I had an SE I converted into an SE/30, maxed the memory, added an ethernet card... the traded it in for some other computer hardware. I wish I still had it, and am searching for an SE/30 now.
My first computer was a Macintosh SE/30. I purchased it around 1990 and used it regularly until the mid 90s when I finally put it in storage.
It was still in its original box.... until today. I unpacked it, set it up, plugged it in, and flipped the power switch. It took about 10 minutes to show the desktop, but it did work!!
Love it. I have an SE/30 that I write articles with and just recently hooked it to an Apple Stylewriter II and printed out its first Word document in over 20+ years. Fun.
I have an SE 30 back home. Just for kicks i would like to replace the screen and mess around with it, just for old times sake. Anyone have any information on where i can buy a new screen?
hi, i need help finding a classic computer game. its the one were your like a triangle and you go and capture these yellow flags and these red triangular things try to stop you. im not sure if it is a classic mac game but i had it on an old mac a long time ago. thanks.
Ahhh the trusty SE/30. I never had a better feeling buying a computer, than when I got my used SE/30 in 1996 at 16. A great computer, and the most advanced compact mac of it's era aside the ultra rare impossible to find Color Classic II. I had a dual monitor setup on my SE/30 using a rasterops 24 bit video card which in it's circa of use(1989)was unheard of to have such a setup with a home computer. I even installed Os 8.1 on it. An os that came out almost ten years after the SE/30 was designed!
yea i got a set of ROMs for the superdrive SE FDHD series. board died long ago with a checkerboard pattern of death. (means the VLSI initted, but no command from MCU recieved)
Hey don't give me that. I only present the facts and the facts are there is no such company as Apple Computers Inc. As I said before, it's been Apple Inc. for over a year!!
I bought one of those for $1 at a garage sale. It has the earliest version of Microsoft Office on it I've ever seen. Apparently whoever owned it before I bought it used it until 1997, because that's when the dates when they saved items stopped. It's a mystery to me why they didn't upgrade sooner.
I bought a Macintosh SE with a 20 Megabyte hard disk (I think) from a used computer shop for 8€. The shop wiped the hard disk and the machine uses 800k floppies, I have 15 1,4 mb floppies that dont work in the machine. I should get a program in a few days time on 800k floppy disk, and then we see does it really work. Now I only get the picture of a disk with a ? in it.
The disc drive in the legendary SE/30 was called "Superdrive" (just as the Apple DVD-burners of today). It could read and write "HD-floppy discs", 1,44 MB. The older Macintosh SE could just use 400K/800K discs, but it is possible later SE´s got the Superdrive too.
amen. I miss the beep that the 512k made when it booted, and the noise the disk drive made. I grew up with OS6. I find OS 1 fascinating. I'd like to ressurect my quadra 950, have it run os 7 and type papers on it.
The goal of this video when I made it all those months ago was to show the starting up of a classic Macintosh. There are still alot of people that only know OS X, and nothing about the classic enviroment.
Music "score" is no bad, I toght at first... But then I realised that more than half the vid consists of "credits" BOOOOOOOORING!!!!!!!!!!!

That music reminds me of the good Resident Evil games, the ones before 4.

could you put sys 9.0 on it?
warblood123 2 years ago
No, it's not possible. Mac OS 9 is only for PowerPC and the SE is 68k.

warblood123 2 years ago

So.. I see you going about criticizing other videos, yet all this video contains is someone booting an SE/30, with boring editing?
The only good thing about this video is Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, which is a beautiful song, not a boring song for a boring video.
