The same question goes to me, i can jump of with both legs and hold on to the rim with my both hands easily, but i can't dunk. What could be the problem ?
this guy has helped me alot with the techniques he shows in the videos on my page i could catch a alley oop thrown to myself after only one week of working on his technique if you dont learn from this guy its because your not trying hard enough thanks @Vertfreak101dotcom i hope you help others like you did for me
@Vertfreak101dotcom Great video! Can I ask a question. I tend to jump higher with my left leg when jumping off of one leg. I noticed in all 2 feet dunking vids, they tend to take one huge step before they plant themselves and jump. Should my strong leg be the one i use when taking the big step? Will that give me a slightly higher vert, or it does not matter? Thanks:))
matrand1 did I ask what your height was ? I don't give a shit, if you want ill upload my vids in high school doing windmills double pump reverse dunks on fast break if you want ? then after that ? don't get mad bro ? you all suck haahahahaha you are all foooled im 12 when I'm older ill be beater then all you lame ass white cunts they cant dunk for shit go the nigger black power g crips suwooop hahaahahahhahaha dumb white cunts. CARE !!
Hey man I'm havin some trouble with increasing my height off the run, I can touch rim standing still under it, yet even with a running start I still don't get much more than 3 or 4 inches above it. I know friends that get the same height straight verticle as me, but they can throw down with ease. Just wondering if you got some quick tips or any idea on what I may be doing wrong. Appreciate it
Yeah sorry I agree most people here, you explained it well but there was no demonstration, I couldn't see anything difference in most of the little bunny hops the asian did. Maybe try him actually jumping as high as he can (like we want too) and there would be some use in him as a prop.
@Vertfreak101dotcom Hey adam, i really wanna try out your program, but everytime i do serious activity, i aggrevate my shin splints. i'm so close to dunking! but i know i need to stay off it for a while. What are your suggestions for when i could get back at it?
@48in2011 I use to have the same problem. I started lifting weights (lower body) and building strength and that seemed to solve it. Just my two cents...
So I'm 29, 5'10", and haven't dunked in about 5 years. I'm getting back into basketball and want to work on my vertical. I've only ever been able to dunk of of one leg (I was a long/high jumper in HS so maybe that's why.) Any suggestions? Great vid.
You already explained alot of the same techniques from the 1 footed video, which where great but this video was not as in depth and the asian killed it because he was garbage he isint someone i want to learn from
@redberrey1 He is a display, and he added over 9" to his vertical on a few short months through mainly technical work. You were learning from me... but trust me, he is def. someone you would want to learn from...
Thanks for the reply, I actually had a question in your videos you say your last two steps should be your quickest and you should not get low at all and to keep straight legs right? Well do these techniques apply to 2 footed jumping or is that only for 1 footed I only ask because the Jump Manual guy said you should exxagerate and I cant tell which is better
@Vertfreak101dotcom Hey man right now I just watched your one foot vid and your 2 foot vid i am freaking happy right now going to the gym and playing ball first thing i am going to do is strech and then I am going to grab rim I hope lol. Great vids keep them coming.
@Vertfreak101dotcom dang this video kind of made since i wish u would of got a random person to jump off 2 feet and then help him like u did in the 1 foot jump video .......i can touch rim but i wanna pop it soooooo bad
I don't care what nobody says your advice is plain and simple, many of these viewers are thinking too deep and too hard about this smh. Dunking is easy!
@AIRJORDAN833 Also I played this message off thinking ok... another immature kid... then I went and saw you are a 27 year old man from NZ? Grow up man, you should be a shamed of yourself. @Vertfreak101dotcom hey adam great video series, has helped me a ton. I'm in highschool and play basketball and run track. I'm hoping to become a decathlete but im a two foot jumper which doesnt really work on the highjump. Any advice on converting my two foot ability into one foot?
@Georgekwok Good Luck to you. If you don't get value from this video, something is wrong. Thats why I work with serious athletes and not recreational ones like yourself.
@Vertfreak101dotcom thanks. but its funny how you don't show us how to jump. plus, i'm not a serious athlete, you are right, and i have no intention of being one.
how much would it increase ur vertical cus im 5'7 14yrs old and my reach make me about 6'9 and i could grab rim so im lookin forward to dunk before my 8th grade bball season
SuperNaturalJump2012, YouTube-Over 5 feet vertical! UltraHighJump2012, YouTube-Wow, Awesome my hand is close to touching a Basketball Rim 12 & 1/2 Feet High! UltraStarJump2012, YouTube-My head by the Rim!"
Alright so this video was disappointing... but I'm interested in the concept, better technique = better jump... makes sense, I have 30inch vertical and can dunk but if jumping technique can get you to like a 3-4 inch increase that would be something serious -- use a different person in the next vid
adam im 5"10 180lbs i play basketball at least an hour a day and i use your tecnique i do toe raises but im just not seeing the results because i can only grab a 9"5 rim and dunk a 9"2 rim any advice for me man
@Vertfreak101dotcom hey is it too late to post a video of myself to you? I jump off 2 feet, am 5'11 and can grab/hang from rim. can you help me get 2-3 more inches on my vertical to dunk?
@Vertfreak101dotcom pay them haterz no mind homie the more fool proof and famous the programs get the more of them come, im a serious athlete im 6'2 14years old shooting guard/small forward in bball born with a 35-38 vert and I watch your vids to learn the correct principles to get the most out of my body and add to it at 13 i was 5' 10 back then i just cold not dunk i got my elbow a few inches from the rim and still could not dunk i looked up your vids after one day i started dunking with ease
@Zeeploox be more observant. I have atleast 20 videos on here of my jumping,a s well as each part of the technique. I give you examples from an athlete that is learning here for many reasons. My technique is way to advanced for you to really get an understanding of it by watching because of the speed I use. I'm sorry my "FREE" videos don't suffice for you.
You don't need to be spoon fed here. This video has helped a TON of people, use this info or don't but I think I do a pretty good job
@Vertfreak101dotcom i think you should a have jump before the teaching starts so we know what we're going to learn you know. i'm not hating but, it would been better .
hey great vid!! Im gonna try this out even though i normally jump off with 1 foot for everything in bball. So is jumping off with both feet always going to be higher than jumping off with only 1 though?? cuz i wanna jump higher in the game but it just doesnt feel natural for me when i try jumping off with 2 feet. neeed hellppp plz. thx!!
Hi, im Georges Madi from Venezuela and im 6.6 feet tall (2.00 cm). I have two years practicing basketball and i cant dunk white two feets, in running i dunk but i cant in two. The same is whit my brother he is 15 years old 6.7 feet tall (2.02 cm) if u can send me some tips to my e-mail: georgesmadi30@hotmail.com. About how i can dunk in two feets, i'll apricciate. Thanks i and i will waite for your answer.
I am 5' 8.5" (174 cm). I want to dunk and started some excercises. Now I can reach the botton of the plank, but still can't dunk. Maybe I am doing something wrong. I will try this approach maybe this will lift up my vertical.. :-)
@JohnWallisBeast your a bigger dumbass of course jumping has to do with basketball. Jumpshots are better with a better jump. Rebounds are easier with a better jump.
I have bought one, and does NOT work. SO take apart it, to find the inside, find the true, just search youtube "Concept 1 APL Shoes Put To Test - inside uncover".

I'm 6"0 and I'm an inch ish over the rim and was wondering if you could help me get those 3+ inches I need? I'm in grade 9 and please help I want to dunk by late grade 10 and I'm an experienced athlete so I will not waste your time thank you
Hey Adam, im 5'0" and im sometimes hitting net with a good jump. I was wondering if the APL's you are wearing really add anything? i'm 12 and 5'0" again. and i want to increase my vert so do the APL's work or not because im thinking about maybe getting them.
If i layup with my left leg.... when i jump off 2 feet which leg do i go for the last step with? i mean if my stronger leg is the left... do i put the right first and than the left.... or the opposite... because i saw Mr.720 he layups with his left... but when he goes off 2 feet he puts first his left and then his right..
Hey Adam- nice video! I was learning the other day in a volleyball class that in the second last step to bound in landing "heel-toe". I was wondering when paralleling this idea here (i.e. to the second last step of the approach) do you recommend this idea of landing "heel-toe" as you 'bound in' to gather yourself?
looks like your advises are really good and i dont have nothing against you , but if you are that good at jumping techniques and etc. why you didn't became like a good basketball player or somthing , cuz hey , jump high is one of the most important things in basketball when we are talking about physical training ? :) peace
@workhard9 Adam was a 7x Division 1 ACC High Jump Champion and Olympic Qualifier in the event. He concentrated on track in college, and didn't play bball
@workhard9 no disrespect here or anything but in my opinion and a lot of other people agree that jumping isnt such a big of deal as people make it. sure it is important to rebound and get shots off. But you can do both of those things without being able to jump super high. Just one example larry bird couldnt jump, yes he was like 6'11 but like i said he was able to get shots off. So what im getting at here is that you dont have to be able to jump high to be good at basketball.
@workhard9 Lol shows how much you know about ball, im pretty sure jumping is one of the last thing you would wanna concentrate on if your looking to be good, id rather have A grade game and C grade jumping then the other way around. BUt then again it doesn't hurt to be a good jumper.
hey so when i try jumping off two feet off a run, it really doesnt feel comfortable. I think its cuz ive always been a one foot jumper. Any advice on that besides jumping more? Oh and i always chop my feet before i go up for a jump. Any techniques to stop that?
so when I'm about to take of do I have to have my second to last two steps my longest too? or I just have to have quicker steps the rest of the way and my last to steps be just to long quick strides and explode upward?
@TheKingSovereign Exactly with your last stride from your plant being typically longer than your approach steps... reason being is you have built such momentum that you need to cover a bit of ground to successfully take it vertical... They key isn't the distance of your 3rd stride, but the SPEED. You do not want to lose momentum, but at the same time you do not want your core to give way and have forward lean at take off.
@Luraj7 It's kinda like being left handed or right handed with writing... You typically get use to one or the other, but doesn't mean you can't learn both.
ive got a question. i can grab the rim off 1 foot and even easier off 2 feet. but, as you can see in this vid, when you are about to jump you some kind of sweep your arms back and up as soon as you jump. that makes you jump way higher. but i cant jump that way with a ball in my hands as i cant sweep my arms. i jump like 30inches with ball and 36 without. so i can only dunk using n alley-oop which cant be used in games... how can i jump as high WITH ball as WITHOUT ball (off 2 feet)??
The Unwanted answer... Practice. Typically having a ball in hands makes for multiple incorrect changes to an athletes approach outside of the obvious lack of ability to arm swing... video tape both and watch your speed difference between the two. Typically athlete slow down and decelerate like crazy when they have a ball in their hand.
@babyheat23 You don't sit back like in a chair, but you dont fall forward either. Typically around a 1/4 to 1/2 squat position. Pretty much going down applies power but decreases speed... the idea is to find how far down you can go, while keeping the explosive speed necessary to go vertical. It can vary based on the athletes make up.
ive been doing alotta squats and other vertical programs but i havent seen much results. i think i got around 2 inches from air alert and then it disappeared :( i cant touch the rim and im 5'10. i think with all these programs and workouts i should be able to at least touch the rim. also im 150 pounds lean
@LilDaley23 Thanks man! Alot of people can dunk without using proper technique, but what they aren't doing is jumping their highest. Jumping higher can benefit us all!
I wanna see this form put into action with a bbal in you guys hands funking with this same form to see if yóu do the same thing. It seems like that guy has no hops but he can dunk so...
@ezoen i can offer great knowledge and value to athletes, and def want my job to be athletic training.. if i didnt get compensated for my products and services then id have a nontraining related job(eww) and not be offering videos on youtube! like you said, you use to chat with me... as a high jumper did i not offer you any free information?
@ezoen sorry i dissapoint you man. i offer free advice to anyone who asks, but i think you are wrapped up in my training without considering myself as a human being. i have bills to pay man, and i do what i love bc i feel
I love all the info you give out, it's really helped me a lot so far. My schools tryouts are this Monday and Tuesday coming up, I can't wait to show off how much better i've gotten from your videos.
If you could post a stellar core strengthening workout video it'd be very much appreciated! Thanks again for everything.
I'd reconsider what I talked about... though it sounds easy and "vague" these things take months to learn and years (if ever) to master... There are no secrets, just proper technique, and proper strength and explosiveness... I apologize if you were expecting something different!
If this is Adam, I'm very disappointed in you. I've been following vertfreak ever since you launched your website. I even remember chatting with you online( I was high jump man). If you really want to just people jump higher, run faster, become better athletes and get them a full ride to college than do it for free. Than do it for free. you even said that you didn't have any help when you were in high school trying to increase your vertical. So just help them to help them.
I have access to a weight room, but no such things as Plyo boxes. Just basic freeweights. What would you recommend for core strenght training and increasing my vertical?
Your typical strength program (squats, Deadlifts, bench, Military press) and weighted core work, including weighted leg lifts, and weighted planks/stability movements should get you on the right track.
@Vertfreak101dotcom Thanks a lot! I'll try to find some exercises and workouts and corporate them into a training schedual. Its really cool you took the time to read all the questions and answer them.
Is it possible that you can read minds :p?Yesterday evening I thought of sending you a PM on how to jump off two feet, because I'm a one-foot jumper and want to be able to master both methods and today I opened up my mailbox and saw the newsletter with this video. Great man, thank you! One question, do two-foot-jumpers really have a benefit over one-foot jumpers? Because they can use twice the strength, but then again, they don't have the advantage of the leverage foot which happens in the 1ft..
@rawbq Ha, glad that worked out! And yes always let me know what vids could help you and I'll try and get them down... as for jumping, I (and my high jump buds) jump much higher off of 1 ft, where many athletes jump higher off two... I believe it is more or less mental reps growing up (just like writing) and maybe some slight genetic things (wide hips tend to show a comfy two ft plant?!) But no, I don't think one type of jump is better than the other, but both def. have there place in bball!
@inmymind801 Very Cool, I have a Very Good bball coach as a friend, I'll lure his butt out to the gym next week to explain this and help you out! Try and get something to you next week.

I noticed in all 2 feet dunking vids, they tend to take one huge step before they plant themselves and jump. Should my strong leg be the one i use when taking the big step? Will that give me a slightly higher vert, or it does not matter? Thanks:))

Alright so this video was disappointing... but I'm interested in the concept, better technique = better jump... makes sense, I have 30inch vertical and can dunk but if jumping technique can get you to like a 3-4 inch increase that would be something serious -- use a different person in the next vid

Zeeploox 9 months ago

:) peace
workhard9 1 year ago
@workhard9 Adam was a 7x Division 1 ACC High Jump Champion and Olympic Qualifier in the event. He concentrated on track in college, and didn't play bball
Vertfreak101dotcom 1 year ago 10
@workhard9 no disrespect here or anything but in my opinion and a lot of other people agree that jumping isnt such a big of deal as people make it. sure it is important to rebound and get shots off. But you can do both of those things without being able to jump super high. Just one example larry bird couldnt jump, yes he was like 6'11 but like i said he was able to get shots off. So what im getting at here is that you dont have to be able to jump high to be good at basketball.
MrBrowning32 11 months ago
@workhard9 you dumbass. jumping has nothing to do with basketball... its just an advantage but nothing overly important
JohnWallisBeast 10 months ago
@workhard9 Lol shows how much you know about ball, im pretty sure jumping is one of the last thing you would wanna concentrate on if your looking to be good, id rather have A grade game and C grade jumping then the other way around. BUt then again it doesn't hurt to be a good jumper.

so when I'm about to take of do I have to have my second to last two steps my longest too? or I just have to have quicker steps the rest of the way and my last to steps be just to long quick strides and explode upward?
TheKingSovereign 1 year ago
@TheKingSovereign Exactly with your last stride from your plant being typically longer than your approach steps... reason being is you have built such momentum that you need to cover a bit of ground to successfully take it vertical... They key isn't the distance of your 3rd stride, but the SPEED. You do not want to lose momentum, but at the same time you do not want your core to give way and have forward lean at take off.

@Vertfreak101dotcom oh ok so its kinda longated thank you btw you seem like a cool guy so I'm going to send you an add on FB

@Luraj7 It's kinda like being left handed or right handed with writing... You typically get use to one or the other, but doesn't mean you can't learn both.

Vertfreak101dotcom 1 year ago
ive got a question. i can grab the rim off 1 foot and even easier off 2 feet. but, as you can see in this vid, when you are about to jump you some kind of sweep your arms back and up as soon as you jump. that makes you jump way higher. but i cant jump that way with a ball in my hands as i cant sweep my arms. i jump like 30inches with ball and 36 without. so i can only dunk using n alley-oop which cant be used in games... how can i jump as high WITH ball as WITHOUT ball (off 2 feet)??
YaCantJudgeMe 1 year ago
@YaCantJudgeMe
The Unwanted answer... Practice. Typically having a ball in hands makes for multiple incorrect changes to an athletes approach outside of the obvious lack of ability to arm swing... video tape both and watch your speed difference between the two. Typically athlete slow down and decelerate like crazy when they have a ball in their hand.

theuchiha12529 11 months ago
so when u jump off two u sit back???
babyheat23 1 year ago
@babyheat23 You don't sit back like in a chair, but you dont fall forward either. Typically around a 1/4 to 1/2 squat position. Pretty much going down applies power but decreases speed... the idea is to find how far down you can go, while keeping the explosive speed necessary to go vertical. It can vary based on the athletes make up.
Vertfreak101dotcom 1 year ago
ive been doing alotta squats and other vertical programs but i havent seen much results. i think i got around 2 inches from air alert and then it disappeared :( i cant touch the rim and im 5'10. i think with all these programs and workouts i should be able to at least touch the rim. also im 150 pounds lean

@ezoen
I'd reconsider what I talked about... though it sounds easy and "vague" these things take months to learn and years (if ever) to master... There are no secrets, just proper technique, and proper strength and explosiveness... I apologize if you were expecting something different!
Vertfreak101dotcom 1 year ago
@Vertfreak101dotcom
So just help them to help them.
ezoen 1 year ago
I have access to a weight room, but no such things as Plyo boxes. Just basic freeweights. What would you recommend for core strenght training and increasing my vertical?
Tommmaaah 1 year ago
@Tommmaaah
Your typical strength program (squats, Deadlifts, bench, Military press) and weighted core work, including weighted leg lifts, and weighted planks/stability movements should get you on the right track.

Because they can use twice the strength, but then again, they don't have the advantage of the leverage foot which happens in the 1ft..
rawbq 1 year ago
@rawbq Ha, glad that worked out! And yes always let me know what vids could help you and I'll try and get them down... as for jumping, I (and my high jump buds) jump much higher off of 1 ft, where many athletes jump higher off two... I believe it is more or less mental reps growing up (just like writing) and maybe some slight genetic things (wide hips tend to show a comfy two ft plant?!) But no, I don't think one type of jump is better than the other, but both def. have there place in bball!
