  • If you look at the IRA they just want northern Ireland back from England. How would England like it if another country took part of England and call part of it their own I am sure the British would fight back.

  • @bluecar1990 Be careful Yank the South don't rise again,You sound like a Plastic Paddy Lover.Just remember what The Terrorists did to The USA and your Twin Towers.

If British People want to remain British they will do.6 Counties British Forever.

  • @Jungleloyalscouse Grow up. You know I am right. I am not on England's or Scotland's side but you got too get your head out of your behind and face reality. Well you should be happy that you have Wales. Wales will forever remain British no matter what. I know that because I am always right about these things. You will lose northern Ireland in 30 years from now. But you will own Wales forever.

  • @JimMagoo1 Told You even Mr Magoo was Blind,I don't think so.

  • @paddy123ization

Luke kelly singing the foggy dew? The dubliners singing ANY OTHER Irish political song? You don't know them, most of the dubliners are dead now. You sound like a typical free state Irish person, more supportive of britain than Ireland itself.

  • Did Ronnie Drew write this song

  • @terryBob9000000 No, Dominic Behan I think it was, one of the Behans anyway

  • @paddy123ization Even if the figure ot one in seven is true, why? Not trying to be smart or anything here but might it have something to do with the British army paying a wage?

  • Saorstát na hÉireann > > > Poblacht na hÉireann > > > Éire > > > There can be but one and has fourty shades of green ;-)

  • Lol You were the one that posted up up in your comments "The Anglo-Irish TREATY! " Go back and reread your posting.... Plus control your anger and swearing seriously bad Karma !

  • @malachy1847 I qualified it with a date with reference to the two premiers in question. Try again.

  • The IRA...I agree with the aims, but not the methods!

  • RIP Ronnie Drew

  • Fuck them all! yes im a true rebel..........

  • The IRA and the UDA and every other loyalist and Republic terrorists are just murdering bastards and so are the people that support them. I don't. PLEASE NO MORE COMMENTS BECAUSE I JUST GET RID THEM

  • did the dubliners ever play in belfast ? lol

  • Why you ask? And yes. And they played in Derry during the NO GO. They do go to dangerous places.

  • i cant imagine the dubliners going down well with the orange men. They sing songs about the IRA

  • @emohatred That's probably because they're not Ulstermen. Although they do sing 'Old Orange Flute', which is obviously a loyalist song.

  • shane macgowan is number 1 irishman ronnie drew is number 2. rip ronnie drew ill see ya at the ragmans ball in the sky

    peace from Tipperary Ireland everyone

  • other way round my friend

  • What a song, it actually sends a shiver down my spine, he has the perfect voice for this.

  • I think it might be a Brendan Behan song.??

  • wat a song,wata legend!!

  • and the bigest terroists in ireland was the british army

  • well said mate

  • the Catholic and protestants have both got terrorists groups in Ireland IRA is one the the UDA another

  • the UDA are the true terrorists. The IRA formed as a result of the Catholics being treated like shit

  • @emohatred No they didn't you fuckin' idiot - the UDA WAS formed as a result of partition (1920 Home Rule Bill), the IRA has its roots in 19th century Irish nationalism. Jesus Christ you people are spectacularly thick.

  • @djsmurfie It was the U.V.F. that was formed 1913 coming from the Ulster Volunteers of 1912 which was a long way prior to partition...... Where as the U.D.A. was formed around the autumn of 1971 with the likes of Andy Tyrie and Tommy herron at the helm... some historical studies required before bashing the Keyboard....

  • @malachy1847 Argue over substance, not semantics.

  • @djsmurfie Harldly semantics when one talks of those historical events... what with mixing up terms for a pastime calling The Anglo-Irish agreement...... "The Anglo Irish treaty" ....your words... then referring to same later as the 'Irish Home rule bill " creates even more confusion........ this coupled with outher posted showing your lack of knowledge on the subject of the formation of the UVF ... also slightly off ... and hardly trivia

  • @malachy1847 It's analogous to someone interloping in a serious conversation to correct a date: like discussing the details of the Treaty of Breda, stating it happened in 1668 and some busybody correcting you and stating it occurred in 67. The substance of the agreement is what matters: if you want to argue over the semantics of the correct title find someone else.

  • great irish songs, by great irish musicians about great irish heros.

  • also this song is about a man traveling to liverpool in 1939 way after the war of Independence

  • @beggo321 war of independence? lol, what a fuckin' joke. Irish Home Rule had been mooted by the Liberals since 1886, no 'war' forced the hand of the British.

  • He sang these rebel songs out of public demand but when the troubles started in the late 60s the Dubliners gradually stopped playing them.

  • Good reply. Alas because of the lack of understanding of Irish history in modern England someone would quite possibly get into bother singing it in the wrong place. Its a great pity really as there is really no malice in the song

  • This song refers to the days of old.A couple o sticks o gelagnite wouldn't hurt a building, but someone they were after...This song also refers to the day when Catholics were considered rebels,Republicans..Devoted to the re-unification of Ireland. The wearing of the Green was considered Treason..Punishable by hanging.Anyone listening to this song, should really understand Irish history..Eirein Gobragh

  • well said !!! Éire 32

  • God bless you Ronnie ... thanx for your voice man ... RIP and get singing with luke

  • I have to ask, does anyone find this offensive or bad? I personally don't. I can see a lot of people getting shirty because its a rebel song though and to do with bombing.

I do think its a great ong though :)

  • the sad thing about the rebels is that they did not get the support of the IRISH GOVERNMENT.

And so all the progress made in the North is thanks in great measure to the splendiferous work of the IRA and anyone who says differently is blind as a bat, deaf as a door nail and pure and total d u m b, Dia Dhuit

  • I think he is talking about the original IRA, the ones who wanted full Irish independance. They were true heroes, fighting a losing war against the british army. They are not the ones who bombed people from 1969-2001, that is the PROVISIONAL Irish Republican Army, they could never hold a flag to the originals.

  • This song is about the IRA's S Plan which didnt amount to much. The IRA in that time could never hold a flag to the provisionals who mounted the most sustained campaign in Irish history against the British forces.

  • i tought of it that way. tiocfaidh ar lá

  • @incaalpaca Yes they did you fuckin' moron. The Anglo-Irish treaty of 1985 specifically laid out enjoiners that prohibited Irish support of the IRA, which had been suspected in the years leading to the signing of the treaty. You people need to read some fuckin' history - utterly thick.

Splendiferous IRA? What a silly cunt you are.

  • @djsmurfie I smell a pissed off Unionist with sand in his vagina!

  • @begley321 Pissed off about what? I'm someone who's educated enough to discern to stupidity in romanticising Irish independence.

  • @djsmurfie The 'Anglo -Irish Treaty was signed off in London 6thDecember 1921... by David Lloyd George and and those of the Micheal Collins - Artuur Griffith grouping .......... your score would be a D- for History.........Serious study required there....

  • @malachy1847 Errr no, you fuckin' retard, I specifically referred to the Anglo-Irish agreement of 1985 between Thatcher and Fitzgerald, not the fuckin' Home Rule Bill. Try again moron.

  • @djsmurfie Again you seem to have less that a passing Knowledge of This Islands History.. You are confusing The Irish Home Rule Bill of 1912 with the signing of 'Anglo-Irish Treaty' of Dec 1921..

  • @malachy1847 Actually there were numerous Home Rule Bills that were mooted by Parliament beginning with the attempted 1886 Bill that took down Gladstones government; the one that cemented Home Rule was the 1920 Bill under Lloyd George - all of them are referred to as the Home Rule Bills, so spare me your cavillations.

  • @malachy1847 Even a cursory look at wikipedia would show you that: "The four Irish Home Rule bills introduced in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom during the late 19th and early 20th centuries"

In history they are referred to, as a collective, as the Home Rule Bills. You want to argue semantics? Find someone else who likes to argue trivia.

  • how dare you call the IRA terrorists ! look up bloody sunday !! IRA FREEDOM FIGHTERS !! Éire 32

  • @Irishfianna well there where nice to give call up and tell us where the bombs are and have a nice chat. not like them nutters in the hills who kill kids and love carveing up troops heads i think i would have the IRA in my street then terrorists...well i would like to have no one planting bombs in my street at all xD

  • @Irishfianna They were obviously terrorists you fuckin' idiot - how about you look up the 1974 Birmingham pub bombings and the 1984 Brighton hotel bombing.

  • @djsmurfie how about the brits fuck off across the water for the first time in over 800 years. if yous love the uk so much why dont yous just fuck to the uk not Éire

  • @Irishfianna Poor old Irish under the boot of the British.

  • @djsmurfie every nation an race has there time an i think that britains time is nearly up

  • @Irishfianna If Britain's is up then Ireland's was up in the Dark Ages.

  • @djsmurfie i said race the an the irish are celts and the celts still have bigger population than anglo saxons and the celts once spread all britain and still do in scotland an wales and cornwall,,Rep Of Scotland coming soon Albain go braigh

  • @Irishfianna What an utter retard you are.

  • @djsmurfie

Your precious empire's not looking so good, once Scotland leaves you it'll all break up. Once Scotland leaves Wales will want to leave too. Too bad for you, I suppose, but when the EU takes actualy control of europe it wont matter

  • @MacCeapaigh1916 the brits need to stick to their Island&their own piece of the Island not the whole damn thing

  • @MacCeapaigh1916 Is Scotland really going to leave the UK? I am from the USA so I don't know to much what is going on in that part of the world but I support Ireland 100%. Do you know when Scotland would leave the UK? I hope it is soon. The British people would be devastated if they lost Scotland.

  • @bluecar1990

The SNP won the most seats in the election so when/if they call a referendum, scotland may leave Britain, although to be honest a lot of scottish people want to stay in britain for economic reasons

  • Quality.

  • excellent thx :)

  • fantastic it's been thirty years since i last heard this tune, thank you

  • Or the Ould Alarum Clock to give it its correct title as on the L.P.!! Good man Ronnie...!!!!
