and it will play over your system, so long as the auxillery cable is plugged into the head unit. Very nice feature. You can purchase a kit so you can control your mp3 player through the head unit but I do not have that in this video.
so i got two speakers 4 ohms and a amp that is 2 ohms, im on this website and shows me the wiring configuration. Question for you man, even if I wire them up right can i still f_ck up my amp or speakers?

@weeetard he bridged it wrong, he only put it in the right side, on your amp it should have a + plus - and should be far left and far right using both side so u get all the bass

Could I do this same thing with an amp that has pre-determined bridged terminals? Or do I have to use the bridged terminals?

Hey, i wanted to bridge my subs but i found a diagram but it says i have to run a positive to the other sub and some other wires. but my subs are already screwed into the box and i dont feel like taking them out again to do it. If i do it like you have just both positives in the positive term and negatives in neg terms will it still be bridge??
Thanks!

@lpsrt It depends on how you want to bridge it. If you want to do it in series then yes, you'll have to take your subs out. How I have it, all you have to mess with are the wires going straight to your amp.

why didnt u keep them and the kenwoods and just get 2 amps running 4 subs woulda been pretty badass
