As a Barnsley fan (and not very keen on Chelsea) ( 1-0 ;] ) I think the referee deserved it. I don't think I've seen a Ref balls up a match so badly before. The referee was a flaming disgrace (and this is coming from a Barnsley fan, who saw an oposition player only get a yellow when he really nearly killed our player and put him in intensive care with bleeding inside his skull). Until FA/FIFA allow the fourth official to use a television set, then this will continue to happen. And deserved too.
