@SelectRCdotcom traxas is trash compaired to HPI savage. way better rig. take the preload clips outta a savage heavier 80wt shock oil and light springs makes for a low center of gravity. i had a traxas for 2 weeks. after dumping 400 dollars into it i sold it for 400 bought a savage spent 90 on batteries and never looked back. way bettr build.

@flamingflattier this is stock, it sounds like you are using a smaller spur gear, try and smaller pinion instead.

a descent lipo on the xl-5 will do just as good as the brushless without a lipo....

@arcadeidiot3 it will kill the motor in one run. Actually you dont even need a lipo to do that. just put a 5000 mah battery in the xl-5 and in 2 days your motor is broken.

@traxxas1232 you can use a lipo battery, but make sure your change your gearing. Such as using a lower pinion and higher tooth spur gear. Never let your motor exceed 160 degrees. Hope this helps.

@Kpilot786457 you cannot program the stock esc except to change the mode like training and so on. That was my mistake. I was referring to if you have a brushess after market esc.

@tamiyausa123 theres not much you can do to adjust for tight turn other than full Dual Rates for steering. The wheels are to big, and hit the suspension arms. Try 18tooth pinion and 90 tooth spur gearing alot of torque for short takeoff big jumps.

nice i just bought the same one yesterday! there fun! except i think im gonna get a bigger battery, the stock 1500mAh battery just dosent last long enough. what were you using in yours? what would you recomend? thanks

@MrDirtbiker250r yes, if you go with a 2S Lipo battery you will be set. Choose somewhere between a 3000-5000mah. I always use TrueRC.com 2S 8000mah batteries but had to modify the tray for it. You should be just fine with 3000-5000mah.

@MrDirtbiker250r perfect jsut remember the higher the mah the longer runtim you will have. If you want more power can get 2S Lipo's. If you go that route you will need a lipo charger and balancer.
