hey. i ve got this processor, with an asus M3N78-VM motherboard. do you think my pc could handle it? i don't wanna go too high. just from 3.0 GHz to say 3.3 GHz. Do you think i could do it?
@iTR8ORz yeah you should be fine, depending on how well cooled you case is and how good the airflow is can make a difference, if 3.3ghz isn't stable then just set it at 3.275ghz and it should be fine :)
@iTR8ORz Ahh good, remember if you want to go higher on the overclock, water cooling is a good option, im considering this myself as it allows for the Vcore on the cpu to be increased and remain stable and cool :D

i dont need to overclock! XD 4.2ghz x4 non-clocked when i do OC i it goes to 4.7 but i need use a special heat sink ;) temp goes to 73 when over-clocked!
@Razua77 with a small overclock like that you shouldnt need a heatsink, besides your comp will give you the blue screen and settings will return to normal if you go to far, you should see a small increase in performance, most definatly if you are gaming :)
@deviljamez Okay I'll try it out; I did OC it to 3.1 using Nvidia's Control Panel...the two core temps went into the high 50's low 60's while playing Bad Company 2 BETA @ 100% load. Is this okay?

Ok thanks. I've gotten the cpu to 3.28ghz stable enough to play Gta4 nicer by raising the vcore to 1.40v, setting the multiplier to x13, and raising the bus to 236, using the stock fan.
Do you know what are some good cooling fans to get it close to 3.5ghz?
Well, after 3,3ghz on A64 x2 you don't raise much more power unfortunelly so getting better Air Cooling is kinda senseless. If you want anyway continue OC then maybe huge coolers like Ninja 2, TRUE, Xigmatek thors hammer, Megahelms [actually best AC]. In my opinion better move would be switching to Phenom II/Athlon II and AM2+/AM3[ddr3] mobo. BTW GTAiV runs fine at least when you have 3 core cpu. :/
I couldn't get my old 6000+ past 3.2Ghz either, untill i realised how hot it was running, i installed an Asus Silentknight heatsink, and wacked some top notch thermal compound on there, now my old rig runs fine at 3.3ghz.
what heat sink have you got, the standard crap that came with or or you got some thing mega to keep it cool coz im at the set clock and im idleing at 50!
Say if you were to overclock your CPU from 2.10 to 3ghz you would see a major performance boost in all applications (if its stable). It's like steriods it speeds you up but if you take too much your cpu might die.
my Asus P5n-D 750i board has an AI o/c in bios. All I have to do is enable it and select my % increase. I set to 15% and my core 2 duo wolfdale E8400 went from 3ghz to 3.45ghz and running at 39c core 1 and 30c core 2. Very easy and convienient.
dude i could only understand you when you said something about numbers. a bit of advice: when you make a video make sure that you talk loud and clear.
hi would i be better off with a 5400 black edition (2.8ghz + 65nm) or a 6000 (3.1ghz + 65nm)? i already have a 4600 (90nm) but it is useless for overclocking. the higher i overclock it, the slower it runs :s i've tried upping and lowering the voltage but doesnt help.
if you lissen to him he says nvida ntunes is the overclocking pogram. cpu tem program saerch on google for that. i will not recomende stock cooler but tray if it. if it is to hot change
is this overclocking with using stock cooling fan? great video... where to get software to monitor cpu temp? what sofware did you use to adjust setting?
LOL. I am a bit of a nerd, but don't know loads about overclocking or using the bios. I have this processor and the multilpyer was 15x. Then i change the frequency from 200 to 220 ! EPIC FAIL!! My PC kept crashing after asking me if i wanted to run setup, and it would beep rapidly from the mobo and crashed in the bios. But i managed to fix it :) all is well now.
What program is that? The only overclock I've done on my 4800+ is by upping 'CPU Freq' in bios from 200 to 240. any higher and it defaults back to the 200 setting.
The HT link is hypertransport bus, this is amd's way of letting the Cpu communicate with memory and near enough everything else on the mainboard. fsb carries data between cpu and northbridge, thanks for commenting
yeah i got myn running at around 3.4ghz on average im using a duorb cpu cooler, also got my ram up to 1133mhz, i dont run it for to long because i dont want to fry my motherboard again(watch my video)
i was using an old version of core temp giving a false reading so i downloaded the latest version and my temps are 40 & 39 for both cores on my 6000+ have now returned to stock 3.12gig as i couldn't see any performance gain from 3.4gig
ya its not a problem keeping it at 3.439 with the stock voltage of 1.448V. I cant remember what the temperature was cause i havent restarted and checked the bios in a while but its very cool. Alot cooler than a stock cooler would be.
I have a athlon 64 x2 4200+ and 700 watts powersupply, can i overclock?

@iTR8ORz yes you can overclock it up to 3.37 ghz with no problems without increasing the procesor voltage but you must lower the ht link and ram .
I have the following settings: bus 225, multiplier 15, ht link set to 9,procesor voltage 1.472v
I recomand to change the procesor cooler

dark666king 2 years ago
Ok. my mobo can take an AM3. Thanks for the info.

i cant seem to get past 3.2ghz it acts like its running unstable if i do so..plus i have the ami bios so that only makes it harder >.>
ghosthuntertango 2 years ago
I couldn't get my old 6000+ past 3.2Ghz either, untill i realised how hot it was running, i installed an Asus Silentknight heatsink, and wacked some top notch thermal compound on there, now my old rig runs fine at 3.3ghz.
So yeah, see if heat is your issue...

i have reach with mine 3.611 ghz (233fsb*15.5) (stock 3100mhz amd 6000+)

my mobo has a max of 400 fsb, but i only have an athlon xp 2800, what cpu will work for this socket?
grandmastgarth 2 years ago
what heat sink have you got, the standard crap that came with or or you got some thing mega to keep it cool coz im at the set clock and im idleing at 50!

Hi i just have couple of questions ..
-first what does overclocking do ??
-i heard u said after over clocking you shouldnt reboot . WHy ?
-And i have AMD athlon 64 X2 2.10 GHZ its AM2 socket and my mother board is ASUS M2A-VM HDMI . does it work for me ?? thanks...!
keagleeye 2 years ago
Say if you were to overclock your CPU from 2.10 to 3ghz you would see a major performance boost in all applications (if its stable). It's like steriods it speeds you up but if you take too much your cpu might die.
grandmastgarth 2 years ago

not really, if you overclock it will crash your pc but it will go to defaul frequecy once done.

you can only overclock up to 2.4GHz, or else it will crash.

my Asus P5n-D 750i board has an AI o/c in bios. All I have to do is enable it and select my % increase. I set to 15% and my core 2 duo wolfdale E8400 went from 3ghz to 3.45ghz and running at 39c core 1 and 30c core 2. Very easy and convienient.

I've gotten my BRISBANE AMD x2 6000+ to 3.6 ghz, FAR FROM STABLE :D.
but right now it is stable at 3.35 Ghz
Warkid1993 2 years ago
What motherboard you using?
intheshitter 2 years ago
not that great, an A-BIT Nforce 570- sli
looking to upgrade whenever next AMD CPU's come (if they are promising... if not, Intel :D)
FYI, 3.6 ghz was BSOD horror... voltage was too high as were temps. not very practical. Zalmon 9700 heatsink. (My case doesn't have the best airflow)
Warkid1993 2 years ago
"I made this video, as many Internet sites claim 3.2 and 3.3 are the max over clocks for this CPU..."
Those sites actually check the stability of the OC by stressing it with a program like Orthos or Prime95.

hi would i be better off with a 5400 black edition (2.8ghz + 65nm) or a 6000 (3.1ghz + 65nm)? i already have a 4600 (90nm) but it is useless for overclocking. the higher i overclock it, the slower it runs :s i've tried upping and lowering the voltage but doesnt help.
thanks.

i think you should go way better then 6000.. go for a phenom.. i have a 6000+ and it didnt satisvied me..

if you lissen to him he says nvida ntunes is the overclocking pogram. cpu tem program saerch on google for that. i will not recomende stock cooler but tray if it. if it is to hot change
martincool90 2 years ago
is this overclocking with using stock cooling fan? great video... where to get software to monitor cpu temp? what sofware did you use to adjust setting?
bridgebolt51 2 years ago
ì was up to 3,5 but that was to instabil so i adjust it to 3,476,8ghz many thx to you and youre guide!

i got my athlon x2 from 2.6 to 3.2
it's a good cpu =]

I'm from germany...sry for my english :)
did you run prime95? first if you ran prime95, you can say my cpu is rockstable, can't you?
what programm do you use to overclock?
my 6000+ works with 3,34 primestable -.-
IntelAti111 2 years ago
The highest overclock that is recommened is 3.4ghz nice for the extra 20mhz xD my new heatsink is on its way so i can overclock mine ^^
MrHunter00 2 years ago
What program is that? The only overclock I've done on my 4800+ is by upping 'CPU Freq' in bios from 200 to 240. any higher and it defaults back to the 200 setting.
myphrill 2 years ago
i don´t need to overlock it, its a very good cpu
Messerschmitt262a2a 2 years ago
i managed to obtain 3.45 GHZ at 1,4 vcore without lowering the HT :P and it's stable :P

i just overclocek to 3190 with 220 * 14,5 and i do not have a 15 multy where did raikonen get 15,5??
sale666 2 years ago
i think the black edition has a 15.5 but not sure, mines 15 multiplier
deviljamez 2 years ago
why mine shows 14,5 =(.... can you tell how have you set yours? the voltage, fsb, ram?
sale666 2 years ago
let me just get this right, HT link is the bus that transfers data between chipset and cpu but in intel boards its called a FSB?
FSB=HT link?
EnT271 2 years ago
The HT link is hypertransport bus, this is amd's way of letting the Cpu communicate with memory and near enough everything else on the mainboard. fsb carries data between cpu and northbridge, thanks for commenting
deviljamez 2 years ago
3.4ghz is easy and stable o/c for me. 220 FSB with 15.5 MP and 1.375v. i tried higher but its unstable
raikkonen85 3 years ago
i reached to 3.39

yeah i got myn running at around 3.4ghz on average im using a duorb cpu cooler, also got my ram up to 1133mhz, i dont run it for to long because i dont want to fry my motherboard again(watch my video)

i was using an old version of core temp giving a false reading so i downloaded the latest version and my temps are 40 & 39 for both cores on my 6000+ have now returned to stock 3.12gig as i couldn't see any performance gain from 3.4gig
leezaal 3 years ago
yea, you might not see a visible perfomance gain , but if you use Fraps you will see a jump in fps which will give a smoother game play
deviljamez 3 years ago
wat program did u use to overclock
jimmieeeee 3 years ago
i used Nvidia Ntune with motherboard settings, and system BIOS

I got my AMD 6000 running at 3.410 . Cpu voltage is 1.4. had to increase ram voltage to 1.9 and ht link is x4 running at 880.1mhz
idle temps are 20 and 15 on both cores. i have a screen shot of this with cpuz running to confirm. how do i upload the image here!!
leezaal 3 years ago
Sounds like you have a Brisbane core. Those ones have problems with odd temperature readings. Mines reads 74c at idle LOL.

what cooling / HSF did you use?

helloW,
what software did you use to over clock your processor?
pls reply,
xibur30 3 years ago
It can be done from BIOS.
anzonix 3 years ago
he used nvidia ntune, you should hear it!
tagKalevra 3 years ago
ya its not a problem keeping it at 3.439 with the stock voltage of 1.448V. I cant remember what the temperature was cause i havent restarted and checked the bios in a while but its very cool. Alot cooler than a stock cooler would be.
