It doesn't matter whether you say yes, no, sir or maam because of how people perceive and read you. It's your whole persona. It's not always about what you say or do. Its how and who you are. Be more assertive. I wouldn't drop the sir or maam because others view it as a weakness. To me it shows the strength of your character and the weakness of theirs. So be confident and assertive for you because you won't work there forever and its a learning experience. Your mother raised you right.
