  • @vjm3 To begin with Norman Borlaug was never a GE crop researcher, so anything he said was his uninformed opinion. The UN report IAASTD admits that yields are sometimes higher for GE crops and sometimes lower, so there is no real yield increase on average. The statistic of increase profits used is from the biotech company themselves. IAASTD states ""Hence,assessment of modern biotechnology is lagging behind development: information can be anecdotal and contradictory"

  • @vjm3 UN report IAASTD(by 400 scientists) states ""The use of patents for transgenes introduces additional issues. In developing countries especially, instruments such as patents may drive up costs, restrict experimentation by the individual farmer or public researcher while also potentially undermining local practices that enhance food security and economic sustainability." Independent studies generally find very different data than the studies done by biotech companies used in this video.
