  • What joke this guy is.. Acting like empowering the consumer who is the tax payer is somehow wrong.

All bets are off? What does that even mean? More beds years ago? Okay more MRI's more advanced health care?

All over the world people have some choice between private and public health care. Where ever there are market forces the cost goes down. Look at Singapor.. but this guy defends his vision of utopia peoples lives and freedom come second.

  • I don't get it, the Canadian Health care system is supposed to be provincial health insurance pools. Who are these contractors? Doctors and doctors forming partnerships with other doctors and nurses to run their own clinics to directly treat their patients being self-employed care providers? How is this less desirable to having doctors and nurses punching a time clock like factory workers at some government health department run facility?

  • Medicare is a bankruped ponzi scheme that my generation will never receive it's servises.

  • @simontimon2

Give me a break. If current politicians and governments actually ran their respective areas with integrity and an eye on its citizens health care could be affordable and public with little effort. Now there is so much crap that is getting in the way of running a good government that you see many attempts to hijack medicare for the corporate teat.

  • Only a fool would believes that a healthcare system that can bearly maintain current services can take care of 10 million baby boomers in the next decade.

  • I fail to understand how Dr. Duckett is supposed to be a saviour of health care.

Albertans get angry about health care yet still vote conservative

  • It is interesting the divide that a left wing ruling government can create in terms of decision making in publicly funded areas.

Ths only thing I disagree with that Mr. Eggen has said is the remark about alberta being one of the best health care in the world. Canada is ranked at 30 in the world, that's a long way from the top. I am young and have even noticed a substantial difference from around the big Klein cut times.

  • I like how Mr. Duckett put out a gag order on AHS employees. As a Nursing Student I think its ridiculous that my Professors and practicing RN's are considered a "special interest group" with no say in the decision matters.

  • I agree with your comments, RN in training. Duckett overstepped his bounds.

I heard in Europe that nurses have more power. They deal with patients more than doctors do.

Oddly Alberta needed nurses a few years ago then everyone decided to be nurses now there are cuts.

    I mean sheesh
