  • This was the second film I seen in a cinema aged 6! my late grandfather took me to see 101 Dalmatians first.Zeppelin was far superior to even my 6 year old tastes.Fantastic film, the effects look good even today.

  • BACK TO THE ZEPPLEIN!!!!!!

  • Great Film and is On DVd from WARNER ARCHIVES COLLECTIONS, AWESOME FILM :-)

  • The widescreen DVD is also a great print!

  • Brilliant film. somebody needs to upload the full version asap.

  • KA BEWM

  • This movie definitely needs more love, as do WWI movies. Sad really.

  • Really enjoyed this movie as a kid. I Loved Roy Budd`s style of film scoring. One can only imagine what scores He would have written for today`s action fare.

  • Interesting! I've never heard of this film before. I'll have to find some way to see it, as I can't get enough of WW1 films.

  • WHERE is the full score by Roy Budd ???

May be it went down with the Zeppelin...

  • The Germans in this movie wanted to invade Britain...and steal the Magna Carta...thinking that that would thereby destroy British morale...not likely...but interesting look at WW1 and Zeppelins.

  • I remember watching this movie as a kid - great film!! Also, I'm glad the Zeppelin NT is now flying :)

  • I have this on VHS if anyone wants to buy it.

Why they have not released this on DVD is beyond me.

  • @ThoughtTraveler It is now available on DVD through the Warner Archive. A bit pricey ($19.95) for a bare-bones disc, but the source print and sound are excellent, and well worth the price. YouTube won't allow a URL link here, but just Google "Warner Archive" and "Zeppelin" and it'll turn up... Good luck!

  • @dasinfogod

Thanks for the tip....I will look it up.

  • The best Zeppelin Film ever. Thank you for remember it

  • This looks like a film not to be missed by WWI nuts. But where can it be found?

  • Hi, where did you find this song? Is there any chance that you could send it to me? Loved the music and the film. Much appreciated.

  • thanks for the clip, is that fraser hines at 1:43? he's in the credits, on the lookout for his image in colour just after his stint as 'jamie' in dw cheers

  • Fantastic to find this thanks! My father was an 'extra' in the film, sadly not shown in your clips, and each day we used to pop down watch the filming water scenes which were shot in Malta where we lived. He played both a 'Jerry' and 'Tommy'.

  • Great comment and information.

    Thanks

  • @RAGUGURU Your dad was a latter day John Paul Jones.

  • Thanks for posting this! My first favorite movie as a 7 year old. This is one movie that begs for a remake. I do think the plot to steal the Magna Cara, crown jewels was a bit lame , but the raid itself was a great scene.

  • Like your comment ...thanks.

  • Stone the Crows ! Those damn, bloody Jerries are at it again !!!!!......Great movie in the spirit of Alistair MacClean. Thanks for posting this.

  • A cracking, old fashioned "Boys Own" style adventure film.

("Boys Own" was a British story comic published between 1879 and 1967. Think Ripping Yarns style stories).

  • This movie looks good epic. Zeppelins were amazing, but definitely not one of the most powerful weapons of the First World War

  • They scared people more than the damage they did, like the Paris gun. They were also a preview of nastier air power to come as far as dangers to cities.

Luckily gas was never used in WW1 city bombing raids.

  • It should be and should on T.V. more

    5*s

  • Marvellous film!

    Elke was a goddess!

    *sigh*

    Is it available on DVD?

  • Thanks for your comment.

Sadly, not in the UK or USA.

  • @Soundtrackcollector Now available through the Warner Archive. A bit pricey at $19.95 for a bare-bones disc, but well worth it. Just Google "Warner Archive" and "Zeppelin" and it should show up...

  • @dasinfogod Thanks for the information.

  • Brilliant!

  • Thanks for the encouraging comment Jack.

  • Just got the DVD in Spanish/English.

Great movie, a real nice WWI movie with excellent footage.

I wish they made such kind of moves now instead that kind of "transformers" stuff

  • Great movie. Good to see the SE5 flying. The Hawker Hurricane of the First World War.

  • I want this movie on DVD !!!

  • You can get it on VHS -- not the same as DVD but workable. There's often one available on Amazon....

  • I am suprised more movies about this era have not been made, not to mention ones about airships. Airships seem like a great thing for movie makers to work with.

I agree the detail in this one was great, and if there is no wide screen DVD release, it's a crime considering how many other movies have had that treatment by now.

  • Great score from one of the really under-rated war movies - maybe ever. The period feeling was terrific, and the aerial combat sequences were maybe the best ever filmed (aerial combat against a zeppelin!).

One other interesting point - the Germans were not stock bad guys in this movie - they much more sympathetic than usually portrayed -- ruthless but also capable of showing great heroism and sacrifice.

  • Thanks for your great comment!

However, I still find the scene where the masked German raiders use the mustard gas slightly uncomfortable.

  • Great score, and a great flick (but personally, I've always been kind of partial to Michael York). I think it's greatly under-rated today among war movies. (I love the scene in the shop where Michael York is trying to remember the code word 'bunting blue' and gets it mixed up). Thanks for posting, Soundtrackcollector!

  • Thanks your comment.

Your recollection of the scene made me smile.

  • A good film I always liked this one my great grandmother died in 1915 dont think she died in a zeppelin raid tho good film,

  • Thanks for your comment.

Many places suffered from Zeppelin raids including Edinburgh, Gravesend, Sunderland, the Midlands and the Home Counties. By the end of May 1916 at least 550 British civilians had been killed by German Zeppelins.

  • Thanks for message , I can renember my grandfather telling me about the zeppelin he witnessed go down in 1916 in flames over Enfield where he was living as a boy

. I know theres a memorial plaque in Bloomsbury for the victims of a zepplin raid in about 1915 . I`ll have to try and find it , its not far from the British museum.

  • Great job 5*

  • Glad you like the edit.

    Thanks for the rating. ®

  • Saw this movie many years ago. Excellent job!

  • Thanks for your comment ...it really needs a widescreen release.

  • Pure excellence!

  • Glad you like it!

    Thanks for commenting.

  • I bet I'm one of the very few people watching this clip on YouTube who actually saw ZEPPELIN at the cinema in 1971...I was impressed with it then, and still thoroughly recommend it now.

  • I still remember the front of house (lobby) cards at the local Plaza.

    Thanks for your great comment.

  • Any chance you could put on some more of this great film? Especially bits with Elke Sommer in them!

    Thanks!

  • This is a great movie.

  • Thanks for commenting.

  • Maybe, but riddled with historical inaccuracies.

  • SC You've done it again !!!
