@SabrinaFarid, sure you can use plain white sugar as well, it just that the colour might be a bit pale but this is where food colouring come in :) Have fun!

Kalo di Indo gula jawa = gula merah. Kalo ada palm sugar yang bubuk lebih bagus tuh, toh kan nantinya juga dilarutkan.
