Looks like a good move. Maybe you could also do the 'cross-grip' as shown and simply do a scissor sweep instead? Then you don't risk being passed, you could easily return to guard if something goes wrong..
I do mainly no-gi, and controlling the arms is alot harder there.
In this vid, the person in the guard was not resisting. You better believe that a real opponent would be yanking their right arm back super hard to rip it free.
I will append my comment to say that you better complete the move before your opponent rips their right arm free, or it is bad news for you.
That being said, there are many other sweeps that are just as effective, without this potential for disaster.
Are you even a black belt in BJJ? well Igor is, i wouldn't question the effectiveness of what he shows. Try putting on a gi sometime. Your progress wil jump through the roof.
Very nice! I learned this one from Marcelo Grosso's brothers. I love it because it is pretty practical.
Also, generally there are no kneebars or ankle locks allowed for anyone under 6 years of experience. Generally damage happens before much pain is ever felt so no major competitions will allow them from those with less than 5-6 years of experience (Copa and NAGA do not allow them for the inexperienced).
I'm a white belt. Like an idiot I tried doing it to this blue belt and I get knee barred. I don't even know how. But thanks man great vid, I'll keep practising it.
he kneebarred you because you probably didn't control your grips. grips are essential for this sweep, otherwise, you're setting yourself up for a waealth of leglocks and passes.
cool sweep.

Oi! Igor
Muito bom te'cnica!!
Do you still use this grip?
I have been working this grip/game for months and it works great in sparring.
I learned it from Rigan Machado.
He showed a couple triangles, kneebar, 3sweeps and transition to inverted spider guard to triangle.
All from this grip he calls it cross-grip.
Hope you are teaching at the camp in Buzios this summer bro.
